Spend a few bucks and get a new soft grip handle and you're good to go.
You can hate the prices, but you can't hate on those Dual 80's. They deliver.

One thing to watch with the early 1/2" dual 80's, the cover screws are known to loosen up.
Thank you VERY much for that. Is there a way to date these?
Part No:
F80-2 1 Coverplate 6.50 USD
FH936-12 1 Handle, Soft Grip 10.80 USD
To replace handle bring pot of water up to boil on stove. Dip handle into water for some time to soften.
Then remove handle by grabbing hot handle with towel.
If handle is difficult, repeat.
If still difficult, repeat heating and then place ratchet in vice and gently pry off handle with two small pry bars.
For new handle, I drop in same hot water for a couple of minutes, then pull and install on ratchet.
If it's fussy, use a small soft head hammer rubber tipped to coax handle on while it's warm/hot.
It's a no muss no fuss process. Except the missus may get mad about putting dirty tools in the pots and pans.
LOLZ.
BTDT.
Yes.
There is a single digit year date stamp number in a funky font stamped into the recessed ring near the part number in the chome of the handle above the soft grip.
It will be some where from from 0 to 9. The font determines which decade.
Here's the date chart:

2006 was first Dual 80 issue unless they made them in late 2005 for 2006 sales ramp up.
2006 and early to mid 2007 had USA stamp on head.
By 2008 it was gone.
Use it as is, wear out the soft grip....then change it

Thanks a lot, again lol.
As far as date, all's I see the model number, patent number and something that looks like a hexagon with two semi circles inside. 0 maybe? 2000-2009?
