I cant wait to make bigger things. so sick of 2 piece parts .

Mine and my brother's are both showing up Tuesday per FedEx. The kids today would say they "thicc" I think as the main box weighs 91 lbs, a 2nd box shows up Thursday or Friday with some of the ordered spares, then AMS I think shows up Saturday along with some filament? Shame the machine won't be here before the long weekend....oh well.

We print almost exclusively ASA these days, we have the settings down and don’t have to mess with anything, so I want to have an enclosure. I may grab a H2 for myself and give him one of my X1Cs.

Congrats on the sale, on my next run up 29, I’ll shoot you a message and we can still swap stories. Lol

we're just getting going but i got our first batch of filament in. ill need to work out a GJ discount code on it.
schoolhousespools.com

photos and benchies are going up as we get them in over the next few days here.

Spools work on the standard Bambu AMS and AMS Lite (open frame for A1)?

Interesting that you are getting into the filament selling racket, is this a way to reduce cost on supplies for the farm?

yup. more volume with filament the better for my pricing. I just got a quote for under 4 a kg for a container of black, 12,500kg, 5kg spools delivered to MN.

Wow!!! I didn't realize you were growing that fast!
How long should that last now?
this is for resale with schoolhousespools.

the new shop is getting concrete early next week. Once that is up the main print room can go to technically 320 printers in it. with another 500ish above in the loft if needed.

at 320 printers we figure 20 will be down on any given day. so the math is really easy: 300 printers = 300kg a day burn.

300*24 operating days a month roughly. 7200kg a month. a full container is 12,500kg. So we'd be doing basically a container every other month.

Print waste recycling, or just DIY filament from pellets?
It would be awesome if there were PLA recycling programs in the US.

UV resistance, better rigidity for what we need and general laziness…. We got the ASA dialed in for what we need (primarily construction installation parts and pieces for IT/telecom work and they occasionally get installed in outdoor environments) and just don’t see a need to reinvent the wheel. We can also generally get all the ASA we need without hunting for it, but we don’t burn through it like you do. As a matter of fact, no one does. lol

lol. yea ASA i got dialed in finally. After 12 versions I finally have an @XJSuperman probably would approve JD brown. custom 150kg headed my way to make interior cab components.

I'mt not the biggest out there by a long shot lol. I want to get to 800 machines for the laugh for than anything. and to have the why not injection mold question asked to me daily.

mathing:
anyways: pellet supply out of ohio delivered to MN is 85c a lb. so 1.90 a kg cost for PETG pellets.
filament spools, vac bags, box run 1.10 per kg.
3$ even for cost. sell for 10 a kg. 5 extra per KG over expenses playing it safe with labor, electric, misc.

2 filament lines delivered to MN is 85,000. if they make 20kg an hour(rated to 40) on avg each lets call production 40kg hour realistic. 480kg a day for 12 hour day. Figure 100,000 with power changes blah blah blah.

21,000 kg to break even on filament lines again playing it safe.

math shows 45 days to ROI the machines. both of them.

How's the labor pool to allow for hiring competent staff to run it an additional shift? At the 300 printer mark it's not a lot of extra filament produced per day to sell.

I also personally think you're under pricing material to the market at $10. Yes the margins are healthy and you need to charge shipping that some others may do for free but for quality, consistent material, especially PETG a higher price seems viable.

I want volume. 10 a kg is for 5kg spools. reducing labor need.

2 lines to start. i got room for 16 lines total in the current plot.

That makes more sense.

Looked at just skipping the rolls and going direct to pellet extruder head on the printer? I haven't seen them on Bambu's but there are a number of mods for Voron based units and some commercial models with pellet extruder heads allowing to skip the headache and conversion costs of extruding it

on the bigger machines we're eyeing up that is on the table. but for smaller machines the head speed is too low IMO.

Working through my backlog of tech debt, I arrived at the electrics on the GTO last weekend. I've added 6 relays over the course of the last few years. Three for the three separate electric fans (two ECU-controlled, one AC clutch controlled), two for the headlights (high and low beams), and one for the brake vacuum assist.

They'd just been hanging out in the space between the battery and the fender. They've gotten progressively worse behaved with time, so I figured it was ripe to fix them in a more permanent way (because there's nothing more permanent than temporary wiring that works).

So I whipped up the relay holders in CAD, then printed them up, and mounted up the sockets for the relays there.

Then I whipped up a plate in CAD from a spare amazon box (cardboard aided drafting), and plasma-cut it out of some 16 ga sheet, and built up the relay board with proper plugs.

I'm almost at the point where I get to test it, all I need to do is make the pigtail that goes from the fuse block to the 6 pin deutsche connector, then test all of it, take it all back apart, and paint the plate, then install it.

The panel fits in next to the battery, and the relays will be hidden from view.

My delivery guy carried it up the drive and actually gently sat it on the porch. I hope it was his only one of the day.

Doing self calibration

20250902_183026.jpg

Just during the calibration that sit stand desk it's on is wobbling more then I'd like so the Voron and the Bambu will switch places shortly....then redo the calibration

Heads up....new safety feature involved guessing due to the add on laser module....but pay attention to the bag by the power plug with the red plastic thing in it...she "no worky" without that!

In bad news there is a little scuffing or marring on a front corner..will see if they will do anything to compensate for it but doesn't appear to be functional.
