I got this from my wifes stepdad when they moved from their house into an apartment. I should have taken a picture of it before I repainted it. It was approximately the color of one shot's process green, with an orange seat. Brutal color choice... I had some left over paint from my Walker jack restore, so I used it on this. An Amish guy up the road from me recovered that ugly orange cracked seat. I think it would have looked better if the stool was bright red to match the tool chests though, but it's okay for now.

The Wayne pump never had a globe on it. I am tossed with the idea of putting one on it . I really like the looks of the globes, I want to put the pump outside of the shop, probably between the two doors. I'm not sure how fragile those glass globes are. With living in the woods, and branches falling, weed wacking around the shop, snow blowing etc. I would hate to break one. Looking at repro globes, I really like the ESSO script one. I thought of painting it up and putting an ESSO tiger on the doors, with their slogan "Put a Tiger in your tank" I really haven't made up my mind on it yet. I would like to start on it here in a month or two , but it will probably be a winter project.
I was telling a buddie of mine about wanting to get an old porcelin light fixture and he said I got one you can have. It will be neat once it's up. I actually like the gooseneck ones a little better appearance wise but this will work fine and it was free... you can't beat free.

I picked this up this past Sunday while we were at a cruse-in. They had a small flea market area there. The lady was un-nogotiable... I offered her $ 3.00 for it, and she gave me that old school marm look and said "NO' , so I put it back and thought , she'll take that price at the end of the day if she doesn't sell it. An hour later,I sent a buddie of mine over to see if she would sell it to him for $3, She told him "NO!" too... " I've been offered 3 dollars all day for that thing". So at the end of the day when she was packing up, I paid her asking price of $5.00. LOL I placed a quarter on it to show how small it really is. surprisingly it opens 1 1/2 inches. I just thought it was the cutest little thing.View media item 5431 The only marks on it say "Japan"

Hey Breeze,

I think there are some Lexan globes out there. They may be the kind where it's actually three pieces - frame and two lenses - so that should take your mind off the chance of losing an original one. Or you could get the plastic ones that are re-popped.

My concern is having that pump acting negatively as a sign saying, "Hey Cool stuff inside, all you garage theiving bastards!." Guess it depends on your 'Hood, eh?

I hear ya JC... I live in a pretty remote area where shotguns do the talking, if the Dogs don't get them first.:yikes: As far as the globes go, if I get one it would definately be a re-pop, and the ones I've seen are the metal rim with 2 lenses. I don't mind where it is now, inside the garage, and it might just stay there once refurbished.

Breeze,

Great garage! I love the cool oldies you have and your sign work also. The Fairlane looks "bad to the bone". Thanks for posting.

Let me be the twentieth:headscrat to say: :bowdown:AWESOME shop, house, property, tools, paraphenalia and CARS!!! How did I miss this thread??(Spending too much time in the Garage and Fab areas I guess!).

I have a 67 Galaxie Convertible with the Fairlane treatment. It's a 390 but I just sourced a 427 for it. Hopefully that'll go in this winter and maybe look a little(!) closer to your beauty!

Also, love the ability you have with the signs and designs. I built a race car for my wife years back and was in awe of the sign guy's skills. I designed my logo and had it made in lots of sizes for the car, my toolboxes, the walls and more. I wish I could do more!

Thanks for sharing it all - a good hour spent! Oh and one last thing, that guy you work with who sold you the $2 box for $30....he's a ****!:bounce:

Cheers Breeze!

e-tek... Thank you. I do the same thing when I totally miss a cool thread LOL! I really like your convertable. The color is very rich looking on that car. Ford had some nice looking cars, back in the day. Though mine is a 427 clone, The bored out 390 ( now 413) is no slouch. It will run with the best of them, but as they always say,"There's no substitute for cubic inches"... congrats on the 427 score! I work a full time job as well as the sign biz on the side which sometimes becomes full time as well ( hate them 90 hour weeks though ;) )
I enjoy the sign work as long as it's creative.
That guy that sold me the box... can be ... But I got it for a steal too so I figured I win as well. hahaha

Well I should know a good install when I see one as I have been a dealer for Cool-Flex for many years now. I put all purple Cool-Flex on the Cummins in my F4.

