Nice garage! What size? Give us some specs. How much was it to get separate electrical service run to your garage. Did the insulation company block off the airflow from the soffit. I would want that somewhat open to provide for airflow. Thanks for all of the pictures...

HOLY DUPLICATE PHOTOS! :lol_hitti

Could you please provide a few more details? Well, ok, lots of details? This appears to be a new build. I'm sure folks here on GJ will have lots of questions about the smaller details of the build. We're also going to want to know why you named it the Clockwork Garage. :headscrat

Looking forward to watching yet another great build on GJ.

where are you located? you could update your profile if you want to....

I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada....I have been soo busy working on the shop I have not had much time to post ! I plan to do a whole walkthru soon...But I am rushing right now to get the heat in the floor before the frost sets in.... Today we are sheeting the cieling, on Tuesday we will finish the foam insulation and seal everything in...the Attic rafters required a little different strategy for insulating......We sprayed the underside of the floor, then we will sheet the ceiling and spray downwards onto he ceiling sheeting at the sides to seal everything in.....Anyways I will be back later, I have to go check on the workers LOL !

Jealous of the tight insulating! I could definitely go for spray-foam above my attached garage to keep some of the heat out. Did you do it yourself somehow, or did you bring in a contractor?

Keep up the good work!

We hired a contractor... I did get a good shake on the price....But still was over $4000.00 to do the garage...But I live in central Canada and during the winter its gets crazy cold here..-40 F is not uncommon combined with wicked North winds charged off the Hudson bay...So in the end it was a small price to pay for having top notch insulation.. I intend to use this shop for daily business, so i really wanted it to be winter proof ! thank you for the kind words..... Now I will be sheeting walls, painting, tiling the floor and building the cabinets/benches.....then bring my mill/lathe/dyno into the shop

Great build, awesome insulation. I'm assuming you are not heating the attic, what about ventilation up there? Not sure if it's there but I can't see it or if it is not ventilated.
I'm in NW Ontario so I can definitely appreciate the extra time and money spent for the spray insulation. We get as cold here but not nearly the wind you get in Manitoba.

Wow 4K for that spray foam? What is the R factor with it? Seems very pricey as they had an easy time doing it when the structure is open like that.

it is ventilated...but i had stuffed the vents with yellow fiberglass batting to keep the upper area warm for applying the foam...We didn't want a cold draft passing over the foam as it is being applied...apparently cold can mess with the product during curing and prevent it from expanding properly.... So I stffed the vents as tightly as I could..

I have 4" foam in the ceiling, 2.5" in the walls....the shop is 22x28 with a 9 foot wall on top of the curbing ..... I paid just under $1.10 per foot at 1" ...very good price i thought....

I am not sure of the R value...I believe it is R9 per inch on standard rating...but the in building performance is superior to what its R rating would suggest as compared to conventional insulation batting/vapor barrier......Especially so in cold windy regions like where I live...the northern winds we get hit with are very intense during the winter months....

In the summer time we plan to develop and insulate the upper area ( providing no code violations )...But for this year it is too cold to spray the upper area already......Plus I wouldn't mind finishing a few more things before I commit to such a large expense...

I like spray foam, but man is it expensive. That's about 4X the cost of pink fiberglass to get to the same advertised R-factor. Obviously your actual R-factor is higher due to less air infiltration. When the time comes, if I have the excess cash, I think I'll go with an inch of spray foam everywhere and then 3.5" or fiberglass or roxul on top of that.

I like your big oval window in the loft, it's a cool touch.

Gotcha.....I figured it must be. Nice shop, I wish I had storage like that in my attic..........I wish I had been the one to build the shop I have, not the previous owner. But that's a topic for another thread when I start fixing all the wrong that was done. :wtf:

Are you finishing the attic? When I finish my garage I will have similar attic space and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. Are you just going to use it for storage?

Looks like a nice build!
