Boots fit surprisingly well! Just need something to work on now

If I order another battery boot I'm going through a local MAC truck, the 2nd order took 8 days to show up which isn't terrible but communication sure was. 8152e491fc34301222c1e5d6bf41f9a9.jpg

have you used this yet?

I been eyeing it for awhile now.

So I just finished taking some stains out of the clear coat on the roof of my FJ Cruiser with my new DCM848... This thing is a winner. There’s a slight weight penalty with a 5.0Ah battery vs my old Porter Cable 7424, but it’s not noticeable on a DA because you have to apply some downward pressure on the unit to get some cut anyway.

Additionally, the weight is very balanced so I never felt like I had to “support” anything while working, if that makes any sense.

Not having to worry about cord management while running the DA freed me up to concentrate better on the paint surface. After about 10-15 minutes of run time the battery still showed a full 3 bars, so I’ll probably pick up a pair of 3.0Ah batteries on sale right now to make the working weight even lighter. I can’t say enough how happy I am with this purchase. [emoji106][emoji106]

Just bought the pole saw today. Opened the box and there were three pieces. The switch/battery base section, the business end section, and and optional intermediate extensions pole. I was looking around for other pieces (fasteners, brackets, whatever) but that was it. Just three pieces.

I took them out and screwed them together with the simple little threaded coupler that each section has. I snapped a battery in, mashed the safety and pulled the trigger. And it worked. It took 30 seconds.

I went out back and picked a 3" "trial limb" on the tree that's hanging over both my neighbors' fences. It cut through like butter.

I obviously don't have long term experiences to share but it sure was straightforward and simple.

Looking at the box, i had thought it telescoped. Interesting. Glad it has the oiler, unlike the Craftsman my uncle bought (out of DeWalt at the time).

Have ran the pole saw thru several batteries cleaning up field ditch banks and tree lines. Also let two friends borrow. Nothing but good things to say here.

I freakingly love DeWalt and all the fools who love DeWalt and Craigslist/Facebook Mktplace/Letgo etc.

Last time I bought two fan kits with charger and 1.5 AH batteries for $59 each from Homedepot. I sold both in a day for $100 each. This time I got another bare tool (fan) from Lowes with a 3AH battery for $59. I don't know how much I can flip them. But $120 minimum. Last week, I bought a cordless, brushless XR orbital sander kit for $88. I sold the battery, charger and bag for $90. The sander cost me -$2. I just love DeWalt power tools. It is the perfect balance of price and quality, with a humongous rabid fans, fools or not.

Bought a set of brushless drill, impact driver, charger, 2 batteries and a compact work light for $150 after tax. Sold the drill & impact driver & charger $ battery for $160, sold the bag for $15. So I got to keep the light and 25 bucks. Really cannot complain. It actually was not a smoking hot deal to begin with. So I am surprised myself with the result.

Has anyone tried out this inflator/deflator? I like the looks of this thing for taking to the kart track for the small volume tires on the go karts.

Yes, I use the snot out of mine for way more than small tires. I use it to run our 335/30R18 race tires up and down, take the truck tires back to 80psi before towing (run 55 on street) and on occasion have topped off the 110psi trailer tires. That last one takes a long time :) but the rest are fine.

sounds perfect for my use. Since I already bring Dewalt 20v drill and impact driver to the track with me, this seems like a no brainer.

I bought one last winter. I use it a ton and its fairly accurate with the automatic shut off. I can't live without it now. The high volume nozzle is great for blowing up large floats etc as well. Before I bought it, I purchased a small 2 gallon air compressor just for tires because I got sick of waiting for my 30 gal compressor to fill. I think I've used the 2 gal air compressor once since I bought this and that was for seating the beads on the new tires I bought for my garden tractor.

Has anyone seen the new 20V tools with "Flexvolt Advantage"? It sounds like they run with 20V batteries but will perform at higher output when used with Flexvolt batteries. The increase in performance is significant so I wonder if they are simply drawing more current because the Flexvolt batteries can deliver the extra current at 20 volts or are the tools actually switching to 60 volts? I suppose the former would be just like the Power Detect tools so maybe it is the latter?

