I think I want a 3/8 impact. This would be my first Milwaukee so I have no batteries or charge. What is the best or least expensive way to get into the M18 world??

A lot of times they have specials going on where if you buy a tool you get a free battery or free second tool (that could be sold to buy a battery if you want that more..)
Hopefully someone else will know what the latest and greatest promo is.
My first few Milwaukee tools I bought as refurbs because the prices were so good. I've never had a problem with them, so if you're open to that then that's something else to look around for. CPOmilwaukee has them

Wait for a promo of buy a kit, get a free M18 battery. Sometimes CPO will capitalize on these promos w something like 15% off and free shipping. Those are always the trifectas I can't resist: something free, additional discount off retail, and free shipping. And yeah, I realize it's shear consumerism and retail is just made up -- but I love it nonetheless.
Wait for BF to approach. Lots of deals will be popping up and soon HD's "deal of the day" emails will start to include meaningful deals on specific kits rather than the incredibly stupid "%% off select window dressing" ******** they do the rest of the year. eg they'll offer a brushed M18 kit for $89-99. It'll only be one battery but it can be a good way to step into the platform and add batteries and chargers.

I've never had an issue with any of their refurb stuff. I've bought the M12 ratchet, one of the lights I think and an M18 drill/driver combo all as refurbs and have not had any issues. They sometimes don't look brand new when you get them, but I didn't really care
The warranty is less on some of the refurbs so that may be a negative for some people.

Got my black heated vest. I'm 5'10" and down to 150# now. Length is fine but it's built for a beer gut. No beer gut means it lays flat up front and you get a big duck **** on the rear. This is a SMALL. Nonetheless I'm probably going to keep it for wearing under other hoodies and sweatshirts.
My wife, however, loves her new 2399 women's jacket in LARGE. She had the previous Milwaukee 2339 women's in large and it was too big. She also fits nicely in the DeWalt women's jacket in Small, so you can see sizing is all over the place.
I will say that the sizing on the new women's jackets is what it SHOULD be, and she agrees. At 5'7" and 145-150 lbs she should be a Large in women's clothing.

Update on the new women's 2399 jacket: it comes w better battery holster w the fuel gauge, and a 2.0 compact battery. Not bad.

Normally I am a medium (5'-7", 145 lb.). I had the first version of the heated jacket in a large and it fit perfectly. The medium was too small. I bought a new one in a large as soon as they were released this year (old one died after 4-5 years) and it was way too big. Returned it and found a place that sold them locally. When I tried on a medium in the newer style it fit perfectly.
The hoodie is ok in a medium. Maybe a little big, but I don't normally wear hoodies so it might just feel big.

I'm 5'6 and 145 lbs. I purchased the large woman's jacket for my wife whos 5'9.75" but she's about 120 lbs. The sleeves on the other sizes were to short for her but large has a long enough sleeve for her. Of course she's pretty slim so she can still fit a sweater under it. I tried on her jacket and the armpit/shoulder area is tight for me, which is expected since I'm stockier than my wife. Everywhere else fits perfect.
My local Acme Tools smallest men size is a medium in the 3 in 1 jacket. I tried it on and its to baggy for me, especially knowing that it needs to fit relatively snug so the heating elements can be directly against the body. Hopefully the small 3 in 1 will fit a bit better for me since I'm stockier than you.

I haven't tried on the medium jacket since my local store doesn't have it on hand.
The 3 in 1 inner layer is a hoodie and we both feel that it is to big, so I dont think that we're crazy.
Now the decision for me is which one to get.
Get the heated jacket for $192 or the 3 in 1 for $217. I like the styling of the jacket way more but the discounted price of the 3 in 1 makes it quite enticing, especially since I know I will use it a lot in the North Dakota winter.

Totally agree about the beer gut design. That's my biggest dislike about the hoodie I have. That and it's too short. I think me washing it too hot the first time didn't help

I didn't try on the 3 in 1 because I felt the hood would get in the way and preferred to wear the regular jacket with a fleece or sweater underneath. Does the 3 in 1 have heated pockets?

