I just spoke with LightUp about my order from last weekend. They are out of stock on both the 4k and 5k. I'm assuming they took it offline due to this. The woman I spoke with assured me both color temperatures would be available on the 31st of this month.

I'll be ordering the highbays and some wall packs when the next batch rolls in next week. Thanks for the coupon code pointer!

I was also told the same info today when I gave them the product number for the light bulbs

Got two of the four up. I was blinded by the light :shocking:.. The cell phone camera doesn't like the LED lights though (wont focus).
I cant wait to get the other 2 up tomorrow. I think four lights total will be perfect. I dont even care about dimming them at this point since I have two circuits split on each side of the HB shop. Thanks again to Platonic Solid and everyone else posting advice info!

I am also in the same Light Up boat for 40 6840 bulbs. If the order gets delayed past the 31st I might have to cancel and order the Greentek frosted bulbs...

This really is "the best light fixture ever" thread! ;)

Best bang for the buck LED bypass 4ft 2-lamp strip light as of 10/25/2017:

Greentek Energy Systems
4ft 22W 2640 Lumen 120L/W LED Linear Tube - Bypass - (ETL) - Single End
180° Beam Angle
GT-22W45KCF (5000K Frosted) or GT-22W44KCF (4000K Frosted)
$6.75 ea. (Free Shipping Over $99)

Here is a 5% off coupon code for this item... green5 they said anybody can use it.

I bought from 2 sources and they are very very similar:
  • Both seem to have the same output intensity
  • Very similar (practically identical) package

And slightly different:
  • One had extra threads (M6) in the corners for flush mounts, I just used self tapping screws for the others
  • One had 4x2 rows of LED chips the other had 4x1 rows but the total number of chips is identical as the single row chips are closer to each other

Looks like green light depot is sold out of the T8 bypass in the 5k with clear lens. Anyone find anything else like those? Would like to find some 15W+

Heres a quick pick of all four 165 HB Greenteks mounted at 17'. Yes I had to buy a 12' ladder (+$200). :dunno: Looks really crisp and sharp. Plenty of light for me. I am really hoping Light Up comes through on the 31st so I can get the lower section done...

Rob - What size area are you lighting up with the 4x GreenTeks?

I got 4 of these greenteks and they are already shipped. Ill report back how they work out. https://greenlightdepot.com/collections/led-high-bay/products/lhb-165w-with-lens-and-w-o-lens?variant=29875890052

The manual said warranty and lifespan are 5 years and commercial rated... Pretty sure they will go a lot longer than that. Must have been a typo? Bulbs from Light Up are still OOS showing "ship in 3-4 days". Just a matter of time until this project finally gets done...:beer2:

Rob - What size area are you lighting up with the 4x GreenTeks?

I am lighting up a High Bay area which is about 14x50 and after a couple days I think the lights are the best ever . A storage loft in upper rear section is not needing direct lighting. I got about another 1000 SQFT of standard height ceiling garage space in need of fixtures/bulbs etc.. Then maybe a garage mini split and maybe a lift I dont know..

Real quick.. Before I set the lights I contemplated setting the lights lower (about 14') but noticed a lot of shadow over the side of shop 30" WP (from my big bat head). So after raising the lights to the level of the fan props (17'+) the shadowing was reduced enough to not matter any more and the lights plenty bright for me.

Any news from lightup on the 22w 5k’s coming back? I checked there web sight all day yesterday and today hoping to see them back in stock since the word here was the 31st, but it keeps popping up as unfound. Got my maxlight fixtures last week so I wanna pull the trigger on my bulb order so I can get these up and running. Any feed back on the new recommended bulbs? Just want to see of the people that have ordered them what there thoughts are. Thanks fellas

diiulio - No promises, but please start a thread. Also, drawing is too small to read. Clicking on it does not generate a larger image - I just get a black screen.

UPDATE:

I just spoke to LightUp regarding their 2640lu 4' bulbs. I ordered 30x on the 22nd and found out a week later that they were backordered. According to the CS rep this morning, they are likely delayed until end of November or early December.

I'm also speaking to GreenLight Depot about their 110w fixtures. The 5k fixtures are in a similar situation and will be delayed until later this month. They do have 4k fixtures on hand but they may not come with the lens. I'll update this later on.

