How's Milwaukee sell in Germany?

Seems like it'd be a losing battle for them to try to sell there, Germans are pretty patriotic and I'd assume there's some tariffs to make the locally made tools cheaper than importing from China.

Milwaukee used to be owned by Atlas-Copco which also owned AEG. AEG was one of the major German power tool brands, and a number of tools that used to be sold in the USA by Milwaukee were manufactured in Germany by AEG. TTI, who now owns both companies, at some point decided to make Milwaukee their high end brand, with AEG as a mid tier brand, and then Ryobi their budget brand.

You can blame the "Chicken Tax" for the Ranger not being sold here.

What's the "chicken tax"?

I've owned over a dozen Rangers and absolutely loved all of them. But after Ford built the 2011 F150 Super Crew 4x4 with the new 5.0, that gets better mileage than any of my Rangers ever did...

from what ive heard - ford built the Ranger "World Edition". its the same truck sold in every other market BUT the US - because they made it bigger, and ford feels it would directly compete with its F150 market - therefor, its not being sold here.. a ranger that size it also considered a "big" truck in other markets.

but - since dodge finally took the plunge to be the first to offer a diesel engine in 1/2 ton truck market (ford has had this idea shelved for years, waiting for someone else to test the market) you can look forward to a powerstroke f150, and cummins powered nissan titan and toyota tundra.. they are getting a newly designed v8 diesel from cummins, designed to fit into light duty, gas powered trucks.. nissan orignally considered using HINO to design an engine for them (nissan's big truck market) but it was cheaper and faster to sign a deal with cummins to test the waters. so now dodge, nissan, and toyota will all offer a cummins option, (the 1500 ram is not a cummins engine, but a diesel designed by Fiat i believe)

Their prices are similar or higher than Bosch and other common brands because they wan´t to be recognized as premium brand so i don´t think that they sell many tools. The brand name is also uncommon since Milwaukee tools were never officially sold over here before the takeover of TTI.
There are a couple of professional dealers and a big box store who carry Milwaukee here but all other brands are much more common.

Why is the Milwaukee slogan in English?
i don´t know :) Maybe because it´s a "american" brand :) ?
Maybe because there is not an exact translation which is as simple and sounds good ?

Someone posted a link to the standard sliding switch right in your comment section...
2780 is Fuel grinder with paddle switch
2781 is Fuel grinder with slide switch

This one, 2783, is the new Fuel grinder with fast motor braking action and tool-free arbor nut.

Maybe the new nut will carry over to the other grinders, or be an optional accessory, but the brake won't. That's what I'm talking about. The other models came out in 2013.

This is more of a selection expansion than whole new tech.

Are the Milwaukee tools sold at home depot ever good, or are the prices drastically inflated?

Just a question for you guys. I have started to collect some M12 fuel stuff. but i am noticing all the non fuel version going way down in price. For a hobbyist like myself is it necessary for me to buy the fuel version or would i be just fine with the non fuel version

non fuel is fine.. but dont expect to replace 18v tools with them.. i have the brushed m12 stuff, and fuel m18.. for smaller things regualr m12 stuff is just fine.. even with the m18 fuel stuff - things like the grinder dont "last forever" on a 4ah battery... they still drain down pretty quick.

Nothing wrong with non fuel. I'm thinking if you get the lower priced tools you can have more variety. I've made sure to get fuel impacts because I use them daily, but everything else is based on price!

I work on mowers & small tractors for a living. I bought the M12 cordless 3/8" ratchet and 1/4" hex screw gun little over 2 years ago. Neither are fuel versions(don't think they had any fuel tools when I got them). Since I got them, not counting the week I didn't have the ratchet because I left it at the farm, I don't think I have used my 1/4" air ratchet at all, and I've only used the 3/8" air ratchet maybe 10 times on stuff the battery ratchet wouldn't move.
I just got the M12 fuel 3/8" impact tonight(got it from cpo milwaukee for $160 shipped after a good sale and a 4th of July promo). Can't wait to try it out tomorrow at work. I know there's a lot of stuff it won't be big enough for but I use my 3/8" snap on impact for a lot of small stuff just to save time but it's big enough I really have to be careful not to snap bolts off and I think this will work a lot better because it'll be less likely to break small bolts.

