Cool shop, Breeze. I like the rustic outside and the stuff you have done inside that furthers that old time look (bell, Esso oil drip man, etc.). Nice Fairlane, too!
My Dad had one of those allen key socket sets, takes me back.

Thanks Hemihead... The shop would look even better if it had your Hemi 32 Ford in there LOL! I still have a long ways to go, but I'm getting there,

Breeze ! Love your spot . Just found a sec from building to snoop around to "borrow" some ideas. Wish I could OSB my walls but code here doesnt allow it attached to the house. Did you make your Garage decals ? They look awesome. I hope I can make my Garage half as cool as yours someday.

Gord... Yours will be, I wish I had an upstairs as well as taller ceilings for a lift like you have. LOL! The OSB works, I would like to paint the walls some day. As far as the decals go yes, I make them.

Last night I thought I would liven up my old Arrow rolling toolbox. I've had this one since back in the mid 80's. It was all rusted up back then, and over the last 20 years got all rusty again, I sanded her down, primed and painted her up, but was lacking some cool factor. I thought the Clay Smith Cam logo fit the bill. I wanted to let the age show through the new paint. The, box I believe is from the 50's and was made in Mayville NY if I recall right.

Man great garage! And the car, oh man the car! That's one of my all time favorites, a dream car of mine. Before I bought my GT500 I had really thought about hunting down a 66/67 to rebuild instead, but I just don't have the space for major project right now and had to "settle" for the Shelby. Some day I'll have a real garage and then I'll get to start a real project to go along with it.

You really have some talent for signs! Awesome work. Garage is perfect and the house and land are gems.

Thanks... owning a small sign shop has it's advantages.
I like your car, I used to have a 64 Polara 500 as well... It was a hardtop with a 440 4 speed, black with a crushed velvet interior done in red and gray.

Jktruck150... your welcome LOL!... Yeah it seems the Fairlane has stolen the show. It fits in well though. I could do a Garage Journal Decal and put it on the toolbox... That would look pretty cool above the Clay Smith Cams... I wonder... hmmm now you got me thinking...

LOL, ok ok, maybe I didn't exactly "settle" :bounce: But I would give a slightly used but well taken care of kidney and one used, slightly damaged but still in serviceable condition soul for a 66/67 Fairlane and the garage to keep it in:bowdown:

Naki... I have seen your place, and it is truly amazing what you've done with it. Glad your feeling better since the kidney stone episode. Is that a '59 Caddy you have? Hope you don't get pelted by too much snow! LOL

Breeze, love the shop. I have always found that it's the little things that make the shop/home/hot rod. I can't wait to get my shop built, and stuffed with tools and projects. You got a great place, a great shop, a great car and definately talent.

The Stude is an awesome car! Any timeslips?

Scott

No, I never took this one down the track. It was a dragcar back in the 60's and sat around for 20+ years with 6-7 different owners. I owned that car for 3 years building it, before I ever got to drive it. I was the first one to actually get it back to street legal since the 60's. We estimated it around 700 horses. It launched straight and hard ( and got about 4 miles to the gallon ) LOL but I didn't care! I traded it for a 1964 Dodge Polara 500 with a 440 - 4 speed. I traded it because With 3 kids, and only 2 seats, it didn't work too well doing Family/car events. Shortly after the Dodge was finished, the wife became an Ex and took the kids with her, Along with the dodge that I had to sell, and give the $$$ to her. I vowed that if I ever got married again it would be to a woman who is into cars as much as me. Then I met Linda... and life is good. She Loves the car scene, and we have a great time bombing around in the Fairlane with our friends. The Stude is in good hands right now and I have made friends with the newest owner, but the Guy I traded to, turned it into a Pro Street car, Thus losing it's Gasser history. The owner of it now races it alot as well as drives it on the street, It runs in the 10's. He took it to Maplegrove Pa for the Pinks All Out earlier this year, and busted the crank in two, so it's in his shop for the rest of the year building a new bigger motor. I will post a pict of it as it looks now.

Breeze: Try a black softer hose on the bell and just prior to putting the bolt into the end of the hose try blowing air (only lung pressure not compressor pressure) just before plugging with the bolt. See if this helps in making the bell work properly.

It maybe the hose is to hard, I tried to find the "softest" one, and you can squeeze it pretty good with your fingers. It doesn't require much lung pressure at all to make it ring, thats why I was surprised it acts up the way it does. My wife thinks I'm crazy, cause when I pull into the shop and it doesn't ring, I"ll back up and go over it again, so it does LOL!

I got this old porcelin light fixture today. It came with a little bit of history. I was told it was originally hanging at the old Maddox Furniture Co. in Jamestown NY. As you can see, it has been in storage with 20+ years of dust on it.
View media item 5427
After a little windex... she came out really nice. The porcelin is in great shape with only a spot on the inside, and a spot on the out side of any rust

View media item 5430I want to hang this between the two garage doors near the top of the peak. I need to contact my cousin Brad to wire it in. This will illuminate the gas pump area when it gets restored after, plus I was thinking of making a sign for the garage, and it will light that up as well.

I was wondering if anyone knows what this bench mount tool/ vise is used for? I haven't tried to googling it yet, I got this a few years back, It was free and I thought it was cool... Someone told me they thought it was for clamping hand saws in to sharpen them? it only opens about 1/8 "

Breeze,

Hello from down Sydney Australia.

Just gotta tell you I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your thread in my now 2 and a half hour lunch break *shrugs*.

You have a beautiful property and fantastic car. I did have (until my son was born 4 years ago) an original numbers 68 Mustang Hardtop. Beautiful car!! The Fairlane is very rare here in 2 door form, mostly all were sold here as Galaxy 4 doors and were used by the police department for a short period for their detectives here in Sydney. A mate's dad was a D and used to pick us up from soccer in it from time to time. You never forget the sound!!.

Also, interesting to follow your interest in old tools. My dad is a (now retired) Toolmaker and has cupboard loads of old tools he acquired and hand made. I love going over them with him when I catch up with him and we have a bit of time to spare. Will try and get some photos up to share. Some of it is quite unique and as you say, the stories they can tell.

Again thanks for sharing.

Wantsom... Thank You, I do enjoy old things, whether it is old cars, tools, pretty much anything actually. The Fairlane has definately stolen the show here LOL! I need to put a picture of the powerplant under the hood. It sounds as good as it looks (nothing quite like the sound of a big block). The car should be repainted someday, but I really don't know if I want to. The paint on that car is acrylic enamel, and was painted in 1981... yep 29 years ago. It is showing it's age up close, I see it , but most others don't. I know if it gets painted, then I would be paranoid of scratching it, Right now I enjoy pounding it out on the street, and don't have to worry about little old ladys leaning up against it.
