So remember the broken camera lens... this was the picture I was taking when it broke.

My wife and I have a couple little drivers on the way the fall.

Congratulations! Life changes quickly with little ones around - our #2 is due in 2-3 weeks which should be interesting with the current state of things. The projects slow a little and sleep is a thing of the past but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Having both at once is going to be so much fun for y'all.

Once things clear up a bit we need to link up since you're just a few miles from me, I'd love to check out the 02

Congratulations on the Twins coming this fall!

my twin girls are 13 and a the source of much fun and entertainment. Especially when they get to bothering and messing with their older brothers.

Sorry missed this earlier, we should try to work something out when the outbreak is over. :lol_hitti

Nick, double congratulations! How happy are your parents?

Both sets of grandparents might be more excited than us.

That's awesome! Breaking an expensive camera trying to take a simple picture is an excellent welcome to parenting [emoji23]

My daughter's ability to equally reward and defeat me never ceases to amaze me. Congratulations on two awesome blessings!

Congratulations!
I saw the photo last night and thought "oh cool, twin 507s" and completely missed the the sentence at the bottom. Then I read all the follow-up messages this morning. Oops.

Thanks again everyone. In motorized baby news, the progress on the e9 continues. The front end damage is coming out nicely.

He lined everything up with the headlight grill and its really fitting well.

My dad went over yesterday to pull the door cards and trim. With the door cars off he can work the dents out of the doors. This is basically going to be a full repaint now. We arent going glass out, our body guy seems to think can work around the glass gaskets. Remember the plan was to build a driver, not a show car.

We also got one of the wheels painted. Not the oem silver but it will look good. Again, I hope to swap these for BBS or Weds in the future.

It must be tempting not to go overboard on the e9. I think your driver will be pretty close to a show car by the time you are done with it.

We are trying to avoid doing that. Haha.

This was a horribly boring weekend, I miss doing things. I got my replacement lens so I went out Friday night to test it. It was a little late so the lighting sucked and I had to over edit these a bit. I stopped by a hotel that was once a Walking Dead set, and an overpass to a factory that is normally busy.

Saturday, I drove the 02 a lot. I went over to my parents and put the M3 up on the lift to try to find the source of my front end shake under braking. I think its a warped rotor so I ordered a new set. I also drove my dad around for a while. He needed to get out of the house. I got so bored that I went to bed around 9pm. Haha.

Sunday I got up early and gave the wifes Tahoe a good wash, detailed the engine, and replaced the burnt out daytime running light. This thing needs a proper detail badly. Hopefully the wash bay will be put up soon.

I spend the rest of the day, drinking and cooking a massive steak I picked up from my buddies shop.

I ended the night polishing off a bottle of red wine and smoking a cigar with my dog. I think I am going to end up with cirrhosis long before Covid. I am ready for life to get back to normal.

Love your garage man! You have great taste in cars! That Wagoneer is beautiful!

I have a huge soft spot for a BMW estate, my wife and I would love to find an F30/31 wagon for her but with good cause she is picky about the options colors she wants. Love the 02, E9 and M3 as well man! This motivates me to give me e34 some love this weekend. Glad to see someone else with such a great diverse taste in vehicles.

Congrats on the kiddos on the way!

Hell yeah! Can't wait to see this thing done and on the road.

Me too.

Thank you I appreciate it.

Last night I started to work on the passenger seat from the E9. I ordered a Colourlock kit to dye some of the bad areas but first I had to clean it with their heavy cleaner. Here is the seat before cleaning.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

After giving the seat a good cleaning.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I started to just dye the bad areas on the seat bottom but the leather was faded and it looked pretty bad. Re-cleaned stripping all the dye and decided to do the whole seat laying the dye on a little thicker and it started to look amazing. This is after I finished dying the seat bottoms.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And after I finished a section on the seat back.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And the finished product. I did not dye the headrest, and its a perfect match. I guess the leather "faded" or stained over the years to the darker color. I need to get some leather shield on it tonight or tomorrow but its looking good.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Its not perfect and it still shows a little wear but I like the originality and quality of the oem leather. Now I need to do the rest of the leather.

