Just picked up this little sander and i am very impressed so far. It actually manages to make sanding a pleasure, with no vibration. Dust extraction to the bag surprised me at how effective it was. It has great power and battery life from the 5ah. Also when turned off it comes to an instant dead stop which is neat.

Smoked one of my cheap ebay 20v to 18v adapters over the weekend. I was ripping a 14' 2x4 and the saw started slowing down. Tried a new battery nope, tried a new saw with the same adapter nope. A new adapter worked in both saws. Yay didn't wreck the saw. I will pull apart one of the ebay ones and my dewalt one to compare wire sizes.

Picked up a used 20v Bluetooth speaker (old style). Works pretty good for the money. Range has been sufficient so far, and the sound is good. Didn't get the AC adapter, but the battery life is claimed to be quite good. Also will charge via USB, and has an aux input.

Agreed, I quite like mine.

As soon as someone sees this in stores let me know, seems like a might nicer solution to the tripod lights.

DCL077 I believe, can barely find it on Google right now

Saw the new sheet sander in person but didn't get it

Did get the new G2 blower, it is very nice, definitely an upgrade c092dbc2a800cf30dee6081a7d1db73a.jpg6f08fbbeeb26034a59271410acb99279.jpg91549d234ee4b5192856250e33202b43.jpg

I think the tripod still does well for shop or outdoor work where you want light shining down, but this is consistent with the Craftsman V20 version they have that peaked our interest. There sure are a lot of 20v lights: the DLC044 is currently peaking my interest.

I have 3 and like them a lot. Nicer than the side opening cases imo b/c you aren't stacking blades.

Huh, wonder what gauge wire it was that you blew through. Kinda funny, but not surprising, of the cheap guys.

Finally got a DCD996 by buying this weird kit they had at the pawnshop. I was sold once they came out with the mega bag, seems I need 2-3 or my toughsystem to cart around a job's worth of tools.

Actually a bit surprised, it seems the exact same as my faithful DCD991, so ig it wasn't a value added purchase, since I have a cordless SDS+ for any serious hammer drilling. Oh well

The other drill is a DCD780. DeWalt's first domestically made model AFAIR; if anyone needs one let me know. I've had one at work since 15/16 when they first came out and it's been a trooper.

My DeWalt 1/2" drive shallow socket set SAE and Metric. I got them used but they don't appear to have ever been used. The way the sockets are packaged they swivel in their mountings; the current production does not appear to do that. Any ideas about age of this set? 5 or 10 years at the most?

A kit we use at work was new 4 years ago and has identical markings and ratchets.

Got the 60v framing saw kit last week, with a 9.0 battery, charger and a free bare tool for $322. Choice was only 20v impact driver or recip so I got a second recip saw.

Saturday I was at a local farm store and ran across this combo set, brushless rotary hammer & impact driver, two 5.0 batteries, charger and bag. Last one on the shelf, regular $349 but on sale for $204.

I'd been considering getting the RH, bare tool price is $199. Already have 20+ batteries, didn't really need more, or a fourth impact driver, but hard to say no when they're almost free. I quickly sold the two batteries for $120. Made the RH, impact driver, charger and bag pretty cheap.

I have that set. Have had to replace a few over the years as they have worn out. Have been pretty impressed with dewalt’s saw blades thus far. Still on the fence with their drill bits. Haven’t found anyone that makes a good set of drill bits yet. Always open to suggestions.

Got a corded Bosch SDS+ and a huge Dewalt SDS Max for the big holes. They work way faster than a hammer drill for sure. I use the big dewalt as a demo hammer more often than for drilling holes. It'll be nice not having to drag out a cord for every little job, can't go wrong at this price.

I'm glad to see despite all the tools (nominally all the 1/2 brushless impacts, 1/4" brushless premium impacts, all 1/2 drills brushless (both hammer and not) except the budget 777 and also the brushed compact 780, brushless sawzall, etc) DeWalt is now also assembling the batteries here (still with the excellent Samsung korean cells).

Here's a 2ah I recently picked up.

Anyone had any issues with the DCV581? Had mine for a year and now it keeps randomly stalling a second or so every time I use it. It's not a loose battery connection, tried multiple batteries. 14ba01f54ddbb643b183b6cad4c25e0f.jpg

How do you like it otherwise? I was going to grab one but heard they do not **** very well. I use my c3 vac to **** up piles of sawdust no problem, but am trying to switch over to Dewalt.

That Dewalt vacuum is good for dust and light stuff. It won’t pick up screws, wire nuts or the like very often. If it does manage to get picked up it stays in the hose. I use it because it’s the battery platform I chose. I do carry a small shop vac with a cord. This is one thing I wish Dewalt would improve.

