Finally got around to doing the rough grading. Pulled some stumps and small trees on the west side so my drive will be continuous around the building. Dug trench yesterday to bury electrical service, and get the pole out of my house driveway. Picking up conduit this morning. Wire for The Fort service is in the wind. Expected around the 18th. Installing duel 200amp services, you know, to power shyt up! Grabbed a rattle can of Rustoleum and painted this Man door. Color matched pretty well, pic doesn't do it justice though. That is all, carry on.

Did a dual 200 separate service on my much smaller shop. Costly, but you won't be asking yourself what might have been. Mine runs pool equipment, HVAC, and have load/panel room to run a small apartment long term.

Also assembled my own red iron bolt up. it's water tight but two years in still don't have all the trim up. Well done.

Thank you Sir! I'm allowing for 2or3 50amp RV hook-ups out back, PLUS one INSIDE for MY bus. 20'x40' 2 story under air. I have 2 car lifts, a couple welders/Ginsu plasma slicer, and various other machines. I should have enough power for WHATEVER I want!

Fun.... BTW, I'd look at the contents of the box that was on the rear stack, as it looks to have been crushed on the one piece of dunnage.
So after that fact, ZERO parts were damaged in shipment. It was downspouts and some trim pieces in the crushed box. They DID stack some sheeting off-center, which led to the entire stack (23' long) sliding out of control off the forks! Buck promptly replaced said panels. Now I have extra material for shed roofing for forging area on east side of the building. Outside but covered.

Be very careful about “not fitting”! When I was at the power plant management decided to replace all the handrail on the coal pulverizers. There were 7 mills per unit, 21 in total, labeled A, B, C, D, E, F, & G. The crew installing the handrail called the supervisor over because the “A” stuff only fit in one section, all the rest was made wrong! Same with the stuff for the B mill. So they decided to make it fit by cutting and rewelding everything. When they got done “fixing” all the factory screw ups on B, someone finally looked at the drawings and noticed that each mill required 4 pieces, A, B, C, & D!
Not saying you’re doing the same, but sometimes it helps to have a different set of eyes look at something as complicated as a build such as yours. My father was a red iron building contractor for 20 years and he always insisted that we follow the plans! With it being as hot as you say it’s been and you just want it done, I get it. It’s killing me to just stare at my building laying on the ground for over a month and a half waiting on permits, but after it’s done that will all be a distant memory.
Your shop is looking good and when it’s done it’ll be something to be very proud of!
After all the dust settled, the Cats that installed the sheetmetal moved the tabs that were out of place, no big deal. They said they run into it all the time.

Moved the Bus inside for the first time. I had to relocate it to make way for the trench for electric. Uneventful move. My concern was the steep approach, but my calculations and stellar grading eyeballs prevailed. We're burying the entire electric from the street since THEIR pole is 2' OUTSIDE the easement. What a pita, every scoop netted half bucket of water. Since all the heavy rain, the water table is about 1.5' below grade.

Always a good feeling when you finally get to park inside the new shop.. yeah, you need to move it because the shops not done, but damn it.. it was in!
I'm exercising EXTREME restraint from loading up the shop! I have 3 shipping containers FULL of my shop stuff. I just don't want to be tripping over **** to run the electric. Everything in there currently is on wheels or a running vehicle. I'm keeping my pick up, Jeep and Big truck in there now. Amazing the difference getting stuff out of the sun. Because of the ceiling height, it's really not too bad inside, and big holes allow for a good breeze. Did I say how loud it is when it rains hard??

So the power pole for house electric is/was 1.5' OUTSIDE of easement. It wouldn't even be an issue, but it's right on the edge of my driveway. Half local atty, say tuff, the other half, maybe. So after a couple YEARS beating on FP&L, it went from $20k down to $5200. Now service is buried from the street. So my elec contractor buys all their bulk wire from get this, AMAZON! So I have the wire now, showed up a week early. I'm on the schedule, so now I just wait for them. Going with duel 200amp services vs single 400amp. Cheaper, PLUS I gain a bunch more breaker spaces.

Because I had to put the FF elevation so far above natural grade, I was concerned about the approach. 8 loads of base later, and some fancy ciphering/PBR, and my keen eyeballs. I have plenty of clearance to get the bus in through either door. In this pic the tag axle is dumped, and I have about 8" under the bumper. It's a wonderful thing getting to get under it on a CREEPER instead of cardboard and gravel! Winning some more!

My lights came in yesterday. This is on the top of 12' step ladder. 2 on this side, upper corners, 1 in the rear centered over the door. 15,000 lumens each should be more than enough. Also interior high bay lights came in. More pics to come.

So just starting with some storage until I get more of a solid plan. Picked these babies up for cheap! Out of an Office Max or the like. HIGHLY recommend if you can find some, 500lb per shelf, super adjustable and customizable. It even came with the 4 sections of "slat wall", for lack of knowing the proper verbiage. 16'x7'. I'm hooked now, so versatile. Have my eye on a double set, back to back, like an island set up.