Love how they came out!

Seeing that colour, can't help but think of the custom Recaros Singe uses on their 911s, in that colour. Still waiting for somebody/some company to do 2002s/E9s, Singer Style hehe!

The Scheel seats kinda remind me of Singer. They are crazy expensive if you can find them.

I love following your story. Nice garage and great work on that leather seat, I agree - there's nothing better than OEM leather.

Keep posting!

I might have some more updates tonight or tomorrow on the leather, I went and picked up the back seats and a couple of other parts last night. Along with some essentials.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I might as well get as much done as I can, there's nothing else to do.

Ew, at least kill your liver with something worth drinking!!

Slim pickings at the gas station I went to. I picked up some better stuff from my local growler shop last night.

I got some front brake rotors for the M3 and I popped it up on the lift.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I got the passenger side torn down and pulled that rotor out of the box.... Yeah this isnt going to work.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I emailed FCP and they have been great about it and should have another one out to me today. Rather than mess with the M3, I grabbed my mom's wagon and took it home to wash it. I think Sir Mix-a-Lot has a song about this.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Sunday we had an early Easter dinner with the inlaws and then I planted a Japanese Maple I have had in a pot for a few years. I haven't dug a hole since I was kid building BMX jumps, it wore me out. If I ever murder someone they are going to be buried in an extra shallow grave.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And finally I replaced all my interior lights in my wagon with LEDs. I bought a kit from a company, they emailed me to tell me that I actually needed this $100 kit. Rather than that, I pulled some bulbs, wrote down what I needed and spent about $30 and I have spare. There are a lot of bulbs in this car.

Hahaha shallow grave!! You aren’t kidding though, digging holes is not fun. We like Japanese maples. We had one planted when we did our landscaping at this house. It’s turning out really great.

FCP Euro has excellent customer service. And an added benefit of living two states over is that I can typically get the free shipping option which is ground shipping, and it usually gets to my house within two days, anyway.

Where did you try getting the bulbs from initially? And where did you end up getting them from? They look great!

I have this Japmap for a few years, and I haven't killed it. I figured I could handle two. My dad has a friend that grows them and then gives them away so I got both of mine for free.

I love FCP for wear items. I seem to warp a rotor every time I go up to Deals Gap, so I figured I would take advantage of their warranty service.

Someone linked me to the LEDs, either in this thread or on another forum. I cant remember the company name, but it was like $30 for a E90 kit, and almost $100 for the wagon so I put my own together. I had some bulbs left over from my white Grand Cherokee.

Oh I almost forgot. My buddy was supposed to get married Saturday but he had to push the service back to the Fall. They went ahead and had a small service in their back yard with immediate family(like 7 people) and invited the wedding party to watch on zoom. Since we were only going to be seen from the waist up, all the groomsmen decided to dress crazy from the waist down. I won..... and yes the tie is a clip on.

I cant tie a tie to save my life, I'm left handed and no one every taught me right because everyone is right handed. I have to have my wife tie them. Haha. Let me know if your going to make it in August. Id love to have you over for a cruise in the e9(hopefully) and some bbq.

Loving the thread man! I'm a fellow bimmerphile myself...have a 95 M3. Wish I had more time& energy to get my cars detailed.

I was wondering, did you use a purple on your wall stripe, or just a dark blue?

I dont wear a tie often enough to get practice. If one or both of the twins are boys I am going to have to get my poop in a group and learn how to do it. :lol_hitti

Thank you. I used navy. The specs in the epoxy are red, navy, and light blue because I couldnt find a purple that wasnt way too purple. I basically used the modern m colors.

On a side note, I hope everyone is doing well and staying entertained. I got so bored the other night that I opened up the garage door and looked down on my cars from the deck and drank a beer. I cant wait for car meets to start happening again.

Nice shot. Thinking many are looking forward to getting back to their Norm. But many might just say I enjoy the down time and the family time that we have been thrust back into.