HOTFR8... I just went through your build thread. The Beast is pretty awesome! I like what you have done to it. There is a Cummins plant about 10 miles from my house. It's a huge facility. My Dad, Mom and Wife used to work there.

Breeze, I just wanted to say how entertained I was by your thread. Our taste in garages and cars differ greatly, and we live on opposite sides of the globe, but I was so fascinated by your garage, the things in it, your tools, interests ... I coudn't help but chuckle when I noted you were restoring an old lamp, just like the fellow fixing his garage in Italy. Different cultures, but a common thread. You have a lovely place. Is that in upstate NY? I spent a year in Ithaca a long time ago. Anyway, thank you for posting.

Abstamaria... Ashville is south of Buffalo about 70 miles. Yes we have different cultures, but all in all, are quite the same. Thanks for the kind words, they are very much appreciated.

Thanks Dustoff. I have learned alot on the Garage Journal as well. Neat little tricks and great ideas from so many different places all over the world. I am glad you enjoy this thread. As far as the purple goes, it is an actual Ford Fleet color they painted their trucks in. Thanks for realizing it was purple, and not dark pink like the pictures show on my screen LOL! Someday you will have the shop of your dreams, and the bright side of this site is, you have a bunch of great people with valuable knowledge from the past, that can really help you out as you go. Take it all in, and learn what most of us have already gone through, and may have done differently, so when you plan yours, it will be perfect. Take care!

Awesome shop, house, property, Ford. I like everything about it. Cool tractor, I understand the need for it having grown up near Binghamton, NY. You are definately in snow country and need a plow. I spent 5 years in Rochester also, that part of NY near the finger lakes is one beautiful area. Thanks for posting all the pics and projects. I would feel like I was on vacation every time I looked out my front window of your place.

Thanks jamesemery728... We do get a good amount of that white stuff. I am dreading the fall season. With so many trees on the property, the leaves are unbelievable. I have a 10 foot long x 6 foot wide x 3 foot deep wagon that I use after I've mulched them up as much as I can, and I still take 22 heaping loads out into the woods. I would like one of those cyclone rakes, that would make it alot easier. maybe someday. I agree with you on the finger lakes area... they are beautiful.

Well I got the old porcelin light installed, it works like new. It will be nice to have light out in front of the place. I thought about bending the pipe, so the light would be level, but then I realized it was meant to be at that angle to project the light out. In the daytime, it looks like a ladies hat.

HOTFR8... " the breeze is cool" - I like that LOL!

e-tek... "purdy" - it sho-enuff is , you crack me up

DaleJR88Fan... Thanks, it has a regular bulb in it ( went with just a 60 watt, didn't want it too bright) It has a glass outter housing that screws over the regular bulb. I don't know if it's considered an explosion proof light or not?

Breeze,

Nice job on the light. You made it work in more ways than the obvious.

I'm thinking a big round old sign under that mount would really pop the front of your palace. What do you think? Do you know a sign painter? haha

Yeah John, There will be a sign there someday. Still looking for a good sign painter - LOL! One that I can afford. The actual light hangs kind of low, so a big round one would be somewhat covered by the light itself, but it sticks out aways so you still would see it, I don't know, I will have to play around with it. Still trying to think of a sign ( what it would say) that would fit with the garage.

I have always liked the carriage door look, Did anyone notice the fake vinyl windows and hinges on the door? The doors were pretty plain, and the fake hinge kits were over $100 so I started with making just the fake hinges. But it still needing something, so I added the fake black out windows. My wife was away when I did it. I picked her up, and was pulling up the driveway, she started to chew me out because we didn't have the money for new carriage garage doors!

Breeze,

You could also use another shape other than round. Diamond, octagon, even a custom one as in a custom Breeze sign. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Now if we could only find that painter...

Thanks it's pretty much all original. 289 2v, true dual exhaust. It is an auto with the console floor shift, bucket seat, black interior. Power steering like they made it in the old days....Turn the wheel with your pinky and virtually no road feel :) I put some wheel spacers on it and the stock 17 inch Bullet wheels from my 2002 Mustang GT. It suprisingly handles pretty well....Considering it has lived it's whole life in CT, it is pretty solid. I just need to get a garage going for it... :)
