Tube Bender 3755 = Pass
Brake Line Tool 95782 = Pass
SAE Nut Driver Set 7pc 69239 = Pass
Metric Nut Driver Set 7pc 69238 = Pass

I used the brake line tool and tube bender to make RC Crawler frames from brake line. Works well. I would only say that the nut drivers should have the size on the handle... would make them easier to identify. Both 7pc sets were on sale for $5.99 ea.
Odd though, the pictures show the size on the handle.

I never understood that...

Kobalt - no receipt, easy swap out
HF - no receipt, easy swap out
Craftsman - no receipt, easy swap out
Snapon - I have three terrible experiences with obvious failures. They all became ordeals.

Luckily, I take a camera phone picture of every receipt for reference.

Go figure.
when did snap on start requiring a receipt?
I warranted two ratchets by mail with no request for receipt's.
I got them over 20 years ago, no way I still would have had a receipt.

Yeah, says here, but they never asked me. Was last year sometime.

Pistol grip grease gun 66664 is a pass. Use it every day doing maintenance on forklifts.

18" and 24" bar clamps are a pass. i haven't tried to hold a truck frame down with them or anything, but for clamping wood for glue ups, nailing, sawing etc they all work great. got 6 of the 18" and 4 of the 24" and all are without issue. $5 for the 24", less for the 18". rubber grip handles on the clamp screws. enough pressure to take the twist out of 2x4 and 2x6's. not the ratcheting style, the ones i got are the quick release bar clamps. i'm sure bessey's may be nicer or heavier built but i got 10 clamps for the price of 1-2 bessey's.

also the 10" japanese style double edge saw. $10 and sharp as all get out if you like a pull saw and don't mind that it's disposable. (induction hardened teeth can't be sharpened but not a negative for me). way sharper than one of the stanley fat max pull saws i picked up off amazon.

been using their 25oz california framing hammer also. seems solid enough so far (driven around 500 nails or more). for $7 it'll work until i get a replacement handle for my vaughn framing hammer. only thing i don't care for, it's a little on the light side. my vaughn is 28oz and i'm not sure if it's the head, the handle or both - just feels a bit lighter and less 'oomph' when driving nails but does fairly well esp for being so cheap. other framers i looked at, like vaughn or estwing start around $30+. i figure if this one craps out i'm only out $7. wasn't aware it had a nail set feature on the top of the head with a groove and magnet for one handed starting if needed. not used to using that method so it's a little awkward but works decent. the nail didn't pop out sideways or anything and it did set.

i'd say all 3 of these pass so long as you're not picky. they're not cadillac tools, but they're solid (not flimsy feeling) and so far have met or exceeded my expectation for cheap tools. pretty basic tools, hard to screw up - but the hammer head wasn't loose, clamps don't twist or loosen/strip threads and the saw cuts true. (it's a pullsaw, so it has to be kept in mind it's a thinner kerf and more subject to binding when drifting back through the wood before applying another pull stroke unlike a stiffer western saw).

Has anyone tried out the new #61911 Battery Float Charger? It hasn't been out for long.

How about the #99857 battery charger? On the HF site the reviews seem to fall into very good or very bad, indicating quality control issues.

Both of these are on sale now for $19.99.

Weird. I will have to look at mine. I am pretty sure that my Metric Set has the size on the handles, but my SAE set does not.

I have old style acetate handles nd new soft grip. Only the ne soft grip sae are mrked on hndle. The rest are just labled like a socket on the nut end. I got themin different tool lots I've bought. Got 2 sets of cman nd husky. I use those first.

As far as the 61911 float charger goes, you can get the real deal Battery Tender Jr for a few dollars more. Heck, I think I paid under $20 for it a while back at Sears.

Often wondered why HF never came up with a Bessey K body clone.

I can't find the Battery Tender Jr for sale in Oregon, I think because the State decided that it's power consumption isn't efficient enough. Thanks for saving me from a big mistake, Nanny!

