Thanks everyone, the little guy is doing great.

This big box was waiting for me when I got home tonight, unfortunately I have to finish up a job for the office so I can't play with my new toy tonight . This is busy season for me and I'm putting in some longer hours. My ImageUploadedByTapatalk1456794939.384978.jpg old saw let the smoke out a few weeks ago. This was on sale so I talked myself in to it.

Broke in the new saw tonight
Very happy with it. It's light, powerful and accurate. Like the sports car of miter saws. Finished up my shelves/cabinets, hopefully I'll get them sanded and painted on the weekend.

Spent the afternoon painting my shelves/cabinets I've been building. 5 of them so far, still have to make doors.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1457314944.799429.jpg
They'll have sliding doors, the cabinets are built to fit around the windows and will leave enough height underneath to fit my tool boxes, fridge and drill press, so I can move my tools anywhere in the garage.
I used more of the loop paint that I used on the walls, but In grey.

Interesting use of recycled materials by one of the former owners of the Little Block Wall Garage. This is the under side of the bottom two shelves of the old bench that was in the corner.

Awesome! Hand-lettering-----the RIGHT way to make signs. (See my profile on here if you don't know why I'm excited about stuff like this! :) I probably would have saved the sign just for it's own sake as a 'wall decoration'.

Thanks, the sign was cool but I was a customer of that bank and had a such a bad experience that I could 't hang that sign up.

I worked in a sign shop one summer during high school, mostly doing vinyl, but I have a real respect for anyone who takes the time to do hand painted work.

Last night was pretty exciting, my friends and I are building a twin engine dragster, and they got one of the engines assembled. Last night was the first firing, unfortunately it's missing because of bad plug wires. The ones we had wouldn't clear the headers so we used an old set and one of the wires had a burnt spot, and we had to put them on backwards

My friend Dave built the test stand out of scrap, we didn't have the right fuel pump so we used the pump and tank on one of the other racecars with a long fuel line, it has an electric pump.
The starters **** too but it runs

Update Time!

I've got all the cabinets I made hung and sliding doors made for most of them. The doors slide ok, some of them need some tweaking to make them perfect.

There's a large window in the back of my garage, over the work bench. Because of the window there was a 12" high area above the window that was mostly useless space, it wasn't really big enough for storage, and since it's over the bench it's difficult to get to, so I built what I call the Trophy Case. It holds some awards I've won at car shows, some model cars I got as gifts, some collectible items and my stereo. The construction is the same as my other cabinets except that the sliding doors are made of clear plexiglass.

I also made a ladder rack, now i need a step stool to get my ladder down, but it's up out of the way in an otherwise unused space.

Finally, I got my beloved 2006 Mustang out of storage. I put the car away two years ago when my daughter was born and I bought my woody wagon. This is my first and only brand new car. My wife and I went on our first date in this car and I drove it to the church when we got married and then to Watkins Glen for our honey moon. It's not a V8 but the Legend Lime paint with Pony Package makes it a one year only car. The stripes and tint are original dealer installed and other than tires and a battery the car is factory original and I plan to keep it that way. I know it will never be worth big money but it's priceless to me.

Garage renovation is now officially on hold for the summer, I've got work to do on the Woody, and my dad's '63 F100.

Nice garage. Such a small world too! I grew up in St. Catharines, went to SWC (86-92), then to Brock (92-96), then moved to Iowa for a year, and finally ended up in Florida. When I saw the signature with NOTL, I was wondering if maybe it was someone I knew. LOL.

I haven't been working on the garage over the summer as I've been busy with other projects, mostly replacing the back deck and working on my airstream, but I had to post my recent tool score !

This box was given to my dad, it belonged to his friend's father who I think passed away. My dad didn't have use for it and offered it to me. the tools are mostly Snap on and bluepoint,
Not sure where I'll put the box yet, defiantly happy I brought this home.

Can't believe it's been almost 5 months since I've updated this.

No work has been completed on the garage, but I picked up a part time job teaching accounting, finished my deck and took the family to Disney with our 1977 Airstream, 4,200km.

I thought I'd be able to get back to work on the garage, but now I've gone and bought this trailer and it needs a little work.

I've partnered with my dad and we're 50:50 owners and my friends are letting me park it at their house on the condition they can use it occasionally.

Felt great to get out in the garage after the weekend we had, my almost one year old son spent a few days in the hospital with pneumonia, but he is home now and doing much better.
Ive been building a new stand for my drill press. Almost done, bolted down the drill press and grinder tonight, just need a pull for the door. The drill press and grinder I picked up at an auction for $75 about 5 years ago.
I used casters off a harbour freight furniture dolly so it rolls like all my other equipment and benches.

Spent a few hours last night crawling around in the attic running new wires. Sore this morning, seems my body has become used to sitting at a desk all day.

The wiring in the ceiling is a little messy, I think every owner of this house has added a light or an outlet and it's gotten out of hand. First job is to add lights in the attic so I can see to work, then to run new wires for lights, then pull out the old wiring.
And get rid of this kind of thing 39e27aff7b713d5ff6bb97dbe786072d.jpg

Need to post an update to keep myself motivated.
Electrical is taking a lot longer than expected. Crawling around in the attic is no fun. Future project is definitely to add a floor up there so it's easier to move around.
Attic lights are in but not yet hooked up, now I'm on to the new ceiling boxes and wiring.
I also added a switch that will one day power my compressor room that I'm going to build behind the garage.
Just a few more hours of attic work and this stage will be done!

Been doing slot more working in the garage than on the garage but today I'll be adding some much needed parking.
More to come...