I stoped by HD yesterday and snaged up the m12 2597-22 kit and it is great. I have both m12 and m18 tool's but sorry no pix.
No, the sweater that comes with the 3 in 1 doesn't have the heated pocket power switch, so I doubt that the pockets are heated.

Again, I don't understand the new 3-in-1's but it depends what you want out of it. I've already got a black 2nd gen hoodie in Small and a black 2nd gen jacket in Large. The two actually fit well together.
But for wet, sleet, rain, or heavy snow days I want a jacket WITH A HOOD. Just wearing a cloth hoodie under a jacket means 1) the hood can get soaked as it's not waterproof and 2) said precip just runs down the jacket neck opening. Thus, the black 3-in-1's are good for cold DRY days but not much more.
The Realtree 3-in-1 is vest (not hoodie) and jacket w a hood. There's a concept. Or the hi-viz jacket only has a hood, if you like the DOT worker look at all times.

Honestly, there's little point in a heated jacket folks. This stuff has to be touching you, and unless you're huge the jackets won't be tightly pressed against your back and chest. The warmest config BY FAR for me is my Small hoodie w a heavy jacket over it. The jacket presses the hoodie against my body, and then you really FEEL the heat.
Based only upon my new vest, I'm not sure the RipStop stuff is a great idea. It's thicker and more rigid, similar to canvas, meaning it does not readily conform to your body - that's bad.

I beg to differ. The Milwaukee jacket seems a bit thinner/less warm than a typical winter jacket. The heated function keeps me warm without the bulk of a typical jacket. I used my first one every day in winter for the last few years with a fleece underneath (would still wear a fleece with any other winter jacket). There is a substantial difference after a few minutes with and without the heat even if the heat is not directly against the body. If the fleece it warmer it keeps me warmer!
I would agree that the heated hoodie with another jacket over it would be best. Unfortunately I can't get away with wearing a hoodie all day at work (fleece or sweater is ok) and I wouldn't want the battery pack poking me every time I sat down with it. If I worked outside all day every day or out in the garage this would likely be how I used it.
Working in an office (residential designer) with frequent trips to jobs under construction, the outer jacket with a fleece works best for me.
Anyone have any issues with the USB port on their M18 lantern 2363-20? It does not seem to turn on the USB the first or three or four depressions of the button. Did I get a lemon? It seems to work indiscriminately each time. But rarely on first try. I just took it out of the box two days ago.

It seems like all 3 of you are relatively the same size. I'm 5' 7" and 160lbs (no beer gut) and looking to get a heated hoodie to layer underneath a shell for skiing or in the garage for the day. Would you agree that a small hoodie would fit the best? Based on what I've seen on this thread, a medium hoodie seems to be a bit big for our body size.
I think the main thing to keep in mind is that the heated wear should fit closer to the body so the heating elements can be directly against your body. If the medium hoodie was just a regulat hoodie, the medium would be a good comfortable loose fit hoodie. *** my regular sweaters are medium. But I know the heated sweater needs to be close so I would personally go with a small.
If you lift and have more upper body, I'd say a medium would probably be good since you have 15 lbs on us. I'm a hockey player so I have relatively larger legs.

Fuel is insane! The m12 fuel doing 18v job many times, very powerful to be a 12v system! But why doesnt milwaukee convert the jigsaw to a fuel[emoji22] very sad

Am I understanding it correctly that there isn't a jacket with a hood that's water proof or resistant? Just a sweatshirt'ish one?
I'm 6', 155lbs, no beer gut obviously.. so I wish they had a slimmer hoodie. I wear mine all the time but it's still baggy in the stomach

Haha me to! If I need a rotary hammer drill on a couple of holes, I doesnt borrow one, I buy a fuel
I have the m12 jigsaw and seriously it works great and are powerful but sounds like idle on full speed! A fuel version would be so great
