Update! All moved in, it was a disaster with the snow/ice storm we had at the same time. With having to unpack and move **** around the house, I finally got a little time to work on the garage! Here's some progress pics so far! Still have a lot to do.

Wow, things are coming together quickly for you. I love the little niche you have your two taller boxes in. I like the colour scheme, too. Keep the photos coming. I'd love to see one from the driveway to get a better idea of the overall layout.

Thanks! Once it warms up i'll snap a picture from the driveway. To dang cold right now.

Looks awesome, love the height of the garage, the floor, the fridge.

One question, how long do houses like this last in the USA?

I look at this photo and it all seems fairly temporary?

Nice house. Nice garage. Nice area up there!
Appreciate it! We are new to the area and have no complaints so far.

Very nice, but your fridge is too small. ;)
I agree! when we sold our last home the buyers wanted to keep the beer fridge in my last garage

I got the paint from a local lowes. The black is just straight up black. The grey is called Knights Armor. For the stripes I just used painters tape, 1.5" however the tape isn't exactly 1.5" wide, just so you are aware.

also, what did you put on your ceiling?

The ceilings came already done from the builder. They are the scraped textured ceilings.

Maybe I'm reading something wrong, but from looking at your floor plan, it sure looks like your lift is going to be a tight fit?

Have you measured out the layout in the space? Your rendering looks a little deceiving to me.

My Rendering is very deceiving. It was my first time using that software and I'm no expert by any means. I have measured and the BendPak HD-9ST will fit with some extra wiggle room. The lift is 99-3/4" wide, and I believe I have 106" of width to accommodate (at the narrowest spot) it widens out a lot more the further back you get.

But yes it will be a tight fit, but it will work. I have the 220 ran with a 30am breaker box mounted between my two tool chest. The lift is planned for the spring if the budget allows.

Here's some updates. I built a lap top mount, so I can pull up my .PDF car manuals on the TV and see them further away.

Still need to paint it black.

First project is underway! Pulled the 455 out of my Riviera for a winter rebuild. Made my first mess of the garage, trans fluid and coolant everywhere. No matter how much you drain you can never get it all out

Good looking house & garage! Congrats to you!

We have very similar tastes in cars! I like the Challengers a lot and used to have a '74 GS Stage 1. I have what's left now. :( The engine/trans lives on in my '83 Regal tho. (weeeeee) lol I also have a '67 Skylark that's similar to your Olds.

If I'm reading your floorplan correctly, outside of the nook for your bench & tv, your garage basically works out to a 20x21 duo with a 10x35 double-deep on the side? Assuming 6" construction, you're left with around 29' internal width?

I'm playing with floorplans for what I hope to start building in a year or two. Since we have very similar cars, how's that 'feel' with the cars in? Enough room between them for opening the big doors on the Challenger and Riv without too much worry of hitting each other? How about front-to-back room with the long Riv?

I want to go three-wide with mine too. Covenants limit me to size, and I'm wondering how narrow I can comfortably go to gain some depth. I've been thinking 32', but curious how your '30 feels.

Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! I love these old cars and you really don't see a lot of Buicks or Olds around at car shows, they are mainly your Fords and Chevys. When I saw the Challenger come out, I had to have it, it was so close to the retro design!

As far as the garage, the only issue I have with opening doors is the pole, on the 2 bay side there is plenty of room in between the cars and the wall, I have no issues.

I have plenty of work space in the 3rd bay, and 1/4 or the 2nd bay to really move around, I love it. To me the 30ft bay is plenty, and I have a huge car in there also, those Riviera's aren't small cars, and still am able to move around with no issues. As always no space is ever big enough and I would love to have more, but this is about as big as we could go without having to re-design the house, costing more $$.

Good luck buddy!

Thanks for the info! Now I have some more thinking to do...

I just noticed I missed saying my '74 was a Riviera. I'm very familiar with the size. And I noticed your Olds is a convert, matching up even more like my Skylark. I had to chuckle - Santa just brought me one of those tall thin Buick signs this past Christmas. Fits your pillar perfect!

(You can see why your garage caught my eye a bit...haha)

What do you have planned for your 455? I have one on the stand too, but it's mostly a gasket-n-paint "rebuild" for my truck. It'll stay a stocker.

That is awesome, glad there is somebody out there with the same interest as me

The motor is all original, and just this past year, it really started to leak fluids. I've had this car for 4 years and it's gotten worse every year, now that I'm settled in a house with adequate space, it's time to tear it down, replace and rebuild anything that is worn. Going to convert it to HEI, and throw some TA Shorty headers on it (too many modifications to run long tube headers), throw a beefier cam in it. Then just sand and repaint everything including the engine bay.

I rebuilt a 1966 Delta 88 425ci motor last year and threw it in my Oldsmobile, it turned out great. Except I used the wrong paint color. I used a Red/Orange, but it came out Orange :(

Here's a sound clip of the olds

Mauls,

Great looking garage and setup. Love the Buick! As far as the pole I like what you did with the sign and maybe a cool old vintage clock and a fire extinguisher hanging off of it and it would become less of a nuisance.

Also where did you get your Dodge decal? I would like to get a Chevy one.

Unacceptable. I need high-res images by the end of the day, or else! Seriously, you have a great triple there. I imagine you are the envy of the neighborhood with that stable of classics. I see your triple has a bit more width between the double bay and single bay than is customary on new houses up here. I'm amazed at how little space our builders are giving between the two. The guys with triples in my neighborhood, have to angle the car in the single bay towards the double in order to have any access to the passenger door. When they do that, they end up putting that car so close to the car in the right of the double bay that they have a hard time opening the driver door! So, they mostly use the double as a single bay. You seem to have an extra couple of feet between bays. Anyway, thanks for posting the pic. I like getting to see how it all looks in a single photo.

The Dodge Decal is just a windshield decal that someone would put across their windshield. I just simply put it on my wall :) I got the decal off ebay. It was only like $10-$15

Man that'd be horrible if I had to angle a car in the garage. I can only fit my challenger in the far left bay because of the stairs going into the house. Since the classics are huge they have to go in bay 2 or bay 3. But I have plenty of room all around to open my doors and not worry about hitting anything, as long as I am careful.

Thanks! The pliers rack is made by a company called Plyworkx. I got mine off Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DZLMFI/?tag=atomicindus08-20

You can cut the rack to what ever size you need. I used the smaller piece I cut off for my chisels and hammers.

Sick space!! "Impressive" isn't close to describing the ratio of size-of-work-area vs. awesome cars/projects going on in there... and it looks too nice to do that kind of work
:)

Please keep up the progress pics of that beautiful monster 455!
