There are a number of threads on this website started by members asking "Who made this Klein ratchet?" or "Who made these Klein sockets?"
If any of you out there OWN any Klein CHROME sockets or ratchets, would you mind posting a photo or two showing the markings on the tools?

There is something of a "theory" that they were outsourcing from XXXXX but thus far there really hasn't been any sort of definitive evidence provided that might lead to at least a reasonable guess as to who was actually the OEM manufacturer.

NOT interested or concerned with later-production laser-engraved impact sockets - only interested in chrome.

I know this is an old post, but I haven't viewed this thread before. Did you ever get an answer to this? I have some 1960s-70s Klein chrome sockets and a ratchet that I can dig out if you want.

no... nobody ever came forth with any information.
The reason for my question was:
I had purchased some trays of Klein sockets - three sets, all the same.
The buyer of the first set sent me a P/M asking "How do you know these are KLEIN sockets? They don't say KLEIN on them anywhere."
I've yet to see any Klein sockets on which Klein had their own name on them. Maybe I just don't get out enough.
Maybe they don't exist.
My hope in asking the question was to see what other Klein chrome sockets might look like.

Socket set metal case, and an extension. I thought there was a 6" extension, and I'm pretty sure there was a yellow handled spinner, but I can't find either of them. I can't guarantee this isn't a case for the 3/8 set, but this is what they were in.

My dad has a couple.
9/16 part #65713 USA
7/16 part # 65711 USA
I don't think he has a full set. Most of his tools are 7/16, 1/2 or 9/16 and I suspect some were provided by the company.
Sorry for the awful picture, but it's almost impossible to see the laser etching or the stamping (notice the sharpie marking).

He has a round head ratchet stamped KLEIN as well... somewhere.

They are designed for the bolts on utility poles. Not sure how long they’ve been around.
The reason why I asked I could have used them many times in day to day work . I see their value and worth , threaded rod and unistrut , cable ladder, service line work. Being in my part of the world they are not readily available an import tool .

Just found this as an addendum to the 1963 catalogue . 1963 is the date of start of manufacture

How is it that I can go years and never come across a Klein ratchet and now that it becomes a discussion here I come across two in the same weekend?!
First, the SK in the above post and now second, a complete 3/8 set still in the shrink wrap!
The tools are stamped USA and there is a sticker in the bottom of the box that confirms the contents are USA made.
I think these are Wright sourced. They produced similar sets in these red boxes and black plastic trays.
I couldn’t get a great picture without glare due to the shrink wrap and I wasn’t ready to bust it open as I may end up selling it, but here ya go...

Got this with Tradesman Club points
The picture doesn't do justice, those 12” bags are fantastic!
I also got my black one using points. Took a while to build up enough for that one!
I have a white one I use on a daily/weekly basis secularly. Got it with points too. When they started offering the black, they increased the amount which was a bummer and then eventually quit offering the white.
A little tip, a chain or cable threaded through the hole below the hinges allows it to be locked up if needed.
We were just discussing bags with buckles in the Facom thread. I have no problem with them and they function just fine on these style bags.
Lastly, these small bags are chick magnets. I know a few that want one to use as a purse.
Thanks for sharing!

I’m finally embracing the modbox stuff. I need to get my truck organized and hope this will help. Lowe’s has them on sale at the moment for $40 off all the drawer units. I have another on order showing up this week.

Trying to do electrical work out of a short bed truck ***** big time. They are nice to ride in as they are quiet but I cant seem to carry squat compared to what I used to have in a van.

Willf, if your furd is a crew cab, these things fit like a glove back there. The passenger side of mine has the base unit and deep box on top with the handle between those and the back seat.

Middle facing forwards is a two drawer with a medium and two thin ones on top. My ice chest sits in front of the drawers

The drivers side has four of the medium units with my bag between those and the front seat.

The best part is all of it is level with the bottom of the windows so it doesn’t crab any attention.

The only thing I lack at this point between electrical and metal fab is a welder. There’s a lot of **** in there.

Unfortunately I have an extended cab, not a crew cab.

I have a 70% bed slide in it and think I could manage it better if I had a 100% bed slide. Being a short bed and having a major issue accessing the last 3’ of the bed over the tailgate ***** due to the cap.

No kidding. I can’t stand this short bed. All I wanted or needed for a company truck was a long bed reg cab with the V8. Now corporate is buying mavericks and the little trans vans for work trucks. They’re flipping clueless about the fact a truck is a tool.

Modbox phase 1. I think I need to buy one of the Etsy steel mounting plates for these. I was working in a solar field parked on a slope and they are a little tippy. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue but the small top case is filled with hardware (nuts and bolts) and although it’s small it’s the heaviest box in the stack.

I went a little overboard while these boxes were on sale at Lowes. I bought 5 of the drawer units but am not sure were to use them at this point. I may wind up returning some.

One another note I bought one of these Awesome lights and it’s by far the best headlamp I’ve ever seen. As I’m getting older I have trouble seeing in dimly lit areas and this is way better than the 2 other models of headlamps I have on the truck.

Ok, I need to chill out. I’ve bought so many tools in the past few weeks I need to lose some. I found a fancy screwdriver and a 7/16” nut driver in a control panel yesterday.

The issue is they were mine from about a month ago and I already bought a replacement screw driver.

I’ve been making a lot of control panels recently and have been marking them out with a combination square. I bought this today when I saw it for laying out control panel back plates. I haven’t used on of these since I was in high school votech classes.

New on the market , they were cheap , not a big fan, an idea From 1960s west Germany , but the younger electricians like them, it seems each generation favours a different style of pliers .
