Very nice. That is what I call a garage. The way you have fitted it into the footprint of your home it looks as though it is a complete package as opposed to an afterthough. JMHO

Thanks!

I pretty much had free reign from Mrs. Mac to do what I wanted when it came to building the shop. She had two request .... One was that the architecture was complimentary of the house. So when I designed it I used architectural features that matched the house.

Her second request was that it's presents didn't overpower our house. It is a relatively small one story home. That was a bit of a challenge when planning a 1300sq ft shop that had one bay with a 13 foot door and another that needed 12 ft of ceiling height for the lift. I used the slope in the lot to set it down in the bank. I also took consideration when designing the roof so that it was as low as feasible. The tallest bay is 14 feet to the ceiling with the peak of the roof being less than four feet higher than that. In the end the shop roof was actually lower than the roof on the house.

Because of that low roof line I have no usable attic space but that was a small price to pay for her satisfaction. It is funny ... she even brings her friends down to show off my shop now and then.

Tall bay .... 17' x 36' with a 14' ceiling. The door is 12' wide x 13' high.

Shorter bay ..... 30' x 20' with a 12' walls and a vaulted ceiling. The door is 10' wide x 11' tall.

The center door between the bays is 8 X 8. It is a sectional door with a high lift track that brings it up to the ceiling where it turns.

PM me with your email address and I will send you a copy of the plans.

Doug the garage looks great. I take it that you are backing the trailer along the left side of the house. How wide is the driveway?

At the front of the house it is about 14' between the fence and the house and then narrows to about 13' at the back of the house. And... you have to avoid the the two foot eave that hangs into the driveway.

It is a little tighter than I would like. You have to be paying attention but it isn't too tough to get it back there. Another couple of feet would be nice there.

Any chance you have a part number for the hot / cold water taps ?
Sorry ... I even went out and took a look at it and there was nothing that I could see that would help you identify it.

I bought it from a local wholesale plumbing supply place. They had several in stock including horizontal and vertical orientations.

Wow what an awesome garage. You really did do a good job making that big of a garage blend with the house. Thanks for sharing.

House?! , who cares about the house?

Lets just put it this way...... there is more harmony in my life when from a females point of view, the house looks at least as good as the shop does.

At least she is ok with letting you build the shop! I work on the house to keep her happy, and she won't get upset when I buy a new toolbox...a new tool...a new rusty car.... LOL:thumbup:

Hey dougmac:

I have read your whole thread here and enjoyed every post. You have been a great guy to share the plans with others. The way you set that shop in your yard really made sense.

May I say you are right on point here and a very wise man. "If moms not happy no ones happy."

She said: "When this house is remodeled you can do anything you want with your shop."

I said: "Can I get that in writing, dear?" :bounce:

Nice Place. Love the look and feel of it.
My Father had cold and hot outdoor Faucet.
I was used to it growing up and took it for granted.
His were set up side by side (about 10" apart)
with a "Y" hose fitting that fed one hose on a reel.
Man it was great washing cars on a chilly day!!!

Nice shed ! Don't call it a 'Man Cave' that's so lame....think about it MAN - - CAVE.
A cave is a dirty hole in the ground...sometimes made pretty by the growth of green mould and ferns....Not like your shed at all. So it's obvious that you aren't a Girl or a Boy so why do people have to call their places "Man Caves" ? My shed is just that and women don't like to be there so it's my shed. Not a friggin cave ! ha ha ha ha !

Oh ... you don't understand.... the building has nothing to do with it. Its called the cave because that is where the caveman hangs out!! If you have ever seen the stand up show "Defending the Caveman" it would all make sense....

The show is hilarious! Here is a link to the shows site:

I really like your garage. the wife was very wise in her requests to have the garage not overpower the house, from the front it does not look like an addition. from the back Wow that is really cool how you built it into the side of your land. I am not sure how much privacy you have back there but at least your doors aren't open to the front of the house when people drive up. Nice colors and very well thought out like everyone else as said.
