Do either the M12 or M18 Right Angle Impact Drivers accept bits LONGER than 1"? All I can find is that they take 1" bits. Hoping, provided there is room for it, that they'll accept the hex to square socket adapters in case my 1/4 Impact Wrench (2452) can't fit. Even with the 2-3" length of those adapters it should be shorter than a 2452. I already have both the M12 1/4 and 3/8 ratchets but the impact driver has about double the torque. I prefer the right angle impact driver to the right angle impact wrench because I will still be able to drive screws and drill holes in those confined places.

I realize I have other options with the tools I already own, but it's been two weeks since my last M12/M18 purchase and I want something! (Not counting the two hoodies I ordered yesterday...not tools)Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Sure..they will take any standard 1/4" hex shank bit, nut driver or socket adapter. It's really neat that a one inch bit like PH2 for example (has to have the line around it) will lock in the collet and still leave enough tip to drive screws flush to surface. My 2462 M12 is great like that for setting sheetrock screws.

I have really been wanting a set of socket adapters that fits sockets as close to the collar as possible. Apex if I remember right offers some really short adapters like that but to source a couple was fairly cost prohibitive...at least for me anyways.

I even once directed a message to Milwaukee Tool asking them to create such a set of close fitting 1/4 hex shanked socket adapters for collet style impact drivers. Haven't seen nothing yet :D

Just as an FYI the Milwaukee Shockwave adapters are shorter than some of the others.

Thanks DFB. I appreciate that info. Shorter adapters would be nice and that's what I'm going to look for.

Yep I was just looking for a socket w 1/4" hex shank....found one but really long hex. My tentative plan is to chop it down and re-groove in the lathe.

These cheap little Tekton's are about the shortest length shallow nutsetters one piece you can get

Just an 1-1/2" from end to end. Internal depth is about 1/2" They wll work fine on most cap bolt heads that they're sized for.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007BLZ7TK/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Its tough to get close clearance adapters. Having a metal lathe be great to cut stuff down.

Anybody addicted enough to have the M4 Screwdriver ?

I seriously considered buying that online today cause I worked alot of overtime this weekend, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $100 on a -21 kit for it... I drywalled my entire house with the old nicad Dewalt 7.2 version. The old Dewalt was great. All they needed to do was redesign it to work with a lithium pack and it would still be great. Instead Dewalt came out with that assinine gyro driver and killed an almost perfect design.

Dewalt, Milwaukee and Hitachi have very similar designs on that..

I've almost bought it many times. I have an old nicad black & decker thats similar that I like, plus various tiny 4v lithium drills that are useful. Even with Zoro promos which bring the kit down to 80ish I havent done it, if they made just 1 more thing in M4 I would. Friend has the old M4 version which he still uses.

Anybody addicted enough to have the M4 Screwdriver ?

It accepts all 1" AND power bits (aka the longer ones)

I've got a line on a new 2712-20 rotary hammer for a good price. Does anyone have any experience with these compared to a corded version? I'd be replacing a 5359-21 corded tool if I did this.

I have the 2712 and it's very, very impressive with the 9.0 battery. The run time is crazy. Power to weight, I think it can't be beat. It'll destroy cement/concrete, but it'll just lightly work away hard rock (granite) when chipping. Drills through EVERYTHING wicked fast with good bits of course. Be mindful that it's not a full blown demo hammer and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'd also call it a 7/8" RH...1" seems a bit ambitious (but doable).

Milwaukee makes 1" socket adapters. They fit right in the RA impacts. They don't lock in, but they're definitely in there good enough.

Did you just put a deposit on this for when/if it comes out?

^^^^ actually to expand on my theory above, guesses:

(2) 4.0 batteries $60 ea in the secondary market: $120
standard charger on eBay: $20
2763-20: $150 on eBay maybe, $154 at some HD's
2754-20: I paid $99 on BF (this is one major flaw here, I'm basing on once-a-year pricing)
9.0 battery: $169 new regular retail at HD

So in the ballpark of what NTX is getting. As with all attempts at piecing a kit together, huge YMMV

edit: I forgot about the light!!! Apologies

Ya know my HD parking lot was packed last night after closing. I know today kicks off Pro Days but I wonder if they'll also set up the OPE end caps for spring. I mean from what I've seen in past years Pro Days is just an EZ-up in the lumber entrance. It doesn't take an MET army to set that up.

I saw someone posted the $199 MSRP earlier. Seems typical for Milwaukee to value their lighting so high, but I have a feeling there will be a lower price in the near future.

Yeah at that price its about the total of what I sell all that stuff for, so a good deal, though with a coupon its a better deal.

I concur, but again I dont think it would be 199 for long.

Look at the rocket/tower light, it was 249 (maybe even more?) at one point, now its down to 200 in some stores, possibly even less.

Milwaukee seems to do that a lot....price everything high at initial release then slowly bring the price down to where it should be. Look at the cordless nailers....349 for a 16 ga nailer? I dont care how good it is, when I can get a Ryobi for 1/3rd that price.

When the M12 stick light came out it was $80 (or more). Now $49 is normal. Even the M18 pumpkin light started at $299 and dropped to $199

Hitachi cordless 16 ga is right up there in price too in price Acme sent a link this morning for 10% off still over $300 for a kit

It's like top end or low end

I watched AvE take apart the Ryobi cordless a while ago...lots of parts

I wonder if he ever got it to work again?

When I left off watching he was asking for suggestions! :D

MSRP $199

Where are you getting this info from?

If that's true that's a bit much.. The comparable Snap-On model (obviously the inspiration for this) isnt even that much as a bare tool.. it's only $167 online, and $185 for their skittle green version - so I'd expect the Milwaukee to be more like $129 as a -20 model..

https://store.snapon.com/Flashlights-Rechargeable-LED-Cordless-Underhood-Light-P819591.aspx

Obviously Milwaukee is pretty fond on their high prices on lighting.. the m12 maglite being $99 is hard enough to swallow. Their original pricing of the rocket lights and radius was absurd, but at least their design was somewhat original, and a lot cheaper then the $800 Pelican option.. But exceeding snap on prices for a ripped off model is just an insult.. will many of us still buy it? I'm sure, but really - c'mon now.. even I don't think I'm willing to spend $200 for a bare tool on that... for a pro mechanic, yes... but even the SNAP ON MODEL IS CHEAPER.. when have you EVER heard that before.. I can only hope that's a -21 kit price, or just an inflated MSRP..

Alright - I already found the alternative.. anyone familiar with the cordless Capri tools / Neiko lithium stick light thats around $40, and is pretty amazing (I have it).. they have a cordless 1200 lumen underhood model now for $80.. this might wind up in my shopping cart soon, esp if that $200 price is confirmed... I'd hate to give up being able to swap out m12 batteries, but if this is like the smaller model - then it should work corded too..

Check this thing out... I'm REALLY tempted already, cause I have the small model and it's worth every penny..

Neiko 40447A Rechargeable Underhood Work Light | 202 SMD LED Bulbs | 1,200 Lumens Max Brightness | 8,000 mAh Li-ion Battery | 2 Brightness Modes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTXC016/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Here's the matching smaller model. This is the best $35 you'll ever spend on a cordless light - I promise you.
Neiko 40464A Cordless LED Work Light, 350 Lumens, 5 Hours Run Time, 4,000 mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, Multi Purpose https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WI9585I/?tag=atomicindus08-20
