So basically you probably paid 50% more for the same Made in China stands when you could have purchased the HFs and a can of paint.
Hmmm... for eight bucks in savings you would:
1) buy the orange stands;
2) spend the time to strip/sandblast them;
3) spend six bucks for rattle-can paint;
4) spend the time to paint them;
5) clean up the mess.
Not worth it to me.
Tool color doesn't matter to me (orange, yellow, black - who cares?), but faced with that decision I would gladly pay the eight bucks difference.
Just my 2 cents...![]()
Seeing more, and more about the dead blows. Has anyone broken one? Where did it break?
I really don't care however what color it is.

Yah, we can tell from the weird colors in your avatar. Purple pavement?

Mine broke after a cold day in the shop one tap and it cracked.

How do you adjust the governer on the 2 stroke generator?
See attached...
You don't have to take the tank off. It's on the right hand side under the tank when looking at the outlet/control side of the generator.
I feel forgetting to pick up one from HF I did check them out last time I was in the store.. lucky for me I have to go this friday to pick up the 1 ton engine lift so I might as well pick one up.. I killed a cheap autozone one I had.. somehow the screw came out and it just all fell apart.
having said that... in about 3 weeks from now I will be pulling the heads off my car.. for some odd reason Subaru uses a 12 point bolts for the heads I'm not sure if I should go with the HF socket or look for something else..
Ha! I didn't get far enough to see that you already have the hoist! Yes, the DOHC are a pain to do in-car, but definitely do-able. Phase 2 SOHC are less of a pain, but still doable. But the Phase 1 SOHC... those are a breeze in car. Of course the headgaskets don't have issues so go figure.
The 750lbs engine stand is fine for a Subaru. I've had many a EJ motor on my HF 750. I've also had Jeep 4.0s on it. THAT was a bit scary but it got the job done. That said I just ordered the HF 1000Lbs stand to supplement my two 750lbs stands. Not for any particular reason except that the price difference was negligible. I'll report back my findings.
The 12-point head bolts are no sweat either. No doubt a Pittsburgh socket would be fine. I like them a lot better than the triple square and poly drive headbolts...
haha yeah the SOHC ares a breeze I had a 95 legacy and I put 30K on it and all I did was do the timing belt and water pump.
did you have any issues with the head bolts? kinda odd for a 12 point to be on the heads.. I really have everything ready (going to get the chain tomorrow) I just need to find the right time to do it all since i head back to work next week.

thanks getting tired of having to borrow lol.
