I've had good watch work done by Jin's in Roswell. Not your side of town. FWIW a CLA for $450 isn't a high price.

I have another local guy I am going to talk to, but for now I am just going to wear it occasionally. $450 isn't bad but it works great now and I doubt the watch is worth more than that.

I swear I posted this last week but I guess it didn't save. Tuesday on the way home from work I drove through some bad storms, and I came home and saw this.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

My wife and I were leaving for our beach house the next day directly after work so this was an issue. Especially since it was completely blocking the neighbors driveway. Thankfully my neighbor works for the city and he called the power company to cut the branches off the wires.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

They left them all right in front of my mailbox so I had to drag it all to the other side of the driveway.

I couldn't get my chainsaw to start, I guess you have to start stuff like once a decade or so... I called my FIL to see if he had a chain saw I could use and he came over with a little electric pole saw. It took a while but we got the log down.

Where I left it on Tuesday night. Wet, tired, and ready to pack for my trip.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

My Father in law offer to cut it up and to drop another branch on the tree while we were on our trip, which was very nice of him to do. So we hit the road Wed night directly after work. It was a little weird at the beach with all the rona stuff. The city we were in required masks pretty much everywhere but restaurants so we kept it pretty low key. Really just went to the beach, watched some racing at the house, and grilled out. I missed my Big Green Egg.

After a couple days of sandwiches on the beach, hot dogs and take out we did risk it to hit one of my favorite steak houses. I got a small beer.

We got home from the beach Sunday afternoon. We had ordered some cameras for the house and they had shown up while we were gone. I got them set up right away. We have a few around the house and since we had a spare I put one up in the wash bay. They were fairly cheap so I wasn't expecting much, but they turned out to be pretty nice.

And nightvision.

I took Monday off as well so I got up and washed the grime and bugs off my wifes Tahoe since we took it on our trip. I kinda forgot about the camera so I have a whole video of the wash process now. I have to remember to turn if off in the app if I am washing a car. It does take pretty good video though.

Strange. I had seen your photos of the tree falling, and don't think it was on your Insta, so not sure where they went.

I think something happened with the forum's DB, because I've been seeing a lot of OPs reposting stuff I've already seen aswell.
It's either that, or you and me are seeing the future my friend :spit:

I know I posted them, could it have been deleted? Not sure why it would have been. Oh well. Also I my phone was going nuts with the alerts from the camera, I was trying to turn it off. Haha.

Do you mind sharing the make/model of the cameras you got? I'd like to add a few around the house but don't want to spend a fortune.

Small update on the camera systems. I charged two of them fully a week ago Sunday, and as of today they are still at full bars as for battery life. The wash bay one was never charged out of the box and I played with it a lot, so it was half dead. I charged it yesterday so I will keep track of it. We also caught our first intruder. I was at a car meet up in Atlanta and got an alert from the one covering the garage, got him!!!

Hai.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I also hung out with some Japanese cars on Saturday. I just told them it was a 510.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And my newest obsession, my buddy imported an e36 wagon and now I have to have one.

Hey Nick - so funny you mention the E36 Touring - for whatever reason, I'm totally into them as well. I love the lines and the fact we never got them here, has made me want one so bad the last few years.

So ... two weeks ago - I bought one in Japan. It's an Alpina B6 2.8 Touring - Silver exterior and a blueish interior. Auto, but I think doing a full S52/5-speed swap is likely in the future. Left hand drive too! #6 of 136 made. We'll have to see how it is when it gets here but it's scheduled to ship any day now - landing in Long Beach. Hopefully you get one as well - I'd love to follow along with a project like that!

I've been a member of Auto Access Japan for a while now - hoping I could score an E31 with Sport Seats (I have an E31 850 6-speed) or a rare Alpina or a rare-spec E34. Just recently they started to expose a section called "One-price" - which is essentially a buy it now option. I searched for a few days and came across this one and frantically reached out to the guy who owns Auto Access Japan. He called over to the selling dealer and made it happen.

Pretty darn stoked, to say the least.

I'm confused...how is it that Japan's the spot to import a LHD German car from? :wtf:

Nice looking wagon regardless :)

From what I understand, the LHD E36 Alpina B6 touring only hit the Japanese market. There were other E36 Touring models that Alpina did for Europe. Regardless, eager to get my hands on it.

