I think my dad and I are going to actively try to sell the XJ wagoneer and the Cherokee Chief. Once the E9 is done we are going to work on the white 02 so it will likely go to my dads shop.
I certainly understand why you would sell the Jeeps to focus your energy on the BMWs, but selfishly I really want to see you work some magic on those awesome Jeeps!

the E9 looks nice and coming together. any timeframe on when you want it finished?

The goal is to have it drivable to a show in North Carolina in May..... of 2020. I have to put the year in there every time I talk to my dad, he says "it will be done in May..... but I don't know which one. ":lol_hitti

I got the sunroof in the M3 some what back together. I messed something up so the card doesn't move back when I put the roof in the vent position and I think the material I used is too thick. I will pull it all back apart soon but for now it looks good enough.

Saturday I spend the morning in my happy place. It was in the low 50's when I started washing so I really appreciated my hot water hook up. I started by washing my wife's Tahoe and boy did it need it. I need to wash it more often because it was pretty bad. I did finally get to try P&S Brake buster on wheels that were actually dirty. It worked great and it might be the best tire cleaner I have ever used.

Sadly during this process I noticed some odd wear on the front tires so this little wash became expensive. I had to order two 20" Michelin's and made an appointment for an alignment next Monday. That being said, this thing does clean up pretty nice, and I need to do a full detail this winter.

After that I gave the wagon and wash and enjoyed all my white cars being clean for once.

Sunday, I had planned on going to a car show or going on a mountain drive with some buddies but I woke up early Sunday morning puking my guts up. Sunday was mostly spent napping and watching youtube videos.

For sure a pinstripe, debage and rub strip removal  Looks clean though!

It really needs a detail and the bumpers repainted. Shes not big on modding cars but she does want to white or black out the bow ties. Its kinda nice having a normal car around the house. :lol_hitti

Speaking of.... I removed my gas pedal last night.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And installed a pedal tuner. It cleans up all the lag associated with the drive by wire set up. I need to dial in the settings but race mode is way too strong. It has stock, stage 1, 2, 3. I think I have stage 1 set up for daily driving and Im working on a stage 2 set up for spirited driving. Its pretty cool to just reach down and change the car like that.

So after putting the pedal tuner in and enjoying the better throttle response the mod bug has kinda bitten me. I did some research and it looks like the best bang for the buck is to swap and intake manifold from an earlier e90 330I and have the ecu flash tuned. This nets 30 or so hp and runs about $1000 total. Add an exhaust and intake box and you are looking at almost 50hp. Nothing earth shattering but it could be fun. The wagon is supposed to be my daily and I have other stuff I need to buy but it is very interesting. During my research I found there is a "Free mod" for the airbox.

It seems BMW put a charcoal filter in the airbox to filter the filtered air that the air filter filtered.

latest

Anyway, its free.... Why not? So I pulled the airbox.

As you can see there is a gray filter in addition to the filter..... for filtering.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Basically you just cut it out with a box cutter, and then clean up the edges with some sand paper.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I put it all back together and took it on a test drive to the local beer shop to pick up some celebratory IPA. The results were astounding..... I mean I cant even explain the amount of raw power............ Ok it did nothing. Nothing at all. Oh well, I guess I might have to do the intake manifold after all.

Here is the link to the tuner. It allows for finer adjustments than putting it in sport.

https://burgertuning.com/products/bms-pedal-tuner

And its a 328i. RWD!

I had a Pedal Commander on my Raptor. Had so many different options to customize it. I had it set somewhere in the middle and it drove great. Anything higher and I’d chirp the rear wheels anytime I tried moving from a stop. Which may sound like fun at first, but got super annoying really quick.

BTW, what wheel brush do you use? My wife's two sets of wheels each have annoying little gaps which are hard AF to clean well.

And this little 4 finger wash mitt.

You can get the brushes anywhere but Obsessed garage is the only place I have found the mitts.

It really doesn't do anything but I did it as well. K&N filter and the charcoal delete. I very much want to do the 3IM upgrade but I have too much up in the air right now.

I have german eibach springs and koni fsd's sitting in the garage waiting to be put on

As a Dad who reads a lot of Dr. Seuss books, that made me laugh.

I was going for Pimp My Ride but I am honored to be compared with Dr. Seuss. Haha.

Same here. The M3 needs some love and I just cant justify spending the money on the wagon right now. My wife wanted to go to an antique shop yesterday and there are some great roads in the area so I took the wagon out on mountain roads for the first time. For an under powered automatic it was pretty fun. I think its going to stay as is for a little while.

Well I haven't done much on the garage except for move all the antiques and stuff my wife has crammed into it. With the time change and it getting dark at 5pm I have started looking into the wash bay/carport project again. I did a quick little drawing(not to scale) of the concrete pour I would likely need. I don't know why I used inch markings but they should be in feet.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

This would add about 12' to the over all depth of the driveway to make the wash bay roughly 20x20. This would allow for the wagon and the Tahoe to have covered parking and also allow for more room to maneuver a trailer, which with the antique business picking up is happening more often. With covered parking for the wagon, I could start keeping both the M3 and the 02 in the garage full time and free up space in my dads shop. Now to get concrete estimates.

