Hi, I am Steve, and I would relly like to speak with you. I have alredy started the "bunker" just outside of my kitchen wall. Down about 20 an 20x20 square. so far just in the dirt am about ready to do the footers.
Different is that just inside the kitchen is an under the stair pantry to be where I have designed a 3x4 elevator platform ( I HOPE! ). The house is slab on grade and adobe and frame. Naturally the wall I am going under is abobe (r-3 and really heavy). I have the I beams and basement jacks to handle that, but am a bit stuck on the planned continuation under, I am thinking foam and shot crete and a lot of wire in an arch shape.
Luckily I have my electrical and plumbing, etc. in place since I started this remodel 8 years ago.

Any thinkings on your part would be appreciated on the crete or substitutes possible.

GREAT JOB on yours,
Steve

Sweet Vette! Is that a Camaro I note in front? I have a 2010 Camaro Lingenfeter performed their majic on it at and it now has 701 RWHP, it is set up to rip up the road course as well as the 1/4 mile.
Great car collection you have going there, American and Italian.....awsome!

Yes.. '10 Camaro. It's currently in Houston getting a "rework" as they say. Forged components, etc, etc.. along with a F1R procharger. Shooting for 800-850 at the wheels. :bounce:

How's the Lingenfeter setup treating you?? Does it just tear it up?

Man I love the LPE, the only problem is having to replace everything else in the driveline to stand up to the power. I went with the LPE 9.5 rearend 3.73 ratio, Driveshaft Shop half axels, and drive shaft. Then sheared off the output shaft on the m6 ******, just got in the new RPM level VI ****** and switching to a Ram clutch slave and heavy duty throwout bearing.
Who you got on yours Hennessey? Forging is the right way to it, prochargers are great for the strip and street, my Maggie comes on so fast it is hard to hook even with slicks.

How does someone own a car like that for 5 years and only put 1400 miles on it???

I'd have done that in the first day!

Well, weekend, maybe... Great score!

That's what I was thinking... some guys buy them for garage art. I've only had it for a few months, and we are pushing 2,500 miles.

This may have been asked before...When you back filled the underground garage walls. How did you fill the voids under the concrete drives etc ? Just dumping dirt wouldn't cut it as it has to settle over time. Did you pump in foam or just push dirt up under there ?

Not many garage updates right now guys. Although I am considering reworking the interior with a faux brick..

BUT... for your car nuts. My '10 Camaro build is progressing nicely.

First start today!

Sweet! But you can't leave us hanging....Post up the dyno!
That procharger should make for plenty of fun factor, would love to see how the package does on the dyno. My Maggie comes on so fast makes traction about scary.

Dyno is still a couple of weeks away. They have to finish plumbing the methanol and nitrous systems, etc, etc....

When I first saw Bunker garage post I thought I was going to see pictures of Archie Bunker LOL. Out of my league is all I can say. The only other garage i've seen that would top it is owned by Jay Leno, I wonder if he's been to the forum.

Congrats on being able to enjoy what happens when all of the hard work in life falls in place such as it has for you. I wish there were lots more in your position! A HUGE THANK YOU for keeping your head screwed on straight through it all and your willingness to share your time, knowledge, and household goodies with us. Seriously, I'm not trying to be cynical, facetious, or a smart@zz.

Never forget to tell your wife how much she rocks - I tell mine that weekly or so, especially since she "let me" buy a 2500 ft2 "shop" that came on almost two acres with a 1500 ft2 brick ranch. Yep, 21+ years ago she agreed to one day having a shop that was larger than the house. I made sure of that before I asked her to marry me..... I grew up in a house 4 times as large as mine and vowed I would spend my money in other enjoyable places instead. ;)

Again, congrats on your awesome build and toys, and THANKS for being a GM man first and foremost. They can be very good at :3gears: .

Hey Utah, any updates on your Camaro? Who do you have doing the work on it?
If you like Texas shops, ADM in Dallas is amazing, they have done more than a few 1000 RWHP Camaros and Vettes. Andy really can work majic with the LS engines, and his engines last even at these levels. He learned his craft from Lingenfelter.

Thing is taking forever!!

Of course I have the patience of a 3 year old.. so I'm sure that doesn't help.

England Green down in Houston is doing it.

Just putting the finishing bling in the engine bay. Took a few weeks to get all the methanol/Nitrous wiring done, etc, etc...

Here's a pic they just sent me.

I like it!!
Your Camaro sounds as mean as it looks. When they get the dyno done on her let us know. Plan on a lot of tires...LOL I am only at 702 RWHP, with the Nitto DR's I can bust them loose at 100 mph on the freway.:shocking:
I am guessing you will hit about 900 RWHP, can't wait to see.

When have you ever drawn the line? Maybe in the sand until the wind blows tomorrow and covers the line! LOL.

Can't wait to hear about the first speeding ticket once you get the new toy. Get pics like the first Lambo stop!

I found this forum and thread yesterday while looking to see if it is possible to put a basement under a garage. I'm impressed and inspired to say the least after reading all of the pages in this thread.

You are a very blessed and I am thankful you have chosen to share your knowledge, creativity and project history with us.

I am in the process of selling my first house. We have been living in it for eleven years. My wife fell in love with the kitchen and I fell in love with the three car garage (with a rear 8' pass-through garage door).

We have outgrown our house and are hoping to be able to buy some land and build our next dream home. Since we live in the hot desert out in Arizona, I figured it only fitting to build down, not up. Since basements around here are pretty rare anyway, I'm not sure our zoning will even allow this...but I sure am going to try and find out.

Thank you again for posting this thread and introducing me to the existence of this forum. If possible, can I PM you later with questions regarding the design of this type of garage? I'm going to try and explain it to my GC as thoroughly as I can and begin drafting my own plans.

Thank you.

Steve

There are always more than one way to skin a cat, think outside the box like Utah did and you will find a way.

Never give up there is always a way.