Is the 4k really less desirable? I'm now on a bit of a time crunch and need to get a solution to start wiring up in the shop. At the same time, this is quite a bit of money and I don't want to waste money on something I don't like.

4k is closer to the light given off by incandescent bulbs.

pointer80 - So this is what you get from Beeslighting when you order the Diva Light ST48232-LED. Interesting that the box is labeled Utopia Lighting. I have to admit, I find the last picture of the lamp holder plate a tad confusing. I would normally expect both sides of the plate to be identical for tandem mounting. I must be missing something.

Yes these are from bees lighting st48232 I will try to get better pics but I believe they are identical on both sides. Now if I could find a place that has bulbs in stock I would be all set lol

Ordered 120 LEDTB4F1000037558-5000K lights from lightup.com October 10th. Have not seen anything yet. I hope I do not have to wait until December for them to get the next connex from China.

Those are *very* different from what I received when I ordered the ST48232 a week or so ago.

Here is the actual paperwork of the shipping carton and inner box

Mine didn't come in Utopia boxes, either.

It appears that unless you order all you want in one go, you may end up with different fixtures (like I am going to based on what I'm seeing here)

Just completed the installation of 18 Maxlite fixtures and these bulbs from Home Depot in 5000k. Very pleased with the results.

Big thanks to PS and everyone for the great information in this thread.

The page 1 LumeGen lamp was available in 5000K, but it doesn't show as a pull down option. I'd call the distributor for 5000K as their site could be wrong. 6000K is hard. Not many asking for it thus supply reflects demand.

I did a little searching and this 5000K 2400lm 20W Euri Lighting LED Hybrid ET8-1150H-20 (link) is a pretty good deal @ $10 ea. from HomeDepot (link).

texsasdiesel - Yes. It's a few lumens less (2420 vs 2640) and slightly less efficient (110 L/W vs 120 L/W). Price is the same as the out-of-stock GT-22W45KCF. At $6.75 it's still an exceptional deal worth taking advantage of if you don't want to wait.

I'm looking for lights in a 26'x33'x9' three car. I like the idea of 9 2x4 panels. I"m worried about the tight beam angle though. I think I need "side scatter" to light up under hoods and interiors. Whats a person to do?

2x4 Panel = 9000 lumens

Most LED linear tubes are listed as 120deg light distribution. A few claim 180deg, but I haven't seen a light distribution curve to show a difference. For instance, the two below from greenlightdepot.com claim 120 & 180 although have the same Light Distribution curve attached to the images.

4' LED Tube - 2420 lumens - 120deg
4' LED Tube - 2640 luens - 180deg

Can someone shed some light on beam angles?

gobeer net - Without an actual IES file there's no way to be sure. There's no way an edge lit flat panel is only 120° beam angle. The LEDs are facing the edge of the panel. It's possible (even likely) that the LEDs themselves have a 120° angle, but that's not what you'll get out of the fixture. Flat panels tend to have a wider distribution than your typical 120° retrofit bulb.

I spoke Green Depot last week and they are fairly low on stock for these bulbs. They expect to have a new version of this bulb with higher output for a similar price in the coming weeks. I'm not in a rush so I'm going to wait.

Thank you both for the quick information!

I recently installed 9 of the Maxlite fixtures and 18 of the Lumegen LED tubes (4000K, 22W, 2640 Lumen) in my 24X13x10' shop in a modified layout based on the program recommendations and clear directions via Platonic Solid. I modified layout slightly to accommodate overhead track shadows and move the fixture over the open overhead door to shine through the glass panel.

WOW - cool, comfortable daylight and zero shadows. I had my wife come in and turn them on - she jumped at the brightness (I did not warn her). Overall a very affordable and gratifying process. Thanks to Platonic Solid for keeping up two threads with the latest info!

Got the rest of my bulbs from light up today.

Half came ups, half usps.

Threw up one of the fixtures just to se what light looks like in my endless shop project.

Not super thrilled with the quality of the fixtures from Bees. I went to put the bulb in very gently and the end plate popped off. The sockets fit pretty loose also.

No big deal, once they are up will probably never touch them again.

Did someone mention a screw or pop rivet in the end plate to retain?
