Milwaukee is not American, DeWalt is. DeWalt is owned by Stanley Back and Decker an American Corporation. Milwaukee is owned by Techronic Industries, a China (actually Hong Kong) based company.

By that logic, if Lamborghini was bought by ford - they would suddenly become an "American" car company. They are their own companies that are bought and sold like playing cards.. It wasn't like Milwaukee was acquired, and then suddenly all the employees became Chinese. It's a successful company that was acquired because of its sales figures and reputation, and to help eliminate competition in the market. Why beat them when you can join them.. It is still, and will always be, it's own identity. If the parent company decided to relocate to Germany on Monday, would you suddenly call Milwaukee German? Milwaukee's headquarters are in the states.

It's just where the money ultimately ends up irregardless of company HQ keeping in mind that most of these companies are publicly traded.

A co's headquarters can simply be an office with a few cubicles, a plant, and a copy machine. :) And Milwaukee makes most (if not all) of their products in China and the parent co. is Chinese. That matters to me; I guess I'm just a sucker for caring about where things are made. DeWalt actually produces products in the USA.

I've never had a DeWalt tool fail, and I like their tools. So it was an easy decision for me to buy DeWalt. Not that Milwaukee's are bad; I used to be in their system. They are nice. But I own DeWalt and a couple of Makita tools.

I love this idea. I was gonna build a shelf for chargers, now you got me thinking of a portable setup like this. Just outta curiosity, what is it you do with all this dewalt goodness 77Ford?

The website is showing that the Masterforce finish nailers are out of production.

Looking for an air finish nailer or a cordless electric? There's a Bostitch combo pack that comes with an air compressor and 3 different nailers (with 3 different gauges.) I think you can get it for $200 or so, and they get decent reviews. Or you can buy an air power nailer by itself (DeWalt branded even) for about $100 depending on the gauge.

The menards in mass. is showing they still have 3 of the one i was lookin at. Maybe better not buy that one if they arent producing them any longer. Saw the bostich one you are talking about. Guess I better check Hd for a dewalt air powered one.

I checked with my buddy 77ford said he just got a 20volt dewalt cordless and loves it. Just a little too pricey for the project coming up.

Yeah they're like $300. If you're gonna use it a lot, then sure that's nothing -- but for one or two projects, it's a little pricey.

I helped a friend build/roof a shed, and he went out and bought a Grip-Rite (same co. that makes nails) finish nailer (air powered). He said it was cheap, but they seem to be about $160. I think the DeWalt is about that price.

Could probably rent one for $20-$30 if you have a decent tool rental place around there.

I think that is random....I have never had a problem.

The kit I mentioned only has the 2.0 batteries. You can get the bare tool for $149 if you are going that root.

I switched over from 14.4 and 18volt last year and got 4 20volts I like and use often. I wanted to keep them together but if you know my space... I live the life of tetris and everything is tight... so i got a wooden box from Walmart and modified it... then painted it... it is now my Dewalt Box. I found the decals on ebay... they were custom cut... The funn'est part was asking my paint guy to mix me up a pint of Dewalt Yellow to paint the trim of the box. As you can see ... they fit snugly into the box and are kept close to my workspace but are portible enough to carry to the required job. :rocker:

Thanks. It was one of those... Hey, I wonder if this will fit?... Which turned into a dewalt Tetris event when they all fit. Which turned into a reason for the paintjob.

Wow that's a beautiful box. Great paint job. How'd you letter it? Made a stencil?

If I ever build a hot rod, I may take a DeWalt tool down to PPG or SW and have them mix up a match for it. :)

I wish I had all those drills. You don't have to change bits every often while doing a job.

My bad... you are right... it was $4 per set of 3... i ordered 2 sets but he shipped 3 sets. I did not remember the shipping was an additional $9 something. My receipt says $17 not 10 dollars... sorry about the confusion. So i got 9 decals for $17 which still is not that bad. It took 16 days to arrive at my house for what it's worth.

Here is his current listing : Dewalt Decals

Just FYI-

Like a lot of you, DeWalt has quite a bit of my money. Several months ago I ran across a box of oilfield stickers left over from my offshore days and decided to "dress up" the garage fridge and some tool chests.

Didn't seem right that I didn't have any DeWalt stickers on anything so I called up customer service and told them I am loyal customer, love their tools, talk my friends into buying them, blah blah blah. Three days later I received a nice collection of DeWalt stickers in all different shapes and sizes.

So give them a shout, say some nice things and I'm sure they'll be happy to hook you up.

Hey guys! I am interested in buying the DCF887 3-speed impact driver. Are there any issues/cons that I should know about it? Is there a newer version coming out soon or a better version than the DCF887? This will be my first cordless battery-powered tool from DeWalt and I don't know much about their cordless platform. Thanks in advance for your input!

I've got the newer 20 volt brushless 3 speed impact and I'm really happy with it. I don't often use the 3rd speed, the 2nd speed has more than enough speed abd power for 3.5" construction screws.