Well my wife had a couple friends over last night to discuss babies and stuff so I went to the garage. I had recently read an article by a 2002 guru about fuel filters causing starting issues and I have some starting issues. Apparently 2002's never had fuel filters and most people will install them just before the engine driven fuel pump, this can apparently cause an air pocket that will cause the car to have trouble starting. So I yanked the filter out and ran a new filterless fuel line.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

The new line.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I set the choke and it seemed to start a little better and it certainly held idle better. I shut it down and looked for a way to plumb a filter. The line between the pump and carb always bothered me so I yanked it.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And plumbed in a filter I had laying around.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I cranked it up off the choke to prime it, set the choke and tapped the key and it started right up. I backed the car out and let it warm up, it ran great and held idle but the filter is a pos and it leaked. So I pulled it back in, had a few beers and removed the filter completely.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

It seems to be running great with no leaks. I haven't really driven it since I had...several beers but it was idling perfect. I may work a filter back in the system but since the in tank pump has a screen it may not be necessary.

I added some scoops to the e91 last night. I know they do nothing but I think they look cool. I ordered them from Rush Customs, since they are close to me and I wanted them in blue. I plan on doing the M performance blue brake calipers eventually, honestly probably never but I would like them, so I wanted these to kinda match. Before I installed them, I coated them to keep them clean.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

While the grilles were out I also cleaned and coated the rubber and plastic trim behind them, I know I have a problem. Then I installed the scoops.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And the finished product. Again I know they do nothing but I think it looks pretty cool. I would swear that the throttle response is a little better but I did wear different shoes today so who knows.

Now that I have indulged my riceyness, this brings back fond memories of going to the Nopi Nationals haha, I have some maintenance issues to work on this weekend. I was being cheap or stupid when I put the 3 stage intake on and didnt replace the DISA valves, and of course one is failing. I will likely pull the intake manifold off this weekend to replace the #2 DISA.

Keep in mind with your 2002 there’s not a high pressure fuel pump to grenade when it fails, as long as the fuel tank is sound internally, a screen alone is likely fine so long as you aren’t filling up from drums of fuel that have been sitting around. [emoji1303]

It's a blessing in disguise with that glass fuel filter having a leak. Those are known to shatter and causing fuel to spray everywhere and catch on fire. Maybe look into some of the AN filters with a micro screen and come up with something that's clean looking?

That is my thinking. But I may look into filters. I drove it around Saturday and the filter was starving it for fuel, it revs so much better now and pulls all the way to red line. I think its up to 80hp now. Haha

I have been looking, and that filter was garbage. It made its way to the trash last night. I might just get off my **** and put the side draft 40dcoes on.

Saturday morning I woke up bright and early to address the CEL on the wagon. I am getting codes for a DISA valve failure, and of course its the one that requires the manifold to be removed. I jumped in the car to pull it in the garage and light was off. I looked the car over and started to gather tools and... decided to wait. I just really didnt want to pull it all apart even though the parts are sitting on the work bench. Hof judging me for being lazy.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Rather than tearing the engine down, I gave it a wash.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Then I took a long cruise in the 02 to test out the fuel system and as I said earlier, it is running much better.

Sunday morning I was going to go to a carshow in Atlanta but they made it clear that they wanted everyone to wear masks, and it was hot as hell and I didnt want to deal with it. I decided to tackle the oil change and filter housing gasket on the M3. I started off with a Liqui Moly flush.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I drained the oil and pulled the filter housing.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

While I was pulling the housing I noticed that the gasket was probably okay and the leak was likely from the Vanos oil supply hose. I got one of those on order. Since the car isnt going anywhere for a few days I ran home to get the steamer and cleaned up around the leak.

Before.

After.
Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I got a lift home and ran some errands. I found this cool little alley while driving around.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And ended the weekend by sampling a couple bourbons I recently picked up. Both were very good.

Once my basement is finished, I need to up my bourbon game. We were originally going to have a bar built during the finishing, but decided to instead focus on having more open space. So we are going to be adding some lower cabinets in one area of the basement, and they will be book-ending both a wine fridge and mini fridge. We envision slapping a butcher block on top of that as a sort of serving area for when we have people over. And above that on the wall, we plan on adding some nice shelving for our liquor. So that's when I'll start buying some bottles. I'll have to touch base with you when the time gets closer to pick your brain on some must-haves.

I think I've spotted a replacement for your wagon.....

If only we could get them in the states... and I had a lot more money.

My dad went to check on the e9 today and well the paint guy hasn’t done much. He and I were talking and we figured out that he dropped it at the paint shop the day my wife and I found out she was pregnant. We had a funny conversation about it.