I did some better measurements over the weekend and a slightly better drawing. The new pours would be the highlighted dims.

I hope to get some quotes in the next week or so.

Great plan for the additional space for the wash bay. Curious, as I'm not sure if its more of a country or area specific thing, but had you also considered asphalt?

Your actual garage is 22x20? I would've sworn it was way bigger.
Kinda gives me hope. I'm in the slow (tediously slow) process of searching for a piece of land, and each and everyone I find that's (kind of) affordable is way too small to have a shed of at least 24x24 (that's what I'm aiming towards, at least).
Back to Sweet Home 3D it is :)

Its 22x20 for the main box but the area with the table and walk through door is an additional 8x11.

Oh, ok.
Thanx. I'm trying to figure out how to fit a 21x21ish (ish, because we use meters here, not feet), in a 32.8x131.2ft land, that's the most common and affordable type o land you can buy in this town.

Sorry for the thread-jacking, if and when I finally buy, I'll open my own thread. I'm gonna need all of GJ's experience, expertise and advice.

No worries on the thread jack, but I'm not the right person to ask that. Haha. I'm sure there are some experts on here that will know though.

I received an email from the the concrete people I have used before and they are going to try to get by the house sometime in the next week to get an estimate. I cant believe I might actually have a wash bay in the next few months.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, I had zero Thanksgiving type food. My mother in law has had some health stuff recently and my brother in law didn't come home so they skipped turkey day. My mom didn't feel like cooking this year so my wife and I went over and grilled some steaks and ate dinner with my parents. It was actually a really nice day. We just relaxed and took the 02 out for a little cruise.

Another kinda slow weekend around the shop. I really need to pull everything out and clean up all the leaves but I have been lazy. My garage door sensor mounts have randomly failed so have to manually hold the button down to close the door, I will be addressing that this week. I also had a tail light bulb failure light come on, and when I checked the bulb I found that the tail light was melted. Someone installed the wrong sized bulb. So rather than just buy one new assembly, I decided it was time for an upgrade. These should be here tonight.

My wife wanted to get our Christmas tree this weekend so Saturday morning we picked it up. In keeping with tradition, I wanted to take something other than a pickup. So far we used my old lifted Grand Cherokee, the 2002 and the Wagoneer last year. This year was the wagon's turn.

IMG_7511-3 by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Not as cute and Christmas card worthy as the 02 and Wagoneer but I think the pic came out awesome. The rest of the day was dedicated to football and beers. Sunday we took the 02 out to a show and had to make a pit stop at The Varsity for lunch. If you haven't been, the food is awful, the people are rude, and its usually busy. For some reason I love it.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

We got back from the show and did nothing the rest of the day, which was lovely. I actually woke up in a great mood, ready to get to work and knock this week out. The BMW gods had other plans.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Based on the temps this morning, my guess is that this CEL is for the T-stat so it looks like I need to address that, and the water pump soon. Happy Monday.

Hope it's a simple fix on the wagon CEL.

My guess is that its for the electronic thermostat. While I am in there Ill do hoses, fluid flush and change, and the electronic water pump while I am in there. Yes, the t stat and water pump are electric for some reason. :lol_hitti

I get the water pump but the T Stat is confusing... the normal one is pretty fool proof

Who knows, thankfully its not too difficult and the coolant needs a change anyway.

My tail lights showed up last night.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Of course I sealed them with Jescar Powerlock, and why that was curing I removed the stock lights and cleaned behind them. It wasnt too bad behind them.

And the final product.

I really think these change the whole look of the car. Now I kinda want to lower it a little.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I did notice that both of the outer assemblies were pretty melted around the tail light bulb. Im not sure if this is a common issue but I need to find some LED bulbs to protect these housings.

This wagon is getting better and better with every mod you make. I woulnd't lower it more tbh. It's got a nice stance the way it is!

Super rare of me saying this: I wouldn't do anything else to it, looks wise at least. Being it is a Daily Driver, I feel like it's at a point where it stands out, it's gorgeous, and throwing any more money at it, would mean not throwing it at the E9, 2002 o E36. Just my 2cts!

Hey there, that wagon is looking good! I'd like to lower my cars but there's so many pot-holes and speed bumps down here it's crazy.

How about the washbay update pictures?? I'm pouring some concrete myself and building a little steel structure to cover my vehicles and wash them, there's a long way to get to spec though (even further to "OG spec" lol).

Cheers,

Luis A.

I havent started the wash bay yet. The plan is a 20x20 foot print to allow parking for the wagon and the Tahoe. I would like to do a wood structure that would match the house an deck but I am also looking into carports. As for the wash part of the wash bay, I plan on building a small insulated room with a door I can slide open allowing me to roll out my hose. I don't know if a boom poll is really work the expense.
