Breeze,

If you're sick of that snow, hop in that Ford and pay me a visit in FL. I promise I won't make you mow the lawn  but I might put you to work in the Asylum.

Actually, we've had a pretty weird winter this year too so I couldn't guarantee warm weather down here either :(.

Hang in there - spring is just around the corner.

Okay Shopnut, LOL! I have a bunch of friends in Florida who have been complaining about it being cold there.
They said ( in our area) January had 3 days above freezing temperatures, December was about the same. It is starting to break a bit this week, should be around 38 today, close to 50 on Thursday! Whoo Hooo!

The next time we're in Florida, I'll have to look you up! Do you really mow grass there? :lol_hitti 3 times a year? :lol_hitti

Well I was lucky enough to find another one of these face plates on e-bay. this is the correct one for this pump, the otherside ( not shown) had a face plate from a different model and didn't fit right with a big gap at the top.
View media item 5234View media item 5329View media item 5223 I also picked up another Contains lead sign for the side of it. There are tons of them with the "tetraethyl" wording. I needed the one that said "antiknock compound" Must be they are more rare? So With the exception of new rubber door mouldings I think I have everything to start the restoration of the old Wayne gas pump. Toying with the idea of a globe on top, still not sure yet. It still has all the guts inside, it is very heavy. Just need the weather to warm up a little bit more.

Cool beans, Bro. I've got my gas pump mostly apart but work on it has stopped until I finish reclaiming the garage. BTW, I took out that heavy pump and it makes things A LOT easier.

I haven't decided if I'm tossing the pump guts out or not, Probably could get enough money for paint for the scrap price of it. I think it looks cool with it in there though when you open the doors.

Breeze - I'm a ford guy myself and love your car, great looking property as well.

Would you have any interest in selling some of your "vintage looking" singage you've used on your toolboxes and such? I'm assuming they are some type of adhesive vinyl used for your sign business?

Milner 351... Thanks, the Fairlane is a fun ride, and it has a nice home to stay in. I would be happy to hear what you might be interested in as far as decals are concerned. I'll send you a PM.

I'm liking that pump, cool.Nice ride n stable for it too.

It's really a plain simple pump, not as fancy as some. It's a Wayne Model 80 from the 40's. I've wanted one for many years, I paid $300 for it, but it's all there, and only has minor surface rust. another $50 for the new pump face and "contains lead" sign. A re-pop globe for the top is another hundred bucks ( if I put one on ) Door rubber, paint, and time are all I need. I kinda like it inside the garage myself, at least it's protected from the elements it's been out in for the last 60 years. I would love an old eco air meter someday, those are crazy priced!

Breeze,

I just want you to know, even Floridians get to play in the snow once in a while. I went home to WI to visit my parents for a few days and got to see a nice 10" snowfall on the second day. All the past snowfalls had since melted away just before my arrival (and they've had quite a bit this year) so it was great to get some fresh accumulation during the visit. It was actually fun helping Dad with the snow removal chores the next day - just like old times.

Luckily, it didn't delay my flight back to FL, so now its time to get back to work on my projects :D.

There's only TWO ways to get a Furd to do that.

1. One bigazz smoke bomb

2. Drop in a Chivvy motor.

Wow, Mr Breeze ---- as long as this post from me is going to be, it could have been a lot longer 'cause I could comment on ALL your stuff.

Although I'm into all types of vehicles, Fords are my weakness ---- and your Fairlane is beauuutiful!

my bolt storage cabinets, and an old metal workstation desk.
View media item 5189Lots of storage in there!

I have been looking for an old "Card Catalog Cabinet" like libraries used to have for a while ---- and now, with the new house, I really want one ---- but I'm picky. It's gotta be just the right one ---- and, if I can find one with meaning (like from the library I used as a kid) that would be extra cool.

View media item 5229A couple of shots of the house

That's just beautiful. You are, indeed, blessed.

I've also wanted one of these for a long time. I'll have to have one soon.

Before and after photos of the Jack
View media item 5230

That's awesome. There's one of these jacks in my dad's garage that he used all his life. I guess my big brother uses it now.

I found this old garage bell at a flea market. View media item 5224

You are lucky. I never even thought of it ---- but it would be cool to have one of these bells ---- and maybe even have it where it would ring when you pulled into the garage.

