Couldn't pass up the HD special. Picked up the Fuel Driver / Drill Combo to add to my M12 setup. Going to to pick up the 1/2 and 3/8 fuel impacts next.

I'm going to pick up the 1/2" (2763) as well... but I don't know that I'd use the 3/8" with having the 1/2" and the 1/4" hex FUELs.

Score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

So there has been some argument as to whether you can get the 2797-22 for $249.99. I went to Home Depot and almost didn't even try it. I didn't want the cashier looking at me weird if it didn't work, and they took the security tag off only to put it back on. Then I remembered they had self-checkout, and I saw a Ryobi 8v cordless for $39.99. So I figured WTH.

I scanned the Fuel kit and no dice. It rang up $399.99, no discount. I scanned the Ryobi and it took off $150, so it basically took off $110. Now to try to sweeten it.

I pulled up the Northern Tool $20 off $100 and asked the guy at the self-checkout if he could honor it. He didn't know and called over the head cashier. While we were waiting I asked about Harbor Freight, too. He said the only thing he knew about it was that they didn't take their coupons "anymore." Damn. 25% off would've been damn near giving it away.

Anyway, the lady shows up, and she's obviously busy. I ask about the coupon, explain that Northern Tool has the same product for the same price, and I would like them to honor the competitor coupon. She seemed hassled at first and then asked how much it was for. I said it's just $20 off purchases over $100. She turned to the checkout guy and told him that it was fine, that he could go ahead and do discounts like that up to $50. I asked him to take $50 off then but no dice . The $20 coupon basically took care of the tax, but whatever.

Now to decide whether to try to return the Ryobi drill. My sister wants a cordless but I don't know if this is good enough for my sister. And I don't know if they'll take all the coupons back off if I return it. I guess I'll have to find someone knowlegable at CS and see what they say will happen. Oh yeah, some proof:

OK, can some explain to me how this works? I was all set to get it, but the check out person got me all confused. You just need to buy one other power tool and you get $150 or does the value of the additional tool purchase need to be $150 or more?

It looks like you bought a cheap Ryobi tool that was under the $150, but got the full amount off.

If anyone could clarify how this program works, I'd appreciate it.

Couldn't resist the urge - had to buy another one of these...

I never would have purchased this had they not included a 16' tape measure with the free tool m12 promo they were doing a couple months back... but after using it, I gave away every free HF tape measure and bought a couple more of these.

I think it was originally intended for you to buy an additional tool over $150, but their system is letting you get the Ryobi $29 radio or the Ryobi 8V $40 screwdriver.

Yeah, I was apprehensive when they first came out, but after using it, I really like how durable they are. And... the tape scale is printed on both sides.

It's all -or mostly- explained in Hot Deals

I just can't get to where I love the Milwaukee tapes. Too bulky for a 25' and 16' is too short. I actually cut the upper "wings" off the end hook too because they get in the way more than they help, at least w metal fabrication IME. Maybe carpentry is different. But tapes are personal, I understand.

Can you tell me more about your Sawzall? I'm in the market for a new one and I bought a 4.0 XP battery to use some of their bigger tools. How does it work? Is there a Fuel/non-Fuel version of the Sawzall?

I like it because you can take it anywhere. I don't like it because it doesn't come with a case.

The Fuel Sawzall is as powerful as a corded one. There's loads of videos of it which will explain it much better than I can and show you it doing it's stuff such as:

It's not a daily tool for me but I have given it a fair bit of use and it's always impressed me. I even used it to cut some firewood:

I'm thinking of getting the Milwaukee 0880 M18VC vacuum. Will it do the job for hooking up to a sander or saw to catch sawdust?

It will but will be runtime limited. I think you may get 15-20 minutes out of an XC battery. I like it for the quick cleanups and even for a quick clean out of the cars and truck. But it will blow through a battery fairly quick.

I've not handled the latest 18V offerings but the V28 was quite literally the corded version with dovetails for a battery and presumably some tweaks to the motor for DC. This made it heavy but tough.

The M12 LED work light doubles as a grill light.

Awesome! We do that a lot too. Also good on a mill table to illuminate pockets that are shaded from a hard-mount machine light.

I've never tried it exactly and I have the V28 vacuums which I think are identical but for battery interface.......but they don't put out near the suction of a corded vac. They're very useful for quick or small jobs, don't get me wrong. I just don't know if it would be sufficient for dust collection, but much of that will depend upon how well positioned and engineered the collection tube is on each saw or sander.

Thanks guys. I just have a small shed, 9 feet by 7 feet and just do occasional diy so the runtime doesn't worry me too much. I've got 2 M18 batteries anyway.

I've scoured the web for reviews and videos and even found one using it for dust extraction:

I found a helpful review on the Home Depot site:
In the picture, I've attached it to my track saw to use it as a portable dust collector, worked great for that too.

I wish we could get metric nutsetters here. It'd be a lot less clunky than the 1/4" hex to 3/8" square drive adapter I use now.

I got a set of VIM metric nut setters on Amazon, includes both magnetic and hollow shaft in each size. I use them nearly every day and they've held up great! Think I paid around $30 for the set. I've filled some individual gaps (5.5 and 7mm that didn't come in the set, as well as one or two that I lost) with Wiha singles, which are nearly identical but a bit pricier.

they sell them in europe :D ...even made here... :)

Hey Monte, any chance you could look up some models numbers for the metric drivers for us? I am hoping that MW makes a metric set of these but no luck with my Google skills. I did find the one you pictured, an 8mm. Thanks.

I did a 'bit' more digging, here are the MW product numbers for metric nut setters:
8mm 4932352541
10mm 4932352543
13mm 4932352545
These are the only ones I could find, it would be great if there was a complete set.
