^I need some of those ear muffs. Can't go wrong with $1.99 and beats the hell out of the ear plugs I've been using which just get dirty and are a pain to put in/out with gloves on.

Yeppers. I had some of those mushy in ear plugs (DeWalt branded) but they were dirty the last time I used them. So these HF over-the-ear ones were a nice pickup. They fit nice and snug and don't require any messing around to keep them on your head.

There was some good vids on youtube about these. It seems that they suffer in direct sunlight and strong winds. One person built a floor out of pressure treated 2x6 and 3/4 inch exterior plywood to keep it off the ground. I'm sure that helped. It was fastened down to the floor. I don't remember how it was done tho.

Does anybody have the canvas shed? The price seems great but I'm wondering if you get what you pay for here?

I've had one set up for 6 years. The corner got clipped by a 24" pine tree that fell. The corner rails bent and you can't get parts, but the tent is still standing. The field mice love it.
Other than a few moth holes that have developed, it's going strong. It will last if you follow the tips below.

I just bought a 2nd one to replace a cheaper made tent that collapsed under snow load after 7yrs of service.

TIPS TO MAKE THE SHELTER LAST LONGER :
1) screw the frame to a platform, or two long boards, to keep it grounded. I used two old composite deck boards that I got from a contractor. Spike the boards to the ground to keep it from traveling in the wind.
2) cover the tent with a sacrificial tarp to protect the cover from UV damage. The silver HF tarps are a good value for this, and last a year or two in direct sunlight. Longer in shade. Change out the tarp when needed. In fact, I just put a new one on top and make layers. This helps with snow load on the cover.
3) if you live in the snow belt, the tent sheds snow well, but occasionally needs to be cleaned off if it starts to build up.
4) situate the door so it isn't in direct sunlight all day. (avoiding UV damage)
5) insert a PVC pipe in both ends to keep the end panels stiff. The one in the door helps to roll it up out of the way when needed.

The second tent is being put on a platform. I'm recycling and expanding the old platform to fit the bigger tent. 4x6 PT landscape timbers screwed together with Simpson Strongtie plates inside and outside the seams to make a box. Fill the inside with pallets (free from CL), then lay down 1/2" plywood for the floor. Screw the tent frame to the timbers. This has worked well for years (even in my tent in Maine, not a HF, with about 12 layers of tarps on it now) and supports all my lawn equipment. If you plan on parking a car in it, build a stronger floor. An added benefit is that because I can disassemble it quickly, the town can't call it a permanent structure and tax it at a higher rate. :p

I can definitely recommend this shelter. Especially if you cover it with a tarp to protect the cover.
Double check the sku number in the store. There are about 6 different sku's and they may actually be different heights. If you don't see the one you want, ask them to check inventory on the computer to see if they have the one you want. Research the numbers on their website and go armed. That's how I got a 9' tall one instead of the normal 8' one for $169 with a coupon.

The HF gage set I have is still going strong. The knobs on mine are aluminum, so they would be fairly hard to break. It has been a pass for me.
Mine is the older plastic one as well.. one of the first HF things I picked up.. has to be around 5-6 years old.. I have used it at least 8 times.. I was going to replace it when the next time I need to use it.

I was thinking about digital but it's a pain with batteries and all.

I picked this tool box up last week:
Tool box

It's been great, castors are smooth and rolls easy even when loaded. I'm using it to store my wood lathe tools, chucks, rests and misc equipment for it.

Anyone care to comment on any of their hand trucks?

My dad has one of their basic loop handle red hand trucks, I think 600lb capacity. Has been holding up well for probably 8 years or better moving everything from 150-400lbs. Never anything more than 400 though. It has been slid down the tailgate of trucks atleast a few hundred times with a full 30gallon fuel drum strapped to it.

I have the same one, too. No problems whatsoever. Been very handy. Think I got it for $30 with a 20% coupon a few years back.

5 LED Headlamp-PASS

http://www.harborfreight.com/five-led-magnetic-head-lamp-61528.html

Got this as a "free with any purchase" coupon deal some time ago, just to try out a headlamp for general auto repair use. I liked it enough that I bought a more expensive, brand name, multi power light. Soon after, I found myself grabbing the cheapie HF light instead of the upscale one. Smaller size, less weight and a simpler power switch won out over the availability of much more lumens than I actually needed in a lit garage. I'll save the other one for outdoor or power-failure emergencies.

Why is this a pass? Your post makes it sound like it's a great lamp.

EDIT: Pass in this thread does not mean "go past or across; leave behind or on one side in proceeding." The definition being used is the "(of a candidate) be successful in (an examination, test, or course)." definition.

Anybody using the 1/2" drive 25" breaker bar that is now being manufactured in China? I'm wondering how it holds up to the older Taiwanese version. Debating between the aforementioned breaker bar and the Pro model which is still being made in Taiwan but is almost twice the cost. Thanks

PASS item #90718 Heavy duty straight cut aviation snips.

https://www.harborfreight.com/heavy-duty-straight-cut-aviation-tin-snips-90718.html

I bought the to install drip edge around the roof of the workshop I'm building for myself. They have been extremely helpful. Very sharp and accurate. Some snips I have owned have a tendency to cause bending and deforming the cut edge. I caught mine on sale for $3.99 with my Insider Track Club card.

Hand truck item#62775 PASS

I've had this hand truck since December 2002. It's been a back saver. The tires need airing up from sitting but have never let me down.

Had mine for about 5 years now and it has paid for itself many times over.

I agree. It passes for price level it is in. I used it snow blowing at night. Still on the original cheep batteries it came with. That has been the biggest surprise.
I bought the end nippers for pulling nails out of our hardwood floor carpet tacking strips. Definitely a pass.

https://www.harborfreight.com/10-inch-heavy-duty-end-nipper-38496.html

I bought the 4 inch version and it passes. It is a little dull but that is good as i use it mostly on soft metals, plastics and crimp style hose clamps. You don't want them too sharp for this application.

Harbor freights new Hercules brand of power tools and power tool accessories. Have to say their drill driver bit set (63383) isn't bad. I'd say it comes close to dewalts setup. Plus I can always use the 20 percent off coupon.

FAIL:

Car moving dollies. I bought these in a pinch on a saturday afternoon for a project on sunday (I should know better).

Two of the acorn nuts stripped on the bolts., The casters will flex the plate and hit the carry handle also. Under weight the caster will also hit the v where the tire sits.

We were moving a race car with no motor installed. 1,500lbs tops.

I welded one of the studs to the plate just to get the car moved.

Those look like the ones I have used, going on 6 years now. I've been pushing around my stock '67 Camaro with no problems. Sorry to hear yours are a fail...

Needed a strap set for some light work so went to hf and got their 2 piece set 69373. After that I hung them up. Been about 2 years or so. Went to look for something and noticed that the straps had broken. So their rubber still *****. Big fail on those. Will just get some webbing and install that.

I just bought the strap wrench set. Big fail, broke on first use. Disappointing. Got the job done with the hf pipe wrench though.

Some of those I have replaced with a timing belt or serpentine belt. I'm not sure if you can do that with the one you have.

What part failed? (I just bought one.)

The metal split to the right of the black jack.