There was a K-body clone, but was almost 10 years ago, I think. It was black.
I think I have > 1, but I'd prefer the real Bessey

However, with all the K-body, whatever, on sale, clearance, or available from
big-lots, the HF K-body was not a smart move.

yea i wasn't knocking bessey, they do make good clamps. but when you're in need of multiple clamps and short on cash, won't get far with bessey. just needed something basic and functional. kind of surprised given the price for the bar clamps, i've used much sloppier and had newer ones that slipped almost right away probably from poorly matched/sized threads.

an update on the $7 hammer, the little magnet in the head that holds the nails in place popped out today. lol..not sure if i'll glue it back in or not even bother since i really don't use that feature. maybe if i get bored once i'm done with more pressing projects.

I've read a few positive reviews on them and considered purchasing one but I've got two torque wrenches already.

Try Costco. They carry them in several states, but it's a seasonal item and not always available.

Love mine. Don't use it very much because of the size, but it useful occasionally. Very accurate in my testing (It was less than 1% off my PI split beams on each pull)

I'm sure it's been said many times already, but I've had a great experience with the fully polished wrenches, 1/2" drive pro impact sockets, welding clamps, and orange hammers. All have held up well through the last 8 months of constant use in a semi trailer shop.
US General boxes are very prevalent in the shop, and appear to be better built and outlast newer Craftsman boxes.

Pass: The Krause and Becker airless paint sprayer (#60600) seems to work really well. Used mine twice the past year, no complaints, though I did swap out the tip for a Graco tip, as I read online that the original one dumps too much paint. Also of note, it is VERY important to clean it thoroughly to prolong life.
Also pass: just got the composite teardrop ratchet (#62318). Only used it a little, but very pleased with it so far. Smooth action, comfortable handle. Hoping they make a 1/4" and 1/2" version.

Yeah. I noticed that too. I just wrote the sizes on with a Sharpie.

Another thing. There are 7 tools in each set but the pegboard tool hanger made for them and screwdrivers and such only has room for six tools. What to do? Not to worry! MillerMatic140 to the rescue! Bought three tool hangers and combined them into two!

LOL.

I just bought an extra and added 4-screwdrivers. =)

3/8" butterfly air impact #93100
FAIL
Worked OK CCW, not at all CW.
Returned.

The older model is a much better one, i use it just about everyday for 8 years now. New ones had horrible gasket sealing issues. Word on the street is an Earthquake model of this tool may come into production sometime next year.

It doesn't take much to outlast the new paper thin Cman boxes, IMO General is making one of the best boxes for the buck today.

Please post a pic or the coupon code under the bar code for this set. I need to buy my mother a Christmas gift and I think this is what I want her to have.

I have a large assortment of various size Pittsburg f-clamps. Not as smooth as Bessey but they certainly get the job done.

I usually pick one up on every trip. One can never have enough clamps.

Big time pass

Look at what you get in each set, both brands are known for throwing in 50 bits and 30 allen wrenches. Craftsman usually runs sale on the 154 piece mechanics set that is all six point sockets and wrenches with no filler for less than $100.

The last time there was a thread dedicated to that 301pc the general consensus was you can get less, but better, for a little more money and get a lot more value out of it.

It's not a bad deal. But HF wrenches, sockets, and bits are not well loved here. Especially if you get a USA 309 pc, yes its worth the extra.

I'd be much obliged to get a coupon to copy!

My local store will take the coupon code without having an actual coupon, It does look like this is the set that would work well for my mother at her place. She will mainly be using it for bed frames, generator battery, tractor battery, general household maintainance. It does however look to be plenty for me to use for more in depth jobs if I need to during a visit.

I found a coupon code here it is

52526026

25% off one item, good thru 1/3/15

Where is this thread? Not really finding it.

I rather have USA made craftsman. But every kit at my local sears is made in China. Even the bigger and smaller kits. Spent an hour looking. They have them out getting ready for Black Friday. So far the master force from menards is USA made but mostly 12 point. The HF 301 looks to be made in Taiwan.