That's a great space!

I'm relegated to a single garage bay (but it's all mine) and I like some of the things You've posted here. I'll be starting a thread on organizing it all soon, I just haven't got that far yet.

Haven't done any work on the garage but lots in the garage.
I've been putting together a replacement engine for my '54 Country Squire, a 292 Y block.
Got some buddies coming Saturday to drink my beer and help get the engine swapped in.

Parenting takes a lot of time away from the garage but it’s so worth it.

Today my little girl helped me put together a crate to store the engine I took out of the woody wagon. It’s not a valuable engine except that it’s the original one year only engine from my ‘54 Country Squire, so I don’t want to give it away.
We built a crate to store it in out behind the shed, not waterproof but good enough for an old engine that needs a rebuild.

Then I knocked together a sled out of scraps around the garage. We used the sled to drag the engine in to the back yard, then the kids got sled rides.
Great afternoon

Thanks for the bump,
It’s been a busy time with two kids, two jobs and everything else that makes life exciting.

The woody wagon is finally running great with its new engine and power disk brakes.
IMG_3491.jpgIMG_3498.jpg

My friend wrecked his BMW racing so we spent the winter putting it back together
IMG_3271.JPG

And the twin engine racecar runs and moves.
The body is in primer and I’ll be painting it tomorrow night if everything works out.
The car will make its first pass down the drag strip at an event in August.

Now it’s off to my parents for the annual Father’s Day bbq.
So happy Father’s Day to all the dads on here

Haven’t seen this thread before. Wow upgrading garage space, new kids, nice cars, race cars. Dual engine cars are pretty amazing, I meet a guy whose family used to race dual engine rotary Wankels. Still have it stored away but got to take a look. I really like the wagon. Nice job on passing the wagon off on the premise of a family vehicle. Haven’t been able to pull that one off.

Mark, thanks for stopping by my thread. Now that I've found yours, how about an update. As a kid I thought it was cool when they started putting one-piece curved windshields. I knew every change in every model of the big three back in the 1950s. Sometimes it was a little chrome update in the taillights and other times it was a big change in the side chrome. My father was not impressed with my encyclopedic knowledge of automobiles ("World's largest font of useless information"} but he was with my brother's encyclopedic knowledge of baseball, football and basketball players and statistics.

Your vehicle collection is (was?) fantastic. The Airstream is the cherry on top.

Thanks to Bob for encouraging me to post an update, life really got away from me.
I got a promotion at work which basically added a lot more stress and hours and not much else. Then Covid hit and they closed the school and daycare, but my wife was essential so she had to go to work and I had to work from home and do virtual school with the kids.
The garage became my sanctuary since I didn’t so-much work from home as live at work. School all day and catching up on work in the evening didn’t leave much time for life.
The garage has a TV now and a comfortable chair, but unfortunately I spent too much time drinking and watching roadkill.

Then in 2022 I changed careers and got my life back. The new job has much better work life balance and I again have time for projects and family.

The garage has been an amazingly versatile space. I swapped the engine in the woody wagon which made a huge improvement in driveability, I made some upgrades to the engine in the Cobra to go drag racing. I built cabinets for my racecar trailer which I use as a car hauler and a place to sleep at the track.

And I’ve managed to maintain the daily drivers and the house.

We’ve been travelling a lot more with the Airstream and this past summer took it to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood.
IMG_9299.jpeg
I started drag racing the cobra but discovered I like Autocross better. This winter I’m making some handling upgrades.

IMG_8081.jpeg

IMG_0548.jpeg
I also discovered I like exercising, so the garage has become a workout room with a selection of dumbbells and kettlebells. Work provides a wellness account that paid for these items and my mental and physical health have definitely improved since I started working out a few days a week.

Right now I’m upgrade the woody to an overdrive transmission so it will be better on long trips. This past summer I took it on a beach camping trip and someday I plan to do PowerTour in it.1FD39662-7FB0-4038-9C1A-FE60190A9F03.jpeg

At some point i started posting videos of racing on YouTube to share with my friends so a lot of my adventures are posted on my YouTube channel now.

I’ll try to do a better job updating the garage thread going forward. It was really fun rereading my posts and seeing the transformation.

Mark, I started watching your YouTube channel with "The Low Power Tour" video.

Your '54 station wagon is such a cool time capsule. I couldn't tell for sure if your wagon still had the original vacuum windshield wiper motor. Going up a hill or flooring it to pass means the wipers almost stop moving.

In your "Onboard Battery Charger" video I was surprised to see a 12v battery in your '54. It has been a long time but I recall Ford having 6-volt batteries with positive ground. I messed up trying to turn the engine over on my "free" (supposedly blown engine) 1956 Ford Fairlane hardtop. I thought it still used a 6 volt battery with positive ground (like my '47 Ford 2-door sedan) so I jumped the '56 Ford from my '55 Plymouth (6v positive ground) with the positive lead to the engine block ground wire and the negative lead to the solenoid. It did nothing so I assumed the car had a bad starter. Had I used the battery from my '56 Chevy, things might have gone better (12v negative ground, like the '56 Ford).

The wagon has some upgrades for modern conveniences and availability of parts.
The vacuum wiper parts were missing so I adapted the rear wiper motor from a minivan. It’s nice having wipers that don’t stop or slowdown when you accelerate.

The factory wiring was mostly disintegrated so the car has a new wiring harness and has been converted to 12v negative ground. It’s a lot easier to find 12v parts these days.

I’ve tried to be thoughtful when doing updates and upgrades to the car. I do t want to loose the car’s personality, just improve the useable and safety.
