Yes. Also did the rally drive (our twin was not there, just the red touring and ours) and the museum tour (I saw the twin there but could not find the owners). We stayed in a cabin in Hot Springs for a week so we were never around the official hotel.

I had big plans for it but life just keeps getting in the way. It took 20 years to get it to this point.... I was never going to finish it. The new owner is going to do something similar to what I had in mind, so I know it went to the right guy. Any way, the by product of selling the car meant that we have extra space in the basement.

We are going to "finish" part of the basement now that we have space. My wife has her office down there so we want to make it a little nicer for her, and also use it as a little lounge off the garage for when I have friends over. Here is a start.

Monday I hung out with the kiddos in the morning, we had Cars and Bottles in the backyard. They had to get their rides cleaned up.

I need to get some wood for it, and I have some hardware coming for that. In the mean time, I took it apart and started the process of "brushing" it. Sanded with 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000 and then brushed with some scotchbrite pads. I think its going to look pretty good.

Nick, my roof rack made a lot of noise from the air buffeting around the front. I installed a wedge on the front and it cut down the noise quite a bit. It wasn't bad around town but out on the highway it was annoying (A/C was rolled-down windows).

I got it up to about 75 yesterday with the windows down and sunroof open and it was quiet. But I will add something if it gets noisy.

Worked on the play houses a little last night. Put the flag up and weird spinny flower thing up in front of my daughter's.

I decided to hit everything with an extra fine scotchbrite pad, just to clean them up a little more. I am pretty happy with the results.

Didnt do anything this weekend, since I was at the beach. But my dad worked on the e9 a little.

Project cars are really never done....

The door cards are made of a compressed cardboard, and the drivers door was no longer holding the clips that attach it to the door. We found a company that was making new door cards out of wood. So we pulled the cards, pealed the pretty part off and glued it onto the wood panel.

So when I was trying to figure out the design the length ended up being just shy of 3 feet. Partly because the aluminum bar would be a little cheaper, partly because I liked where that size would fit on the car, but mostly because of this....

I drove it into work today and didnt even notice it on the car. Zero wind noise so far, but I didn't have the windows or sunroof open. I will know for sure on the way home tonight.

Pretty busy weekend.... Friday after work I had to go to a bday party for a little kid that my kids know. After we got our kids calmed down from the tantrums that come with leaving a fun event, I took care of a couple of projects. The battery life on the kids cars was pretty low, which caused more tantrums... so I put in larger capacity batteries. The "4 post lift" made it a little easier to work on them.

Saturday morning I got up early and met up with a couple of buddies to go to a car show.... It turns out, the show was actually on Sunday so we went and grabbed some coffee.

We had a friends wedding Saturday night so I really didnt do much else. Sunday I just chilled with the kiddos and stopped by to see my dad. I also checked out his new 4 post lift in the shop.

Have you tested the new batteries yet? I went a similar way but opted for Dewalt 20v battery adapters. (Un)fortunately the kids have the speed bug now. They Cry after getting bored at the ludicrisly high speeds that are available now... need to come up with a future plan... shifter cart?

They arent much faster, but they are now getting bored before the batteries die. So a lot less screaming and crying.

I haven't really done much the last few weeks. I took some time off over the 4th and had a great staycation with friends and family. Other than that, I have just been prepping for my annual trip to Oshkosh for work.

I did find a little time Saturday to sneak out to Cars and Coffee, so I took the opportunity to test out my roof rack.

This was honestly one of the first things I wanted to do when I got the car back in 2015, but other things always got in the way. I recently got a decent raise at work and this was my reward. I probably wont be on much over the next month or so but I have some projects and plans coming up so stay tuned.

Love the Nardi. I have a couple of them. And in the future if you want, you can change the horn button to a BMW logo (or leave Nardi - I have one with Nardi, other with car logo. Love both of them).

Note - next you are going to want driving gloves when you touch that wonderful wood. For a lot less money, horse riding gloves are identical but cost about 80% less.

It's been a busy month. I spent 12 days in Wisconsin working Airventure and then the weekend after I got back, my wife surprised me with trip to Louisville for my 40th bday. We spend a long weekend up there with my buddy and his wife hitting the bourbon trail, it was awesome. On Friday, I actually turned 40... everything hurts.

