the HF USA site is for the retail stores and the HF site is for ordering online.. I've always asked the same question.

they stay bright for about 2 hr on full power about 3 on low power

I don't know any rechargeable light that will work for 5 hr straight

I would not be able to stay in any place like that for that long and if you need 6 hours take 3 lights in with you there cheap enuf

Always wanted a sniffer as my truck has a very slow R134a leak that I have not been able to find using dye and soapy water. I stopped by HF today to buy a 3/8" breaker bar and saw this on the closeout table (the box was opened but the detetor itself was still wrapped in plastic) for $35. Opened it up and scanned the engine bay, nothing, went inside and stuck the sensor in the passenger vent and bingo the actual temp control module is leaking.

I bought one of these last year to figure out the leak in my car and couldn't find it. If I stuck the nozzle by the can and opened it, it'd beep but that was it.. never on any fittings.

I had heard the same about the interior connectors but no luck there either.

Fail: I've had these in my box for awhile and today I needed a short handle 1/2 drive ratchet and this one was the shortest in the box. The head stripped out completely within just a few strokes.

My EZ red flip light will. You can get them through Snap-on, Matco, or direct through EZ red.

I got the $12 socket set in the grey case. With 6 and 8 point sockets. No idea how it'll hold up.

Also the 7 piece plier set for $7.99. Looks horrible, but we'll see.

Some red grease pencils that look okay. A $2.99 voltmeter. All the 99c tape measures were gone.

I have this light, and have to say that it is great, but mine only holds a full charge for maybe.... 15-20 mins on high, if I'm lucky.

I think I'm just going to get a plug in fluorescent light the area I will be working in is not very big.. (Hammond B3 organ for those that know)

7 Ton Electric/Hydraulic Log Splitter #97113 - PASS

First, let me tell you that the splitter comes filled with oil already, so no need to buy the 1.7 gallons it requires.

I used this splitter on the first day for 4 hours. I was surprised at how well it performed. I was splitting logs that were upwards of 22" in diameter. When a log wouldn't split because it was simply too large, I'd pull the log off and rotate it slightly. Eventually it split somewhere, even if not straight through the middle due to an odd knot.

I would have given it a 4 if other electric/hydraulic splitters were around the same price, but there aren't any that I've seen locally and this one is the only one which isn't a grand or so or more.

By the way, this thing never goes on sale it seems. I waited months. Used a 20% off the $399 regular price and then bought the 2 year warranty for $80 so basically got that warranty for free.

Been using it to grind welds, round corners. Works well enough for the price. I can stall the motor pretty easily if I put some good pressure on the piece but for the price I would call it a Pass

Just got back from HF to pick up the hitch mount for my vice, since I built my workbench with a Reese hitch for exactly this purpose. Huge fail, since the mount doesnt even fit a Reese hitch. Squared corners on the mount, and the corners on the hitch are rounded.

Looks like I gotta weld one up after all

The spring action on the calipers was non-existent, which means they did not move when I turned the thumbwheel. The finish was that sickening Chinese semi-rusted metal, with that sticky grease/oil to protect the rust . I paid $3.99 for the set on sale, and it was still not worth the price.

A most abhorrent FAIL.

I had the previous model and took it back. It was pretty junky. The 50-Amp engine start mode was fed through a 15 or 20-Amp breaker. The wire was 18-gauge and the alligator clips were junk. It did charge batteries, but I think you're better off with a higher quality unit.

9x6x6 digital safe item number 94985 fail. i've had one for about a year and the 3, 6, 9, # buttons just quit working. luckily i still had to key to get in. i tried to fix it but i ended up breaking it further.

Thanks for the charger suggestions.. I'll avoid it.

Ended up getting quite a few hand tools today. Kinda frustrated not having some of the more unique ratchets and wrenches that are useful from time to time. Would have gladly bought them from Sears (and maybe I should have..) - but they get pretty expensive when it comes to less regular tools.

All in all about $90. The sidewinder ratchet was only $15. 20% off coupon, and it was mispriced as $17 on the shelf (regularly $25). The manager worked it out.

Hopefully the crows feet and flare wrenches are decent. The long wrenches were $17.99 with coupon. I may print another coupon and grab the SAE set.

I avoided the cheaper thumbwheels sold in sets of 3. And bought the individual one. Hoping it's a little better quality. I need one of these badly..The craftsman one is $17, this was $4..So hopefully it turns out to be a good deal.



Also, does anyone have their gearless ratchets? Noticed them there, but they don't have the same ones on the website. Would be nice for those tight areas where you can barely get a regular ratchet to click back. I just probably wouldn't apply a lot of torque to it. I think it was $10..

Feels like decent quality in my hands. The main issue it may have is that the head is really fat. Probably about the width of 2 1/2 regular ratchets. So clearance will be a problem in the real tight spots. But it should make a lot of work MUCH faster.
I hate getting on bolts that break loose, and are too loose for the ratchet to turn them, but then get tight again. So you do a bit with your finger, put the ratchet back on, back and forth etc.. This, (along with the thumbwheel) will hopefully save some time frustration with those situations.

By "couple bucks" you mean 50% more. The diehard is probably also made overseas.

I'd take the chance on the HF unit first, you can return it in the first 30 days if it doesn't work very well.

The starter is probably worthless like the guy higher in this thread said... but it's 50 amp, don't expect miracles.
