You get me hooked then you start making me beg. Please, I'm begging, cut me break, please. Anything, a picture of rebar, a trowel, a simple form, something, anything. I got it bad I tell you, real bad.

He's done this before. ...and the general consensus was that he was installing the "secret" portions of the "evil lair". ...of course when he reappeared he totally denied it but we all know. In fact someone posted a picture out of a James Bond movie that looks too close.

I still say that the "retaining wall" needs to have gunports for the cannons that are in the "secret" tunnel behind it.

Wow. I stumbled across this build several days ago. Seeing it started in 2012 I was hoping to see a completed home and GARAGE at the end. In a way I am glad it's still in progress so I can look forward to how you finish everything. Your attention to detail is inspiring.

Hope you pop back in with an update.

I have seen the house in person Sunday. Doug said that I can update the thread if I get to it before him.

We can't blame him for not updating because
1- the summer HAS to be enjoyed in Maine by the river, it is absolutely gorgeous.
2- the progress is difficult to show as it's all small stuff.

I won't have access to my pictures before Friday but I'll try to give an outsider view to describe the house.

Cliffs: the house is phenomenal in the flesh (well, concrete)... And Doug & his wife are incredibly friendly, I am glad I got to meet them in person.

I tried to upload my trip pictures on my laptop before my business trip but it was taking too long so I won't be able before I get back Friday.

Should have an update after that.

Last time it was the zombie turret foundation, now it must be the Phalanx Close In Weapon System.

I want to thank the hosts for letting us in their house, it was really appreciated and I must say they are extremely kind and welcoming.

Really like this one. Hopefully the concrete business has been strong this summer, so this place can be enjoyed from the inside, with a "move in" on the near horizon.

That river sure looks good, too.

BeachBoy,
Heard rumors that the sparkies up there start working before they're able to walk . . . guessing it's true.

Thanks for the pictures! They're beautiful, betcha it's even more amazing in person.

Since I'm sure someone is going to point it out.... The short electrician handling the Romex is not wearing safety glasses or insulated gloves or a hardhat.... Just sayin'

Great pics of the home and family! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!

It's nice to see smart people design and create something special. I have no doubt that you were put on this earth to do exactly what you're doing.
What a great place. Thanks for sharing this.

Yupp...My little guy has already found the two most important man objects in our living room: My panasonic toughbook and the remote controls for the tv/cable... He will be totally balling his eyes out about something, but you give him a remote or computer, he's happy as a clam.. :D

Doug: Here's another idea for handrail and overhang steps.

although the connection to the ceiling is not pretty, the fact that the rail floats like this proves withou a doub that the starirs are not supported in any way.

I would replace the vertical pipes by something much slimmer and replace the handrail by a glass panel, floating over the stairs.

Those are a long way from meeting any kind of US construction code.
