I really like the MC bench grinder, it has quite a bit of torque and the built in lights are nice... I haven't had any issues and it gets used quite a bit, I have a buffing wheel on one side that works great.

I'll be buying those Maximum impact bolt removers.. I never knew they existed until this forum.. And I missed the sale a few weeks back.
They are on my Sales alert on Ct.ca

Other than that I am not sure.. I should complete the sets of wrenches that I have started, ratcheting, etc...

But I prefer to wait for sales if I can.

One of the CT's in my area has the MC MX impact stripped nut/bolt removers on for in store price/manager special price of $29.97 (reg $69.99)
If you go in your nearest CT and tell them "Bedford,Nova Scotia CT has them priced at $29.97" they can check that stores pricing and match it.

The same CT (Bedford,Nova Scotia) has the 30 piece MC MX ratcheting wrench set on for in store price/manager special price of $179.97 (reg $379.99)
Again, your nearest CT will match it.

Hey that's the store I shop at. They always have stuff on sale after xmas. I use a lot of CT stuff at work. Holds up nice even for a professional. Better warranty than snap-on so easy for me. I'll have to pop in a get a set.

They are on sale on this side of the country for the same price as well. I picked up the 18-piece ratcheting wrench set for $69 (reg $99) recently that was a better deal in my eyes. They are actually rebranded gearwrench wrenches. MC on one side, GW on the other...

New Mastercraft purchase!

Mastercraft 4 piece 1/2" flip impact socket set,metric/standard.
3 flip impact sockets (6 sizes) 1 impact extension.
Paid full price ($29.99) but for these/the price I didn't mind.

I'll probably pick up those impact bolt remover sockets when I pick up the top half of my tool chest I just paid for...
http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...p-till-chest-47-in-0581924p.html#.VPTiAObF-cQ

I've had the bottom for 2+ years, works ok, just getting too crammed. Figured I should pick it up before they discontinue it.
I put it on 12 equal payments not sure how that works, but will no fee/interest why not?

I really like a lot of the master craft hand tools. I think the wrenches/sockets cant be beat for the price/quality. I think almost all of my MC stuff was bought @ 70 percent off..

Only complaint with MC stuff is that sometimes they don't have all the sizes for particular sets.

I supplemented my MC wrench sets with 2 full proto industrial spline drive ratching wrench sets. Those cost $$$ though..

I got this set: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-maximum-174-piece-universal-socket-set-0582011p.html for 85 or so on sale. Its an entire set of spline drive sockets. I believe its these are re-branded Stanley. The ratchets are fine tooth and lock the socket in place.. Again for price, its hard to beat.

Much of their other stuff, is average quality... Screwdrivers and such..

Some stuff, Like their power tools I just would not bother with.. I'll take makita/milwaukee/dewalt over them every day of the week.

I've got the King Canada 8 inch bench grinder. Its 7 amps, and ball bearing instead of of 4.8 and sleeves/bushings. Also it was a better price...

Vise isn't to bad for light duty,i broke the pads on my first, they don't carry just the pads had to bring the whole vise in and they gave me a new one, new one has only been used to hold things i was welding so its covered in spatter, haven't clamped anything in this one yet and beat on it.

I picked up the last IR 2100 1/2" Impact wrench they had at my local store, it was the display unit so got it for about 55% off the $229.00 price.

I also got a 28 piece 1/2" impact socket set $39.99 IIRC and a 50ft 3/8" air hose with hand reel for $29.99.

I have my share of MC/MX hand tools.

1/2" & 3/8" torque wrenches, Tap & Die set, full complement of 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" sockets sets and an impact driver.

For hobby work they are hard to beat, and I like the warranty as well.

I do like Channellock pliers and hand tools so I have got most of them form CT when on sale.

My screw drivers are either Vessel for JIS screws or Wera brand for the rest.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale for the IR impact, been looking to get a good impact gun for a while and this one fits the bill perfectly.

Different Mastercraft. These are only sold through the Canadian Tire store chain.

You're thinking of Masterforce. Mastercraft is only available in Canada.

I ended up purchasing the IR right angle die grinder and the IR air hammer. My local CT did not have it in stock so I had Lowe's price match it and I got an extra 10% off.

Not sure how good the quality is but for the price I thought I would take a chance.

Hey short4stuff,did you end up getting that matching top chest to complete the set?

Yes, yes I did.. Didn't get any pictures .. yet. I have yet to get a smart phone, and don't bring a camera to work. My 8 year old stupid phone doesn't take very good quality pictures.

Nice.

IR has a great reputation and from what I know are pretty quality.
I'm sure some IR boys will chime in.

I'm going to pickup the 164 piece Stanley Fatmax Socket set, $299.00 reg for $99.00.

We need a new one for our workshop as the old set has gone walk about, was there for over 20 years and last week nobody could find it.
No point in making a big deal about it, these new sets are pretty good quality and the price is pretty easy to justify..

I know its more money, but for $80 more, you can get the 400 piece Mastercraft Maximum socket set,reg $700 for $180 (highlighted in the flyer above)
Much better deal/bang for your buck. Both offer lifetime warranty, but with the Mastercraft product (Canadian Tires tool brand) if for what ever reason you need to warranty a tool, you simply walk in to any Canadian Tire and they give you a replacement right there, where you'll have to send the Stanley tool away if you need to warranty it.
Just my 2cents.

Does anyone have any direct experience to effectively compare the HF boxes and what Mastercraft has to offer? The current price for the Crappy Tire boxes now make it potentially interesting to build Canadian Steve'O workbenches. My only disappointment over the years with CTC boxes is how shallow they are (~18") and the drawer capacity is terrible.

Thanks in advance,

-P

Im Canadian so cant comment on the HF box.As im sure you know, theres mixed reviews on the HF box as with the Mastercraft boxes.Everyone standard on whats quality and whats not is different.
I have the complete Mastercraft Maximum 56" box,its filled pretty good, and for $1000+tax,its very good.My only gripe on the Mastercraft Maximum boxes if i had one would be,as you mentioned, the shallower front-back (18")
