Anyone have any experience or thoughts on the Lithium Ion Jump Starter and Power Pack from harbor freight? There is an ad coming up for it at 59.99. I primarily drive a car, but obviously im not always jumping my own vehicles. Does it have enough ooomph for a truck? Do they hold enough charge long enough?\

Is it worth spending more for a different brand on amazon? thoughts?

I have yet to have much luck with jump packs. The 2 I bought both failed the first time I needed them. Ymmv

I was replacing the chain on my motorcycle and needed to cut a few links off the new one to shorten it so I picked up the 4.5" angle grinder (item #69645) and a 99 cent grinding wheel. It was used for a grand total of 45 seconds to carefully grind off a single rivet but it worked and for a $9 grinder it gets a PASS from me.

I would have to give that chain breaker a fail. The only thing it broke was itself when i tried using it on a 530 chain without grinding the rivet head first.

Old ones were much better. The new ones seem to use plywood on the cross rails

That's why I ground the rivet off before pressing the pin out. I was installing a 525 chain and it's always easier on the tool to grind the rivet down first. I was using a motion pro chain breaker and even those have reviews of the tool breaking because the rivet was not ground down first.

I did exactly that. You can't even buy 4 cheapo casters for the price of the dolly.

That volley could be easily fixed with scrap wood. I buy them for everything. Just one tip, oil up the wheels and bearings, big differance on how they roll.

Hearing about them burning up, after I used it for what I needed, I left it on for ten minutes.nothing, just kept working. Took it apart and saw no damage. Good to go far as I'm concerned.

For the few times I needed heat it worked great. Smoked a bit the first time I started it, but been fine since. Used it for heat shrink and to ignite smoker pellets, it definitely gets hot! For under $10 with the coupon it gets a solid pass.

I have beat the **** out of both the large and the small ones. If you broke one it was all on you.

8 Pc Terry Cloth Staining Pads #46166 is a pass. Used them to stain some unfinished table legs.

45 Pc Hercules Impact Driver Bit Set #63383 is a pass. Been using them with my M12 fuel and M18 fuel impact drivers at the homeowner level.

I nearly quoted a post from page 1 of this thread before I noticed it was from 2008!

I can tell you for a fact that their calipers work great... the first time. Their repeatability is non-existent in 90% of the ones that I see. I work in a calibration lab and it's frightening the condition and quality of the tools that some of these multi-billion dollar companies use... Takata comes to mind

Just used mine last week. It was a tad off center and made it wear unevenly and vibrated like a mofo. Next one I buy I'll look to see it's centered. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Now that you mention it I did notice some vibration, it wasn't unbearable but noticable. I still think for the price difference vs (insert box store) they were worth it.

I also used the 2 different 4-1/2" knotted wire wheels. They were flawless.

I forgot, I do have a pic about the wire cup. This was after I decided to stop using it and go back to one of the knotted. Actually I rotated back and forth because of the vibration. This was in my mask and a bunch others in my shirt. Had spots all over my arms too.



I will admit that I exceeded the 8K rpm on the 12K rpm grinder.

I have the mini pick 63765 set and I use them on a daily basis. They work great for me.

There's no chain breaker on the planet that will reliably push out a pin on a modern 530 chain without grinding the head.

Motorcycle chains are one hell of a lot stronger than they were in the 70s. An o-ring or x-ring chain has much stronger staking. Chain breakers are designed for plain roller chain.

All that said, there's rarely any reason to bother with a chain breaker; just whack the chain in two in five seconds with a metal cutting wheel.

How many rivets would a tool have to break without grinding before deemed reliable? Ive cut 3 unfortunately with my DID KM500R on a 530 vx xring chain so far without a problem. I do have a scrap chain that i accidentally cut one link too short that i could give it more of a workout with. But then again, have an extra pin just in case.

not a garage tool, and IDK if it's been covered in this thread yet or not, but I just put in a deck around my hot tub and didn't feel like digging all the holes for the 4x4's.

HF has a Predator brand 2 stroke power head with 6" auger for $219, but was on sale for $169. it worked great, filled it with 25:1, prime and choke and it started up on 2nd pull right out of the box. dig all 8 holes in about 5 minutes flat.

plenty of power (almost more power than it needs), but easily handled by 1 person. even though it's a 6" auger, the hole it makes is probably closer to 8", and goes down about 2 feet.

I give this a pass, and well worth the money compared to hand digging with a posthole digger if you are putting in a fence or a deck with 4x4 posts.

I have the mini pick 63765 set and I use them on a daily basis. They work great for me.

Maybe i just got a bad batch then. I used them to clean big tap shavings (3/4+) out of holes and the only one that lived is the straight pick.

Does anyone have the 6 ton or 12 ton Jack stands? My truck has a small lift and I need taller Jack stands, my 3 tons dont reach the frame.

Just curious on the build quality and if you would feel safe crawling around under your truck.

Thanks for that; I just picked one up this past weekend too at the same price (and for the same reason), but haven't used it yet. It seems to have very good reviews, and your's is another one.

i have two pairs of the 6 ton stands. no problems here, I had my f100 up on them while I had the suspension out, and the hold up my 03 ram 1500 just fine.

I have 2 sets of the 6 tons, they are beefy. They are identicl to my 3 tons just bigger and the metal is thicker. As I recall they have 23" of lift. I've used them to do a few FWD transmissions. I've had vans on them and a Jeep or two. I don't recall but I'm sure my pickup has been on them at some point. I wouldn't hesitate to use them and I'm pretty over kill on vehicle lift support.
I haven't used them since I got a mid lift though.

I have some property that I work on. I joined a bunch of farming and tractor related forums. I have never heard a bad word about those post hole diggers/augers since they were brought to market sveral years back.

Here's the wire cup as promised. Look how the pressed nut/arbor is a little off center. You can also see that one side of the wheel has thinner bristles, my guess from hitting harder as the clearance changes slightly as it spinning. Next time I'll look closely for one with a more centered cup. Also a pic of the customers gate I used it on, after prime coat.