I haven't... Sounds interesting but feels like marketing BS

A flex volt 2ah is just a 6ah 20v battery when used in a 20v tool. It is just math, no magic involved

I think the math does support an increased output capability either way. A lower capacity battery (fewer cells in parallel) will suffer more voltage sag under load and will not be able to deliver the same current as a larger capacity battery (more cells in parallel) at the same voltage. Since even the smallest capacity Flexvolt battery has a relatively high capacity in the 20V configuration (6ah compared to 2, 3, or even 5ah for example), it should support a higher current draw, allowing for more power. All the tool would need to do is know it was connected to a Flexvolt battery and it would know it could safely draw more power without damaging the battery.

What I don't know is if this is indeed what is happening or if the tools are actually switching to run on 60 volts when they sense a Flexvolt pack. The circular saw, recip saw, etc. all have existing Flexvolt models so it's not unprecedented that they could run on 60 volts, but this would be the first hammer drill to my knowledge to run on 60 volts. It's rated at 1200 UWO which seems like a substantial increase over even the Power Detect model at around 1000 UWO.

A commentor I saw somewhere said these were going to be sold at HD whereas the the Power Detect models will be carried by Lowes, similar to the split between the Atomic series (HD) and the 12V Extreme line (Lowes).

I'm really tempted on the one handed recip saw during the free 5.0 ah promo

Picket up a dozen of the Flexvolt Advantage saws yesterday. HD had a deal in Canada for a flexvolt starter pack for $299. They threw in a free saw or grinder. Saws are definitely not as good as the Flexvolt. Didn’t matter to me, flipped them all on F book and made $1500.

Is it just the power that's lacking compared to the Flexvolt saws or are there other features you dislike? How does it compare to the 20 volt saw?

Never actually made a cut with it. Just felt like it wasn’t as good right out of the box. I own a custom home framing business. My guys would have destroyed it in a couple months. They wear out the Dewalt 20v nailers in a couple months. The Flexvolt saws have all lasted at least a year before needing warranty work.

I got this Dewalt drill driver. (I really didn't need it, but what the heck this is garage journal) it's one of my first battery tools and Dewalt's first I'm thinking of getting an impact for Christmas.

I'll play, here is a older photo ... I call it a gidiup. git ya up off the ground. This one was the second one I built ... I wore out the first one. This one was a mistake, I used 3/4" oak plywood instead of 5/8" acx, 1 side smooth. The issue was the weight. I survived ... so we have 7' legs and a 2' cradle total of 16'.
I use door hinges for the legs and the connection to the cradle. The hinges on the legs is critical, I can adjust the height when sitting on un-level ground. It fits on a shelf in my work van when I pull the pins and break it down.
I am on my 3rd gidiup, and my 2nd 12" dewalt saw ... car accident destroyed my first saw.
After using the 12" dewalt saw my entire career as a carpenter ... I do not want the fancy slide saw or double tilt saw ... I can do everything I need with this saw and table setup. Ya all do what you want, this saw has been setup in many million dollar homes cutting trim.
As a disclaimer, I would pull out a old 8" Milwaukee chop saw for stairs ... The 8" blade has less flex then the dewalt 12"
Let me be clear here, 1rst photo was taking maybe 15 years ago, 2nd photo is 5 min ago as cleaning out my garage.

So Home Depot has their Holiday pricing on now and there are a couple little combos that are nice (Atomic Drill/Driver and Impact Driver combo for $149, Milwaukee M12 Fuel Drill/Driver and Impact Driver for $199, etc.) but I'm also seeing the Dewalt High Torque 1/2" Impact wrench with 4ah battery and charger for $199. That's cheaper than the mid-torque bare tool ($239).

I've been in the market for an electric impact. Am I missing something or is this worth it? Any experience with this tool?
