Bo, the truck dog, has taken his last ride.

The only one who was truly happy to see me everyday for the last 15 years.

Sad day.

It's a bad day when it comes. Many of us here have experienced it and I feel bad for you! So sorry to hear you lost your faithful companion.

I'm sure you gave Bo a good life and you have many good memories to reflect back on.

I have two 14 year old cats, both have issues, but seem to be doing fine. I know I will be upset when either of them have to go, but the GF will be devastated and that is going to be worse than actually losing the cats. Maybe you could make a piece dedicated to Bo?

Thank you all for your thoughts and comments.

Bo was a noble beast, and a force of nature.

He'll be missed.

I've known the day was coming for months, but that didn't make it any easier.

I know exactly how you feel, I went through this only a few months back with my dog who had been with me for almost 15 years. The memories remain, triggered by small things during they day, and the sadness they often trigger fades slowly over time. I have a new pup now, a 1 yr old GSD rescue. My wife persisted until we found the dog who really clicked for me. Having him around really helps. Sorry for your loss.

I saw this picture from another thread, I saw the rabbit passed as well. They are back together now. Great picture of both of them. Sorry if it is too much, I will remove it.

Sorry to hear about Bo. 15 years is an exceptionally good run for a dog that size! You were a good Dad for sure.

Look!! squirrel!!

Got the day to spend any way I wanted and instead of finishing any of the numerous projects I have going, I started a new one.

Pulled out the plasma and the welder, and started a TV stand. A friend moved, and left us a nice 32" flat screen.

I could have gone to the store, bought one and been done with it. No, No.

I have to spend my whole day, burn up materials and consumable, and still not have a working TV this evening.

Did have fun though.:D

The stand will be a tapered, curved arm with a typical mount on top, and a lazy susan type base. I'll also figure out a shelf for the cable box/player.

Roughing in the tapers:

Free handing the curves:

Initial fit up left me with flat spots on the curve:

Fixed it:

As far as I got today:

Think I just found the base for the TV stand.

The same old Delta/Rockwell shaper I cut up last week had a nice cast iron base.

Might just work.

Need to devise a pivot system, so the whole arm will pivot 360 degrees.

I'm thinking about a couple pieces of pipe, that nest nicely and some sort of thrust bearing.

Definitely open to ideas on this.

Thanks guys.

Trailer spindle just might work, but I think I got a line on some bearings.

Came home to an empty house, and started cutting up some rectangular tube.

They are going to run up the back side, for some cord management.

Cord management are two of my favorite words!!! No sloppy cords and cables here.

Had to skip dinner to get some of these installed.

Couldn't wait to see how they'd look.

Need to cut another 10 or so.

That is looking so good. When I saw the first weld up picture I thought to myself that it would have been cool to have 2 web pieces that you could space making a hidden cord chase between the two. Something to consider on the next two or three.

Rivenn, in regard to your pivot, I would be inclined to machine some suitably sized pipe with a close fit so it is smooth to operate and perhaps a couple of nylon washers for your thrust bearings.

Luv the cable management system, works well.

Larry,

I've got a few more ideas of potential "uses" for something similar.
Thanks

1/2 Cup,

There are a few ideas rattl'n around in my head. I want it to move easy, but not too easy. I could see where if the floor is slightly out of level, bearings might allow it to find it's own direction due to gravity. Maybe a locking mechanism?

Toolfool,

I've always liked Nessie.

I did manage to get the rest of the "Vertebrae" installed tonight, but it got too dark for pics.

Never used WD40 as form oil before:

1XZK

Re-bar cage welded up with coupler nuts as inserts for the leveling feet.
Also a center bearing point for the pivot, with bolts as 'Nelson studs':

Mud. Added a little lamp black to the mix:

Nothing left to do but watch it dry!