Car related, we put the E9 up on the lift to address some brake issues and to put the rear bumper under riders on.

While it was down, or up I guess, we decided to repaint the wheels. The color was wrong, and it was flaking in some spots.

I drove the E24 a bit last week but the AC blower fan failed, so now thats down.

I am hoping that the e9 will be ready to drive soon, I have a few things coming up that I would like to take it to. I had thought about putting twin Webers and a mild cam in the 02, but its running so good I dont want to mess it up. The plan now is to start working on installing the AC over the winter, and taking it to the Vintage next year. Other than that I have been trying to find time to clean/work on the other cars and get my garage organized again. I cleaned cars all day yesterday and then taught my little dude how to check tire pressure.

In other news, my wife and I have pretty much decided that we have outgrown this house. It will likely be going on the market next spring. We need more bedrooms, and since the tornado removed all of our shade the yard has been useless this summer. It will be sad to leave this house and garage but we are looking for a house with enough room to build a shop like my dads. When we do move, should I keep this thread going, or start a new one?

This is my vote, as well. Similar to how @dubber has a thread for each of his garage builds, it makes for easier navigation and if you link to your old one at the beginning, then all is well. Just my $.02.

When the time comes, I think I will be starting a new thread for the next garage and just link the old one in the signature. I know for a short period I will be dealing with both the new and old garage so for my situation it will be confusing as I bounce between garages.

Kind of a low key weekend. My wife and I took the kids to the aquarium Friday, and drove past a couple of houses we have been looking at online. Sadly, or thankfully, they arent going to work. Saturday I drove the 02 about 200 plus miles in 100 degree temps. I went to a BMWCCA meet at Road Atlanta. The car performed fine, but I have a ground issue that makes the temp gauge read higher around 60-75 mph. That added a little anxiety to the trip.

But the AC (a cheap cooling towel from amazon) and my stereo (one earbud) helped make the trip more pleasant... (they did nothing and it was miserable.)

The heat really took it out of me and I was dead tired when I got home but I saw some old friends and brought home a new paper weight. All and all it was a pretty fun day.

Sunday we drove past another house thats a strong maybe. It has a pool, and a detached shop, but the shop isnt set up as a garage and it has a HOA.... We will see but my wife wants to look at it.

Oh for sure, she was just hanging out with mama at that time. When we drop them off at my parents house she usually wants to go directly into the shop and crawl all over the cars.

Hey been a bit. Tomorrow we have a realtor friend coming to look at the house and walk us through what we need to do to list it. I guess its going to happen... Kinda sad. On the other hand, we have been working on the E9.

We have been chasing a sputter/fuel starvation issue all summer. When the car gets hot, it develops a poor running condition and has stalled a couple times. We checked the air fuel ratio and it was lean, so the first step was fatten it up.

That helped but the condition would still pop up occasionally. I found a post on an Opel Gt forum were someone was having the same issue and cured it by heat wrapping some of the fuel lines under the hood. His thought was that the heat was causing a vapor lock issue... worth a shot. We also swapped in a smaller fuel filter, this is a filter we added not an oem filter.

While it was down we also repaired and replaced the trunk trim. Its looking much nicer now.

I drove the E9 a lot this weekend. Went on a cruise with my buddies Friday. I had trouble hanging with the M2 and Polestar but I feel like I looked better doing it....

I also took it to cars and coffee Saturday and it was flawless. Fingers crossed, but I think we fixed the fuel issue.

I had an issue with my recently serviced Tissot chronograph over the weekend.

Apparently I was shifting a little too hard on Friday, because some of the balance spring ended up on top of this gear... Gave it a slight nudge and its back running like a.... well... Swiss watch.

I also helped my Dad work on the Wagoneer a bit. I didnt really drive it all summer because it was having a vapor lock issue. We wired in an Aux fuel pump similar to what we have in the E9. It should help with starting and pushing fuel through if it vapor locks.

Not pictured, but we did order an upgraded alternator for the 02 since the voltage light has basically been staying on. That should be installed this week I would think.
