First year I didn't get myself any new Milwaukee tools for Christmas...

I don't have a cat

I feel a gift card in your future..
I was in my first cooper electric in Queens NY the other day. The place is filled with stuff you don't see in any of the Home Depot's - even the heavy duty locations..

I have a Cooper Electric about 15 miles from me... (which is close out here in the middle of nowhere. They are my local Milwaukee Authorized location... now I want to check them out.

Tell me you took some pics.

No.. it was actually just by chance we were working right in front of it for an hour. Somebody needed a heat gun, and took a shot to see if they had one.. I was hoping HOPING they'd say "only the cordless model", but they didn't have either in stock...

They had all the hardline knives, shirts, the larger hollow core nut driver sets (the hd sets have no 3/8" in them- how stupid) a lot of smaller peg hook stuff, accessories and such..

Scored a fuel 3/8 ratchet from my girlfriend. Came with a battery, charger, 1/4 adapter, and protective boot all in a soft case. Taking it to work tomorrow so I’ll be updating with a professional use review.

Stupid question - does anyone know if the Milwaukee heat gun accessory tips fit the cordless model ?

What do you guys think for my next fuel impact?
1/4 shank or 3/8? I’m a heavy duty diesel mechanic. I finish off damn near everything with a torque wrench. I have a weak HF 1/4 hex shank gun (which I love) but it only has 32ft lbs.

Do you have a big boy? High torque half. This is really good for the big diesel truck stuff. If you do I love the 3/8 compact. It is the same size as the 1/4 and a good 3/8 socket will go just about as small as you would want to use an impact for. I think it is like 200 ft-lbs. It will handle most of the things you need. Super small stuff you can use the HF for with nut drivers or with bits for screws.

Always better to have an impact stronger than you need.. if you have a high torque 1/2", maybe consider the mid torque 1/2" next.. or the 3/8.. really, you should know better than us what will make your day easier, or just what you want.. go with ur gut..

Which models 12v or 18v?

Though I prefer using sockets attached direct to the anvil best (less couplings) than using adapters I find I like the 1/4" hex for long extensions best.

I never drop the extension bar that way :D

Keep me posted on the outcome. I wondered into my local Home Depot last weekend. They have had a 1/2" FUEL ratchet on the clearance shelf for $169 for a few weeks. I looked it up, that's the new price. Well, Saturday they had it for $126. I bought it. It did not have a boot. Bummer, but not a deal breaker.

The kits are supposed to come with the boots but not with the bare tool.

Ah! The -21 kits have it along with a step down adapter but they no longer show up on milwaukee's site. Maybe those kits were first run combo kits and no longer available ?

I have an air 1/2 and the shop has many air 3/8 impacts for us. I just discovers on amazon that they make 3/8 to 1/4 hex shank adapters so 3/8 it is!

But hoses and cords are so last millennium lol.... I can't be the only one that gets seriously annoyed when I have to plug something in. I needed the shop vac tonight (I already have a cordless one but it was in wet mode from another job) and I grumbled that o had to find an outlet and then coil the cord back up hahaha

I bought a hex adapter for my 3/8. That thing runs deck screws like a boss lol. I looked at the Milwaukee ones but I wanted something that would use the really short bits that come in the boxes of screws. I found one from Grainger...(westward I think) it was only a few bucks and it uses a friction ring so any hex shaped one will work.

Edit: here it is.

Lol yeah sometimes it gets annoying but for the most part it’s not bad because everything I work on has a lot for space and at the beginning of the day I just plug my air hose in and it’s there all day. That being said if/when my air impact takes a **** I’ll be getting a high torque forsure.

If you are in a shop air does still have some advantages. Around the farm I may be in the middle of a field so I like the cordless. It is so capable I don't need the air even when I'm in the garage.

Yes - smaller, stronger impacts.. impacting ratchets.. you're not having to supply a portable power source or house Electronics or electric motors, so the tools can still be smaller - sometimes.. for now.. all that is beginning to change though... I'll go out on a limb and predict in 10 years you won't see many guys relying on air as older guys retire and tools keep getting smaller and stronger..

This is so true. IDK if you follow chainsaws at all but I am a Husqvarna family as well. Just a couple years ago they came out with a cordless chainsaw to compete with a gas top handle (small arborist climbing saw). It had a battery pack that was worn on your back with a small cord to the saw. Now the saw is powered by an on-board battery just a little bigger than a m18 9AH and it can out pace the gas that it competes with.

Cordless for me I'm most always away from both a shop and electric. Plus running out extension cords is always such a pita.

I said this before...I always like to razz my bud who owns the motorcycle shop when I'm not around for a while he always asks where I've been and tell him I'm cordless I'm mobile go places no like you can't go more than 50 ft outside the garge door with your air hose in one hand and your extension cord in the other.

Hey I did see photo of new m12 Fuel hex driver fit right in an open hand looked pretty small. Guy probably had big hands though! :scared:

My much praised 2728 leaf blower took a dump on Christmas day. I was cleaning out the shed, it was pretty cold but it wasn't running for very long. It turned off, and I assumed the battery was dead. Put in a fresh battery, it worked for 30 seconds, then sounded like there was a stick in the fan blade for about 2 seconds, then it quit again. The fresh 9.0 battery flashed 1 bar when I pushed the button, and it wouldn't turn on any other M18 tools. I put the battery in the charger, it immediately showed full charge, and started functioning again. At least that problem fixed itself.

Now when I pull the trigger with a functioning battery, I see smoke being generated inside, but no movement. I took the blower into the service center (less than 5 min out of my way on my way home from work) and the guy said they were just going to replace it, they didn't fix them. They didn't have any in stock, I'll get a new one next week.

Anybody else used theirs in freezing temperatures? I can't believe that's an issue.

How's the socket retention on the Fuel ratchet?

I've got the regular and the sockets practically fall off by themselves. Ratchet is great, but the weak sauce detent annoys me.

.

All my impact sockets are harbor freights non pro versions, if you line the pin with the hole stays on perfect but if you dOnt it is easier to take them off but so far I haven’t had an issue with that. I haven’t tried chrome sockets yet.