My big brother built one of these in Boy Scouts. My mom still has it.

After a little windex... she came out really nice. The porcelin is in great shape with only a spot on the inside, and a spot on the out side of any rust

View media item 5428

That looks great. From Jamestown, huh? I miss Lucy!!!

I found this poor little old trash/rag can out on the garbage dock. It was saying to me "please don't send me to the county dump!"
View media item 5737

I wish that more people felt that way. The county dump is a LAST resort.

 Thank you for sharing!

Thank you Showboy, for all the kind words. The Fairlane is alot of fun, and draws a crowd everywhere it goes. I still want to do more remodeling in the shop this spring/summer. just waiting for the snow to melt, and to warmup a bit.

Did you see the rag can finished?
The progress of it is in this thread called "Battle of the Killer cans"
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79307

Check it out, if you like that, we are also starting a new contest called
"Battle of the Killer Clocks"
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92787
There is still time to join in. We have a ton of fun with it!

And just to remind JC about the beating he took, here's one more finished picture of Franky

Mrstang... That happens to me too. I sratch my head thinking how'd I miss this? Hahaha The Fairlane was over shadowed by the Mustangs popularity back in the 60's but they have a neat body style all their own. I have a friend who has a 69 Mustang. they are very cool as well. As far as the rag can goes, "Franky" is a one of a kind, but you could make her one just like it!

abstamaria... It is very much a pleasure to be home, thank you for those kind words. I am truly blessed.

aussie88... Thank you, and for what it's worth, you can have All of the snow I get. I'll give it to you for free. you just pay the shipping! HAhahahaha!

Just caught up on this thread. You restorations and other "creative" object are amazing !

The bell brought back memories of my first "real" job (lawn cutting and paper delivery don't count), pumping gas in the late 60s/early 70s. "Gas price war" days. The Mobil I worked at was just off of a busy freeway. We would sometimes change the price of gas 2 or 3 time in a day. I saw it as low as $0.149 ! Sigh

In my opinion, your Fairlane would look much better in my garage. I will arrange freight...please advise when you would like me to have it picked up to free up some space for you.

Thanks in advance! :D

Man you've been busy since I last checked in!! The place looks great. Love the Fairlane, and I really love the Stude!! Those halibrands are worth a small fortune now! How do you do those logo's? Are they vinyl?

Hey ol55, I am such a fool for selling my Stude. Everything on that car was vintage stuff. Halibrands, Hurst airheart brakes, super bell axle, 9 foot long solid magnesium ladder bars, Wiend Driven GMC blower off an old schoolbus.
Besides the fact that the parts were worth a fortune, I just miss the coolness of that old car. It actually was a blast to drive. As long as it was going straight, it was fine. Cornering at any speed was a challenge. ( I'm glad there wasn't anything coming in the other lane the first time I went into a curve) You had to let off the gas before a corner, turn the wheel, wait til you felt the body kinda roll into it, then hop back on the gas, and it would take the curve just fine. Once I figured it out, it was a blast to take out on the open road. In Town was even greater. Making sure there was enough gas stations along the trip was important. 10 gallon tank - 4 miles per gallon = 40 mile limitation. I had to trailer it to anyplace of great distance. Then drove the wheels off it once we got there! I'm sure Kiwi Kev knows what I'm talking about.

As far as the logos are concerned, most off them are vinyl, although I have painted several of them over the years.

Thanks for stopping back

I have another one that we are restoring.

We are sneaking up on it, which is a nice way of saying it is taking a while, LOL!!

Another wagon? They must have all rusted out around here. I honestly can't remember ever seeing one in person.

All you need is the wood grain side trim and an ol Collie dog in the back :lol_hitti

Seriously I really like your wagon.

For all you Fairlane Fans, This is Marty O's Very cool wagon I've been talking about:

That tickled me!

Now I can go to work with a smile on my face!

MartyO, she will be five this year and knows everything from colors to letters, math, solar system, Spanish and English. The Mustang monthly payment was equal to tuition but very much worth it. And don't worry, she knows the basic tools (hammer, mallet, screwdriver phillips/flathead etc... ) and knows difference between when she sees a mustang /camaro/ or old chevy Bel Aire. Love this girl... makes daddy smile..
she also loves the Auto auctions on tv..:wtf:
