I'll play........Favorite is the M18 Fuel 3/8 impact, biggest disappointment is the vac, while not horrible it is underpowered but may improve when I get stronger M12 battery. Everything else works great

How do you like the grinder? I've been thinking about getting one of them!

Which model do you have?

Heh. I had just about what you did, I was more disappointed in the hackzall than the vac. The vac does it's job as well as any dustbuster, it's not really meant to be a powerhouse. It is kinda loud though.

The grinder is meh as well, the Fuel version is much better.

Biggest disappointment is the vac? interesting... I've been eyeing the vac and saw reviews that it was a little underpowered, but I hashed it out to people comparing it to a shop vac. I wonder how they compare to normal dustbusters.

You will love the 3/8 fuel impact.. I use that one more than any of the others. It's incredibly strong for the size.

I have both FUEL M12 and M18 3/8 impact. I use the M12 most of the time, but the M18 is substantially more powerful. Of course.

Also, I went with the 3/8" M18 Fuel because, 1: it only has 10lbs less torque than the 1/2" compact, and I can use an adapter (lower profile going 3/8->1/2" then vise versa, and 2: I have the big FUEL 1/2". Just FYI for people looking at the compacts.

Pulled the trigger on my first big Milwaukee purchase, I've got some milwaukee pliers, and a corded sawzall. But i finally decided to get the tool i've been eyeing for a long time, so i rewarded myself for getting a new job at the Peterbilt dealer by buying the 2763-22 Kit (M18 Fuel 1/2in Impact) along with 49-16-2763 (Protective Boot) :p

Should be here this week sometime, it'll be my first cordless tool from Milwaukee and first cordless impact, and only my second impact after the HF earthquake 1/2 air impact

It will be interesting to see how it does in a heavy duty heavy use environment like that. Good call on the boot. I use them on all of mine and they look like new underneath when I take the boot off for cleaning.

i use mine on heavy duty stuff (fasteners over near and over 1") and it does just fine. no complaints on handling big stuff. i don't have a boot on mine, not sure if i want to get it or not, but i might considering i like to keep my stuff nice even though it gets used a lot.

this is a flywheel/brake/clutch setup for a press that we have had to tear down and rebuild about 4 times now in the last month (blame management for their decisions and not wanting to refinish things that need it or buy the right parts to fix it right). on the 1/2" socket cap bolts in the middle of a 1/2" ratchet for comparison.

the milwaukee impact has no trouble putting together all the bolts inside and the cap bolts (all the holes going all the way aroung). and getting everything apart after running for a few months or more. not to mention having the power to put a puller on that brake assembly and pulling it apart with ease. so no complaints yet except maybe how bulky it is, but i'll take the tradeoff of extra bulk vs stringing a hose everywhere.

I'm having trouble admitting that im not "thrilled" with all of them, for the way i need to use them for work. its mainly the fact the diagonal cutters have no tip on the end of them.

That irritates me too. Otherwise, they'd be perfect for snipping zip-ties off of wiring harnesses.

Anyone know why they're that way? I can't think of a situation where I needed a set of dykes to NOT have a pointed end.

By the way, I saw where you posted that they were releasing a new line of hand tools with only red handles. I was in Florida this weekend and saw them in an HD there. Flew home today, and going to check my local HD to see if they still have any of the red/black stuff I haven't picked up yet.

any of the red/black stuff thats being replaced has all been marked down and last i saw was on the clearence rack. that includes all of their "core" hand tools.. linesman pliers, diagonal cutters, needle nose / long nose pliers, electrician pump pliers, and regular pump pliers too, - these include all three sizes of each.

all of the vise grips and clamps seem to be hanging around for the moment. the notch in the old dykes were "suppose" to be for pulling nails and staples. i think it was a fatal error for them, combined with the fact they made every size only available with an angled head.

its really a shame the first generation is so innovative, almost to a flaw, like the primiary purpose was forgotton for some.. i think they are great for some work - just seems not mine, i was hoping the tips of the dykes wouldnt be such an issue for me - but even just using them for one job up in the air, i was getting annoyed and reaching for another tool to "fill in" for the underdog Milwaukee.
all that being said - the new line looks really great too. alots been changed, and they are all now more professional looking. seems any small issues have been addressed, with one exception (for me) - that being how wide the handles of the new dykes are.. for myself, its still a problem trying to fit them into an individual pouch of a leather tool holder. this was a problem for the old sets as well. they are much wider than a comparable set of channllocks, crescents, or Kleins.
im a HUGE fan of the cresecnt compound cutting linemans pliers and cutters.. they REALLY are great. seems like thay are the only set that can give you compound action AND still give you a wide jaw opening. i dont even know why im looking for anything else, but i guess i just wanna see what else is out there. i gave Milwaukee their shot - unfortunately its not a fit for what i do.

The last Milwaukee tool I bought was the 1/4" inch ratchet and the 3/8" Fuel impact wrench. I love both of them and they are getting a ton of use so far. I missed a good deal on the M18 oscillating multitool kit for around $100 with two batteries. I was like an hour late on that one. The other nice thing about Milwaukee is they are always offering deals.

i forced myself to decide between buying that and the m18 version... i went with the bigger one figuring it was more lumens and had the articulating head. it seems like the actual "lamp" is the same between both models - just more voltage and a different handle..

they did that with a few different models of lights. the worklight being one. i have the 18 and 12 version. both same lamps. and surprisingly side by side the m12 seems brighter than the m18!. probably just a difference in the led itself from a manufacturing standpoint

I'm not a Milwaukee addict, but I did pick up my first Milewaukee tool last night.

Portaband 6230, the newer model. Guy used it maybe twice, looks brand new to me! Used it 3 times already today and loved every minute of it. Wish I had it many moons ago.

I just saw their new line-up today. The grips are all red instead of the red/ black. I almost pulled the trigger on the flush point diagonal cutters.

Haven't you learned your lesson with Milwaukee hand tools already?

sometimes theres too much change with **** and they forget why something worked so well before.

the new tape measures.... yeah they look nice, they have that edgy look. theyve got a magnet in the tip. but damn they put almost 180 degrees of curve on that tape blade. which means its damn near impossible to mark a precise spot unless you have two handing your work and bending the blade over. they ruined a perfectly good tape measure to get a few more feet of standout on a thin blade, by curving it so much it becomes tougher to use in normal everyday stuff. :dunno: bought a fatmax instead, nice large blade. easy to read when it sets on its own. can hold an item and a pen in both hands and not have to bend the tape measure blade down just to get an accurate mark.

By any chance if you get any more portaband or grinder would you be interested in selling them for close to what you paid?

Also can you provide skus and maybe a copy of reciept

I'm not going to post the receipt (don't much care if anyone believes me) but check the prices I posted in the HD Clearance thread in Hot Deals.
I think I'd believe that all fell off the back of a truck before I believe your story. But that only speaks to how awesome a deal that is. You lucky *******.

Ok, I'm calling these the MILWAUKEE EXOTICS 'cause they're grey market here. M28 die grinder from Australia and the GE blood warmer batteries from Afghanistan thanks to board member Toymeister. I got 2 of the batteries and they're great.

(and to the haters, regarding the "exotics" comment: I'm 50% serious and 50% making fun of myself and joking around. Lighten up! Tools are fun!)