So I'm building a new Dewalt set, moving from C3 since Murdochs is having their big sale.

I have so far:

XR Hammer Drill Impact kit + 2 5 AH Batts
XR 1/2 Mid Impact
Inflator
Tstak Radio Charger
20V Miter compound 7 1/4

Going to grab:

Newest Brushless 3 speed multi tool
Newest Brushless 7 1/4 circular saw

Might also pick up either the router or angle grinder.

What must haves am I missing that should be at the top of the list?

I know I will eventually get a regular brushless drill, sander, 3/8 impact, brad nailer and jig saw but I need to sell a few more things first.

Not that I've seen but it's also constricted by the cord, it may be the water/suction stop ball getting closer? But it really sounds like it's the motor dying

I'll zip tie the ball down and see if it makes a difference

Mine does this as well. It just shuts down for a fraction of a second, not even long enough for the motor to stop spinning. I don't really use it with the cord so I can't comment on that.

Never. how about on 120v?

Ditto on that, never experienced it. Maybe his filter is clogged? These bagless vacuums requires one to clean the filter very often.

I find that spraying the filter using a hand sprayer with jet stream cleans the dust particles out of the gaps quite effectively, I'm aware that HEPA filters are very delicate but so far my method hasn't caused any obvious problems (correct me if I'm wrong, but a hand sprayer only reaches something like 20 psi?)

I heard people say that even pressurized air can damage HEPA, but since I use this in the shop and outdoors mostly I care less about its ability to trap dust 99.97%

For those who have it probably have already noticed that this vacuum runs poorly on 120AC, its power is much less compared to using a 5AH battery pack, dunno why they made it like this.

I've cleaned and replaced it but it still does it, it's also very intermittent, was going to take a video and now it won't do it??

Funny thing about the filters, the place I work they are 56$ retail, but the vaccum is usually on sale for 80$

It's not our markup either, cost is about 44$

That Tstak radio was a great deal there. Not sure how a legit retailer is getting away with those DeWalt prices

Yeah that's usually who we price match

I really really wish I would have price matched the inverter when it was on sale for 200-220$ and shippable

They won't price match if it's in store only sales

Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

So... now that you're looking forward to seeing it malfunction to shoot a video, it refuses to do so:bounce:

At what point do you decide that the filter needs replacing? Mine is a bit dirty but I haven't made up my mind on getting a new one, though the price for it in Canada isn't too bad.

Here are a couple of online stores that sell it, maybe you can use them as price match reference:

Has anyone used the 20V palm router (DCW600B)?

I have a mid-size Bosch router that I'm happy with and I'm looking to add a palm router for lighter work. The Bosch Colt is an option, but I thought the 20V Dewalt might be nice for portability. Already have plenty of 20V batteries.

Is it really top-heavy with a 5Ah battery? Too short a runtime on 2Ah?

I've been eyeing that router too. I'm interested in feedback.

My parents got me the 5-piece (Ni-cad) suitcase in 2003 when I was still in college. It seemed like a weird gift for a guy living in a university apartment, but I think my dad found a good deal on it and couldn't resist. :)

Now I've got the 20V Li-on stuff. Drill & impact and a bunch of yard tools. I almost like the cordless hedge trimmer more than my impact. Almost.

Someone got me the 20V to 18V adapter for Christmas. I'd read about brain drain with it, and experienced it myself. Is that common or expected? Can't just leave the adapter on a battery in the drawer and use later?

The best cordless router on the market IMO.

It's slower (RPM) than the Milwaukee, but has WAY more torque. Leagues ahead of the Makita, but theres was on the market first

It has a larger grip than Milwaukee or Makita, but also has better options for different bases. Most of smaller corded DeWalt router bases will fit the cordless model, including the plunge, double handle, and single "pistol grip"

I use all 3 probably 2-3 times a week, and the DeWalt is my favorite, but I'm also dedicated DeWalt at home.

The 5aH isn't much, if you're upright you'll never really notice it, plus it stands upside down really nice.

Biggest complaint I hear is it's size, if you have smaller hands you might have trouble running it with one hand, but I believe it's pretty close to the Bosch Colt.

Well I emptied my wallet at Murdochs again today.
Tomorrow is the last day for 40% off and I have no plans to go back (yet).

xr 3/8 impact
xr 7 1/4 circular saw
xr brushless compact drill
xr brushless recip saw
xr brushless multi tool.

It's starting to look like a set now though. The C3 stuff is also doing well so it shouldn't take too long to be even up.
