1st Eservice . Called 1-800-Red. They told me the service centers actually won't swap it on the spot and they would be sending it in. So I just did the direct route instead.

I have used the local service center once. 2-3 years ago as well. Was a issue with our Propex tool if I recall. Brand new tool was around 2-3 months old. I just remember the scratches that were on the tool when we picked it up. Yeah, tools get scuffs but I should be putting the 1st scuffs on a Brand New Tool - not the service center

Doesn't mean you have to keep the rest of the package, at least if you buy in-store at HD. I believe you can get it free with th $300 kit, bringing the pro-rated price to $100.

I doubt he's seen those yet. He's probably still bouncing off the wall in excitement over the new crimper and hydraulic pump.

Those are actually splicers knives - at least in the telco world.. you can find handles with the blades broken off everywhere, from people hitting them with hammers.. actually replaced my milwaukee lineman knife with one from Jameson. I really didnt like the hard plastic handles after a little use - ESP with wet hands.. lol

NPS 2019 in like 19 days.. :)

My new manager is proving to be more difficult than i imagined... he’s killing my former smuggling supply... he’s all “by the book”.. which to be honest, at this point im not sure even matters.. I don’t even have my own truck anymore.. i went from the only guy with 2 trucks, to the guy that lost everything in the divorce.. i even have to go back to “line school” in Virginia cause i spent too much time off the payroll. Ill be the only guy with almost 20 years experience in a 3 week course of new hires.. But hey - i hear they have a free soft serve ice cream machine there.. lol

While not the carbide, I did see the revised Shockwave with 'wear guard tip' at Home Depot tonight. They had multiple lengths in philips, T20, slotted. For most people these are the bits you will want, meant for more high-torque situations. They are not as brittle as the carbide bits. The carbide bits are for lower force instances, where repeat-ability is more important, like a drywall gun.

I'm looking at swapping in my makita impact driver and drill for the Milwaukee combo for the sake of having the same battery platform.

I am seeing alot of negative reviews on the m18 hammer drill crapping out and over heating.

Can anyone tell me if the drill and combo should be avoided or are these people using these m18 drills when they should be running a rotary hammer.

The combo is 400 dollars and dont want to waste money if the drills are known junk

I don’t have one bad thing to say about the m18 fuel combo I got. I have used them hard and never had an issue. A couple times it wasn’t even the right tool for the job but it got it done. Definitely not junk in any way shape or form.

I have heard that gen 2 drills are better then gen 3. If you not worried about having the lasted impact that is only slightly smaller, I would get a gen 2. You an more than likely find a good deal with a free tool or packout if you look around.

I’m curious what exactly you heard that makes you think it could be junk.

Nothing wrong with mine & would buy again. I would say paying $400 for them is too much. Should be able to get a set for $320 or less. Either by buying the kit with a freebie & HomeDepot & returning said free item (not really free, but puts most of the discount on the large kit. & make sure to buy most expensive free item if you plan to return it), or on eBay where they are going for $300 or less. I'd sell a kit for that, but after shipping & flea-fees, I can't see someone making money reselling them.

Okay I know they come with 5 year warranty, apparently Milwaukee didn't design ventilation for the drill so its turning me off but I'm gonna try it out.

I considered the freebie idea, but one of the freebie deals near me right now is a 5.0 battery. Considering keeping it

Not the cheapest route. The value given to the battery will be $98 or so. 5s can be had for $50-65. Get the $150 light to bring the kit to the lowest possible ($290), then get a 5 afterwards. Or if you can find any, I'd get two of the new 3.0 HO compact for $99. I'd rather have that than three 5s, but again that's me.

My band saw just got delivered to my door, and my 6-bay rapid charger is ready for pickup at HD! What a awesome rainy Friday :)

I have 2 5.0 and 2 of the new 3.0. Perfect combo for me.

Sold my makitas today, tommarow I am planning a fun day of looking at more combo offerings from HD.

I might add I'm new to team red. Brought here for the HT impact, of it weren't for that I probably would have stayed blue.

I have both. Very happy with my Makita tools. I have too many to do a complete switch. I now have Milwaukee Circ saw, sawzall, hackzall, wratchet, and New string trimmer with hedge and chainsaw attachments. Both companies make great tools. You wont have any regrets moving to Milwaukee. I do wish i had only one batt platform, but 2 is not all that bad.

Not bad at all how did you come across it for 200. I know Ebay is suggested alot bit I've had very bad experiences on Ebay I avoid it altogether.

I agree suzook. I woulda have kept the makitas and bought the Milwaukee's if the budget allowed but I was able to dump the makitas and switch without taking a big hit

Clearance at Home Depot, saw it up in the overheads but it had a different sku than the ones on the floor. This had the added hackzall so I knew it was an older product. Asked the employee if I could get that and he brought it down, scanned it and had a big surprised look on his face so I knew I scored.

Idk how you guys do it. My local Home Depot’s never have anything Milwaukee on clearance. I know my stores are bad compared to other areas but damn seeing deals like this rubs it in.

Mine isnt likely to do this with Milwaukee either, but one time they did have all there energy efficient light bulbs listed for a $1 so I ended up with a whole cart full.

I ordered a combo kit last night, when I went in they didn't have the "kit" instock but the had another kit and then the free battery separately in stock that wouldve completed it. They wouldn't sell it to me for what they advertised online, they told me I had to order it. 2 different HD did this. Nonsense
