I don't own any ratcheting wrenches. I have an extensive set of wrenches in many styles and sizes. My socket and drive tool selection is very diverse, as well. I have many options for most fasteners I encounter. If I were a pro mechanic I would consider ratcheting wrenches for the time savings they offer. I'm pretty efficient without them, so maybe it wouldn't matter.

For me it's the crows feet wrenches. I've never ran into a situation where I thought I need them. For the longest time I didn't have any stubby wrenches or need them but a few weeks ago I picked up a set of 4 SK made Craftsman Professional stubbies but have yet to see a need for them.

Angle wrenches.
Every time I am in a bind and wrestling with fittings in tight spaces, I swear I'll buy a set of angle wrenches next.
Then I manage to finish the job anyway, and wonder why I need yet another specialized set of wrenches.

With so many impressive builds, sometimes I feel like the only guy without a 30x50x12 playroom.

No flexing ratchet wrenches, not a single thing from HF, no German made tools,
No 1/4 swivel universal sockets

...I know there's more. Those are just the ones that come to mind. I think I can get by without all of them too

Another I just thought of is the full collection of Channel Lock pliers. I have a few pair. I just don't find it necessary to have them all.

An anvil.

I really want one, but currently the wife and I are a little too nomadic to have a place to have one.

I have never owned a MAC or Matco tool. I did have a Matco service cart for a while, but sold it off. I also don't think I own any SK tools anymore. Nothing against these brands, but I just haven't come across a deal on any of their stuff that I couldn't pass up.

The only wood working tool I own is an old school hand saw.

I literally don't own a shovel, but I have a front yard and a backyard.

I also don't own a lot of stationary tools (drill press, vertical bandsaw, shop press, mill, lathe, etc.) due to space constraints. I have access to them, so it's not the end of the world.

Wow, fascinating thread! I have a few of the things mentioned (wife! Cman RP's!), and the big stuff I don't have has already been mentioned (like, say, a garage).

I don't have...

A Roy socket (just found out about these last week).

A Bog socket (something in an obscure /32 would be nice).

A really clonky ancient ratchet, some 12-tooth behemoth from 1947 or so.

Enough tools.

A question for all the folks with no Craftsman wrenches: how'd you avoid that? When I was 16 and needed tools, Sears was the only game in town.

That's a good question. Sears was basically my only option before I could afford stuff from the SO truck. There's another local store that has tools but their selection of sockets, wrenches and screwdrivers was always cheap stuff with no warranty.

Me too, I wish I could find one cheap so I can patch the rust outs on my car instead of just bondoing them over and over.

Check YouTube for methods of permanently fixing rust hole. Basically the same as with welding.

First, purchase a patch panel for the place that has rust. It need to be several inches larger in all directions. Cut out the bad section. Trim new piece to fit. Using the proper adhesive, attach support from behind and let cure. Bond new piece to the supports. Let cure. Filler, sand, putty for air bubbles, high build primer, sand, prime, paint.

ANY Snap On tools !! Mostly (old made in the USA) Craftsman, some Lisle, some K & D, and some HF.

I'm looking for a good deal on a SN24 on eBay. What is the difference between SN24A, SN24B and SN24C ?

Impact wrench of any type in general, a Milwaukee Fuel specifically. I want one despite rarely reaching for my impact driver and adapters. I always assume it's too bulky or underpowered for what I need so I just grab a ratchet or wrench.

A set of 1/2" sockets to go with my $5 Craftsman 1/2" breaker bar I found in a pawn shop. I actually have a need for some larger sockets and have the breaker bar. No explanation for why I haven't pulled trigger on that.

Once you get some you will hardly ever use regular box wrenches

Angle wrenches are about the only tools that I actually feel like I need to have a complete set, but i'm picky and only want SO 30/60's. When you need them you actually need them.

Lemme see, somewhere to work out of the elements, lift, blast cabinet, welding helmet, spare XJ6 for parts, additional XJ6 for parts....

And a 17mm O2 socket! They seem to be like hens teeth at sensible prices (ie nonexistent)

But I found a hen's tooth today!!! I now have a mole in the branch that has been causing me headaches for years! (All courtesy of one person that doesn't listen to common sense) Her deputy has realised her boss is a dangerously loose cannon so has developed a titter of wit so is now playing nice and feeding me back what is really going on - I would have found out eventually but better to kill things off at 'issue' stage before it becomes a 'situation' and then 'crisis'

I love crisis comms and management, but I'm getting rather tired of one single official not listening to advice and causing me headaches

Sorry, went off topic, but on a high having finally got a mole in that branch!

Re: The "I must be the only guy on GJ without a ____" thread.

Compulsive desire to have three of everything. Even though I have a lot of quality tools, I only keep extras of things that are used in pairs.

Likewise, I must be the only guy without 'beater' tools. I use my tools in the way they are intended 95% of the time

After spending a lot of time on this site i'm sure everyone notices a lot of posts/pics of specific tools reoccurring in many toolboxes. In some cases I feel like I must be the only person on GJ that doesn't have a certain tool. I thought it could be fun to see if other people have some tools that stand out to them.

In my case I feel like I must be the only person in the U.S. that doesn't own a Craftsman raised panel ratchet of any size. I have SO, Armstrong, Matco, Gearwrench, SK, HF, etc, but one of those RP's has never made it's way into my collection.

Thinking that if All the GJ Members joined forces and put all our tools in one massive shop, Your question would still stand for Us as a group... Some creative mind would come up with a completely new tool,, and we would have to charter a fleet of busses for the group safari to Sears at Christmas time..

This thread will be useful come Secret Santa time...

I work on cars, so obviously all the home improvement / wood working sort of stuff. I cant imagine what I would need a plumbob on a car for. :shrugs:

As far as automotive, crowsfeet I have never been in a situation where I have said " Hey, ya know what would do the trick here ?!?!?! "
That and a decent borescope.

I also don't have a bunch of Craftsman stuff. I had zero Craftsman tools of any kind pre-GJ. Don't have any fond memories of using ****** RP rats growing up :bounce:

Since I've come to GJ I've gotten a few Craftsman items, a 3/8 RP rat with the V selector just because it looked cool, and came with a 3/8 breaker, for cheap. A 1/4 RHFT because I like RHFT and this one was in mint condition and cheap (I prefer Easco/Allen branded RHFT as I dig the knurled handle). A pair of snap ring pliers (Wilde made). A 25" red plastic handle non-striking pry bar (also Wilde made). A rolling head pry bar. Various 1/2 drive extensions that came in a set. A 3/8 drive L-handle with drives on both ends. I think that's all the C-man I have.

If this thread would have been posted a year earlier I would have also said crows foot sockets. However I needed a 12mm to disconnect the throttle cables from the carb on my KLR650. I couldn't find anything else that would work.

A garage! But it seems I'm not the only one. I hate apartments, especially those won't let me fix my car in parking lots.
