By the time I got the live stream up and running, it was too dark to see anything.

I did pull the side forms off this morning, to get a glimpse of what it's going to look like.

I'll give it another day to cure up before I flip it over and strip the top off.

I can't say I'd use WD40 as a release agent again, but overall looks like I got the desired affect.

The concrete seemed to firm up enough that I decided to pull the rest of the forms.

I was hoping for a split of about 15% exposed rock pockets and 85% rough sawn wood grain pattern.

I got just about the opposite. I knew that I should have waited for some diesel to put on the forms, the WD40 just didn't do it.

Oh well, it's a live with at this point.

I will wait for a few more days before I remove the PVC pipe, so my center hole will be the correct diameter for the bearing pivot point.

Still need to find a TV mount, and figure out the top end too.

As it sits tonight:

Looks like a serpent ready to strike! If you do need to pour more concrete, next time mix some ATF with some diesel, that makes a great form oil. You can just brush it on, with large forms we use garden sprayers. We rarely use that mixture anymore, but I can remember using it in the past, now we use form oil. It is more expensive, just not as bad as having OSHA ask where the MSDS is for our home brew mixture would be.

I know I should have taken the time to do it right.

I still like it, it's just disappointing when you don't hit your target.

I don't do concrete everyday like I used to.

Thanks ya'll.

I'm thinking the Rockwell lathe is going to clean up real nice.

Might even paint it to match my 6" X 48" belt sander. They'd look great together.

Scimonetti,

I haven't been to active on the lathe lately, but I do turn a fair bit.
I've been enjoying your thread.

I'd like to try more hollow vessel type turning, like you do.

Most of my work has been tool handles, canes and smoking pipes.

I may have posted these before, but I'm kind of getting excited about getting back into some turning.

I picked up a free lathe several years ago, and it's still sitting in the corner of the shop. Your canes look great.

Crank the sucker up, and get turning!

I found the perfect tool for spinal surgery

(Or, at least to clean up hard to reach welds)

No tables or chairs or welding or plasma cutting today.

Nicest day of the year so far, and we are doing yard work in preparation for my son's graduation party next week.

I did however, find a new use for the plasma cutting table: Gravel screen!

Threw a little expanded metal on top, and cleaned up a bunch of wash rock.

Digging, grading, hauling buckets of crushed rock and sand, moving stacks of bricks.

I'm thinking I'm going to be sore tomorrow.

Laid down a bed of 5/8 minus, compacted.

Layer of sand, compacted.

Started setting brick, then I compacted them too.

Need to set up tomorrow and do all the cuts, then check this one off the list!

Great job on the bricks Rivenn.

Thanks 1/2 Cup.

This is a warm up for my larger front yard patio.

Today's project was 3' X 10'.

The front yard will be approx. 25' X 20'.

I'm still collecting bricks for it.

I feel sore just looking at what you did.

I was feeling it for a couple days.

Not much going on around here, other than getting ready for my son's graduation party. Lots of cleaning up the yard, and finishing up the bricks.

I did come across this old dental cabinet, and just couldn't say no to it.

Free, so at least the price was right. Not like I needed another project, and I sure don't have the room for it. All the same, it came home with me.

Metal drawers all in good working condition, and I love the faucet and built in light fixture. The gas/air valves look cool to.

Ya 1/2 Cup, no way I was going to pass on these.

Together, they are about 8' long. Too long for any wall space I have.

Separated, they should prove to be more useful to me.

The cabinet with the faucet, light and gas valves has the cool factor and it has a Univ. of Washington label on it, but the drawer unit will provide more utility.

It has a paper stone type top on it that should clean up real nice.

Too many projects:willy_nil:willy_nil:willy_nil

Brought home another CL freebie. Parent brand metal workbench.

Much heavier gauge than some I've seen.

I've been wanting an exterior workbench, so I decided to paint it with truckbed liner. Took 4 rattle cans, but I got good coverage.

Now, it just needs a top and some castors.

I don't know if they are hiring, but they are a company on the move.

Each job they get is more interesting than the last.

Great bunch of talent there.

Go to Wesco and get the Raptor bedliner kit. Works way better than rattle cans and it is tintable so if you want colors they can do that.

Kwb,
Thanks for the recommendation. I wanted to burn up a HD gift card, and I didn't want to wait for an order, so it's a done deal now.

Look for an old tanker desk, they have very heavy duty tops. They usually have a laminate glued to the metal, it will peel up in the rain, but it can easily be glued down again.

I have a tanker top sitting next to the base right now.

I'm thinking about cladding it in galv. 20 gauge, with soldered corners.

Kind of like I did on the aviation table.

Be patient. You'll probably come across a nice piece of stainless that you can build an angle iron frame for.