Anyone have the 13" Milwaukee toolbox, the one that looks like a squarish bucket? I was wondering if anyone has one and also owns the M12 circular saw. Basically wondering if it would fit in there well and if anything else would fit in with it (a drill and impact driver maybe).

I don't have a Home Depot within an hour of me or I would go out and check myself.

Just picked up a Compact Blower!!!

Really like it...

But...

The 2Ah batteries aren't big enough...

Amazon has the 4Ah batteries available for $77.55, so I'm going to get one of those...

Question: Does anyone offer the 18volt 5.0 Ah Lithium Ion batteries for less than $129.99???

I use the M18 and Ryobi 18V blowers a lot because they're so convenient. These cordless blowers have a limited run-time even with the bigger batteries. I did notice that when using the Ryobi 4.0Ah battery, the Ryobi lawn power tools perform much better and longer...they even sound different. Lack of run-time is just more evident with the smaller 2 Ah battery.

So I finally was cleaning up the garage and figured I'd get some pics to share. Be warned... I'm very sensitive to being accused of having an "addiction"...

Bought most of this stuff on clearance, and got some pretty good deals. Of course, there's some of it that I bought at retail, like the hardware bins. But I had some HD gift cards, so that wasn't too bad a hit to the wallet. Planning to build a rack on casters, for all my new bolt/nail/hardware bins. Bought all of these within the last six weeks or so, when they first came out..

Still a few more things I need to add to the handtools, like the torpedo level, more of the locking pliers, more tape measures, and some of the new side-cutters. Bought the clamp-on meter and the DMM (both brand new, on eBay) for less than half of what they originally retail for. Bought everything in this picture within the last 4-5 months.

A lot of my M18 /M12 stuff, I bought in kits on CL, with great pricing. So I took what I needed to build my sets, and cannibalized the rest of it off on CL. I didn't see the need to include all the chargers in this picture, but I also have all of my previous 14/18v versions of the drills, impacts and circular saw. Not much market for those, even though you can still buy new batteries for them. Bought everything in this picture since this past October or November, except the screwdriver, that's about two years old.

Everything in this picture (except the smaller sawzall is about a year old, and the grinders are about two years old) is at least 6-8 years old.

A month or so ago, my lovely wife got me this as a birthday/anniversary gift. I think I'll keep her.

Then i sold my non fuel version of the 1/2" impact gun and bought this bad boy. Now I've created a new monster. I want all Fuel. I have the protective boot on the way for it.

I had the M12 as well, the hybrid pistol grip is pretty nice. It needs a dust blower really badly though.

Some people complain of blade wander on the M12 as well, but I really only used it slowly to finish cut 3/4" ply.

I think it's illegal to post a pic like that and not offer more details:lol_hitti

Saw the sign at a place called Tibbets by the house. Dont know if they going to stop carrying milwaukee or just re-doing store. Saw the sign 1130 am on saturday and they close at noon so I may be going back monday morn to get the M18 Fuel 1/2 impact.

Since you seem to be Milwaukee fans, I figure I'll ask here. I have need of a circular saw for basic work (cutting 2x lumber and plywood mostly). I already have several M12 tools and I know the M12 fuel circular saw has received pretty good reviews. I'm just wondering for the price (~$230), would I be better off getting the M18 fuel 6.5" saw instead? The price is closer to ~$275 to $300. I expect I will eventually buy into the M18 line for an impact wrench for lugs but as a weekend warrior/hobbyist, but I don't currently own any.

PM sent. I've got too many brand new 4.0 batteries not being used, selling for $55 shipped.
