Let's keep this Milwaukee ADDICTION thread on track:

Old Milwaukee JobSite Radio: still works, looks tough enough

As far as the current jobsite radio - I sure wish they could design one that will both charge batteries, and run off batteries. I like the idea of the weather/water resistant compartment to stow your phone or MP3 player but I wish they could integrate Bluetooth into the radio for connectivity rather than just an audio jack.

they have one that does everything you want. its a jobsite radio/charger.. has bluetooth.. not cheap though... you can even use it as a stand for tablets to watch movies, and i believe it will charge your phone and tablet too.

heres a review from the two idiots.

Nice! didn't know that. Guess I only saw the others at HD. It is pretty dang big though. I guess that could be a pro or a con. It would be interesting to see how it sounds.

did you just get/find this? that was a black friday promo that started at $129 (i think) and ended up at $65... i bought 1 at $89 and 2 more at $65.. the battereries alone are like $129 now.

That M18 battery combo from the 150 promo is a fantastic buy and great value.

My Milwaukee radio is old school but looks like a job site radio. Sound quality was just okay and charges the V -series of batteries. The new one is really nice, has all the latest features , sounds great but a little too pretty and expensive for a real job site. Price was $229 but after some recent promos it has settled at 199 which I can wait a bit. I could see myself camping with that job site radio, the M18 lantern, couple 4.0 Ah batteries and a favorite girl.

Thread here re: sound quality

You'll see I'm in the satisfied camp, but others are not. Like most GJ threads, that one just wandered away like Towelie with no conclusion from the OP.........

oh and the radio is inexplicably heavy, I'm not sure what in there adds so much weight.

The one pictured in #1702 charges? I never knew anything about those radios. What, exactly, does it charge? V18? If V28 fits then M28 also must fit but I think those came along before V28 so would not have been built to accommodate it?

Well i'm glad this "oldie" job site radio has perked up some interest. But I might be wrong about charging. I didn't own any V-series back then. Be back =Update: Sorry...NOT a charger but RUNS off battery power

Just checked my owners manual from 8-10 years ago and it can RUN off V-series batteries and that radio is NOT a charger. Sorry for that....I think you mentioned you still have some V28 stuff.

Runs V28 Li, 18-14.4-12V Nicad

I picked up that same radio last week, paid $40, does what I need it to do. Being played for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

I cant fathom spending $200 on a radio

Picked up a 2796-23 with free battery.

Had the 2763-22, but sold it, and this is it's replacement.

Still waiting for the boots to arrive.

Kit comes with: 2763-20, 2654-20, 2735-20, (2) 48-11-1840 and the free battery.

After the thread about "Milwaukee hand tool hate" I grabbed the 6-in-1 Lineman Pliers for myself today, $17.98. Incidentally my store still has 5 pairs left if anyone is struggling to find the Taiwanese black & red handles locally - I can ship. I looked at the red-handled Chinese model which is apparently replacing them, kinda looked like a club foot w red cladding.

I was also surprised to see my HD stock the new 2701 compact brushless drill kit, although at $199.00 I'm not inclined to open my wallet.

Damn! I am loving red more and more! :rocker:

It's amusing to me that some comments were that it's not "worth twice the price of the Ryobi" 18V fan. BUT if you're not invested in Ryobi, what good does that do you? Plus Ryobi is always budget (and indeed, great value for the money) while Milwaukee is less concerned with value per dollar. And Milwaukee does have a better warranty, plus I'm guessing this pushes more air than the 18V Ryobi.

I'm not bashing Ryobi, just saying it's not a valid argument. If you wanted the best "value" in each potential cordless tool you'd have to have 10 different batteries and chargers............and where's the value in that??

I finally found a couple of those at my local HD too. They were buried in the back, underneath a bunch of other clearance items that had clearly been collecting dust. I suspect someone had hidden them.

i broke down (again) and went to lowes and picked up the re-branded NWS Irwin powerslot 8" diagonal cutters.... all i can say is - wow.... it forced me to look at what else they have in the NWS/ Irwin line - and sure enough there are 2 models of 9.5" lineman pliers.. the fishtape/crimper model is $55 on amazon - and i JUST found it on ebay for $35 shipped.. needless to say i bought that too.. i think im up to about my 5th or 6th set of lineman/diagonals to experiment with at work..

the old model Milwwwaukee's got sidelined after 2 days... i have the new Milwaukee's too - big improvment.. the handles and grips are actually really nice, and they are basically identical in design to the Kliens..

I must say, Milwaukee is making it difficult to save money. I just read about the fan and am thinking about picking 1 up sooner or later.
This addiction must come to an end.
Is there a 12 step program for this addiction?

There's a cure, at least for awhile: just acquire everything they make. I was chuckling to myself after seeing the backpack in my closet the other day; not sure I'll ever use it, but it's like a collection. I'm sort of a Milwaukee hoarder. I'm ok with that.

i have enough tools to open a small woodworking shop, AND start a home remodeling business, being able to supply an entire crew with tools. i wish i was kidding.

I just wanted to thank all you knuckleheads that post on these forums for helping me with tools. I got a Milwaukee router about 10 years ago and new the quality difference right away. I am all 100% Milwaukee now on cordless and done, if I need new tools I go wired Milwaukee, old American pre 1960, or ultra cheap throw away HF, Estate sale, etc.

Love my m12 fuel set, just used it the other day to break screws on a rusted C3 Erie Vise

That sounds familiar... Did you get all those tools on clearance pricing?

everything but the m12 stick light, which i just decided to keep.. all the stuff that was on clearence has been marked down to 0.01 so there is no more price matching and its not worth hassle and time IMO to debate over it with every store since the things wont even ring up at a convincing price.. last thing i managed was the grinder - that went down to a penny that day. after the cashier did the return, and then tried to ring up again and saw it ring up as penny - the manager tried to tell me hes was keeping it - which i said "so your confiscating a purchase i made?" and then he said he was going to void the return, and re-charge my debit card - to which i replied - so your gonna stand in front of me and re-charge a card im not giving you, without my permission? - should i call your boss or my bank, you tell me. i said i didnt expect anything for a penny - and was more than willing to pay whatever the previous clearance price was - which is what he wound up doing..... so in total it was about $500 in tools for like $125 give or take.... i have 3 items left im just returning to the store i purchased them at - an impact that smoked out of the box, the m12 bandsaw, and a sander... none of which i really wanted anyway.. the m12 stick light is really nice, so im just kepping that at full retail.
honestly ive spent so much money on Milwaukee stuff over the last year i dont even wanna think about it, and ive renently bought about 4 or 5 different sets of lineman pliers and diagonal cutters to experiment with at work, from the cheapest premium brand to the most expensive (nws branded irwins, about $100 for the pair). combine that with leather tool pouches, dewalt wrench sets, a 70" 4k tv, and a new husqvarna leaf blower i just bought today..... honestly i need a break from this place..

all i know is my cat is happy he has so many empty boxes to hide in and ambush the dog..

Here's a question for those of you that have the Milwaukee bit holding screwdrivers [the ones where the bits store in the handle]...where are you sourcing your replacement bits from? Like where are you finding the equivalent length size bits?

I bought mine for throwing in the saddlebag of my bike. At $7 each, I'll just throw them away after the bits wear out... which will be several years from now.

i think hes talking about the longers bit models.. i have the allen key, and torx models, along with the ratcheting screwdriver..

honestly im not sure youll be able to find any, unless you just buy another driver. considering they were only like $14 each thats not so terrible..

That's what I'm referring to, the torx units. And I paid $7 each for them.
