2663-22 kit on sale at HD for $200, includes two batteries and a charger.

Good deal? Or hold out for the Fuel version? I have air handy in my shop, so my original plan was 3/8" Fuel wrench + 1/2 or 3/4 air if needed.

That looks like a great deal, then buy a 3/8 bare tool and you'll have both for 359.00. If you have access to air, you won't miss a beat.

I just got a 1/2 Fuel Impact and mistakenly ordered it with the detent pin, its a MF'r to get the socket off..at least as it is new. I'm thinking of returning it, or getting a stubby 1/2 extension which it could actually use since the body of this thing is pretty huge.

Any suggestions or experiences? I searched, but didnt get any helpful specifics.

I just bought M18 Fuel hammer drill/ impact driver combo (Generation 2) #2897-22 on sale for $350 at my local hardware store (Hardware Sales in Bellingham, WA).

I needed some new bits and bit holders so I got the 40 piece Milwaukee kit #40-32-4006 on display nearby for $25 and notice there was a new flyer taped to the shelf that if I bought a second qualifying tool before April 30th, I'd get $100 off. I asked if I could come back and get a second tool later and still be eligible for the discount. The cashier said that my $25 bit set qualified as the second tool, thus I got both for $275!

I had been eyeing the driver/drill set for a couple of years and finally pulled the trigger on the newer generation version. I'm glad I did so today. I got lucky with the sale; that rarely happens for me.

Need to pick up cat hair in my room, but way too lazy to drag the big vacuum from the 1st floor all the way up to the second, simply for cat hair. So I used it as an excuse to go to Home Depot and pick up the M12 vacuum. Man is that thing just a handy little vacuum to have. Picked up the cat hair without any issues and did a good job with the floor. For $59 I'd say it's not a bad deal, since I already have quite a few batteries and didn't need to buy any to use with it.

It sure does go through batteries pretty quick though, it only gets like 30 minutes on a large 4.0 battery, and used up 1/4 of my 2.0 battery in like 5 minutes of use. However, that's not a big deal, as it's such a small vacuum that you'd only use it for small little messes, and would probably only use it for 5 minutes at a time or so. It's definitely not for big messes, the collection canister on it is very small, but it's perfect for what I need it for.

Anybody here have a M12 caulk gun? I've been looking at them for awhile and have a ton of caulking to do around the house. I thought about the m18, but after these few projects are done It'll be down to normal occasional use, plus the smaller size seems to make it more useful.

Who has one? Was it worth a hundred bucks? (amazon price)

Thanks,

Brian

Picked up the One-Key kit for $320 and the M12 radio for $50. Finding the One-Key stuff to be 'meh' so far and kind of unneeded. I do kinda want the 3/8" One-Key impact wrench though. I really need to stop buying tools for a little bit since we just purchased new windows and sliding patio doors for the house. Ugh. I'm addicted...

Anybody have any input on which Milwaukee impact driver bit set I should pick up to go with my M12 1/4" impact driver? Would like something fairly inclusive as I don't know what I'll need it for but would like to be prepared. I'm not against buying two kits if there are two different kits that would compliment each other without having a lot of duplicates. I'm also not against buying a kit and then buying single items to flesh it out.

Recently bought this kit-48-32-4006.

Milwaukee has a bunch of different kits, this one did a good job of filling my needs and so far I really like the bits and the case.

Had an interesting experience with the 2763 over the weekend.

I changed out summer/winter wheels on 3 cars. The first had the lug bolts pretty far recessed into the wheel. I used a 3" extension because it put the impact in a much more comfortable position. No issues.

I moved onto the second car with the extension still on and couldn't break the first bolt loose. This is the 1/2" monster, not the 3/8". After removing the extension, since it wasn't necessary on the second car, I had no issues. I would expect significant torque loss from a universal joint, but was shocked at how much torque loss there was with a straight extension. The socket was a thin wall impact due to clearance issues around the bolt heads. Maybe the reduced mass of the socket played a role in that as well.

The lug bolts on all cars were torqued to 89 ft-lbs. in the fall.

Best purchase ever. I bought mine to caulk my entire vacation home I resided. Osi is some thick stuff. I find myself using it for everything now though as when your turn it down to the low flow setting it gives you a beautiful consistent bead. There is always a jump in the bead when you release and go to pull the handle again. Worth every penny.

Just picked up Milwaukee's 40 piece set of impact bits for my 1/4" hex impact driver I picked up during the buy one get one sale. Now I just need to pick up some 3/8" impact sockets to go with my impact wrench. Won't have an opportunity to use them for quite a while, but I like to have them already on hand for the time I will need them.

What's the point of getting impact rated drill bits? Is that mainly for concrete drilling? I really can't see a use for them for drilling into wood unless you're doing super thick pressure treated stuff? But they're so short that I can't see them being very useful.

The friction ring seems way easier to use than the detent pin, if that's what you're asking. I just ordered a 1/2 by mistake with the pin and returned it, I couldn't get the socket off by hand.

In some models I think they have the pin detent, ball detent, and friction ring. The friction ring is the best way to go unless you want the socket to be locked on then its the pin detent. The pin detent does require you to use something to get it off.

Better is relative to the work you will be doing. The 3/8 Impact is available in the M12 and M18 models. I think the most versatile is the M18 2754, plenty of power for most automotive applications.

For motorcycles and and lighter stuff I use the M12 2453, its easy to switch between 1/4 and 3/8 sockets.

Search them on CPO Outlet, Depot or wherever you get your tools. There's 2 more digits to the part number at the end that denotes the the type of a battery included or if its a bare tool(20). If you just starting out with the tools buying kits seems to be the best deal, once you have batteries the bare tools will reduce the price substantially.

It should be EXPECTED !

The longer/narrower the extension, the more the loss. The extension acts like a spring and absorbs the impacts. Impact extensions are usually significantly larger OD.

I have the m18 battery's now so ill probably go that route. Whats bare tool usually rum for the 2754? Ill be using it out in the garage for general maintenance wont be an everyday professionally used tool.

I feel like I paid for 500 SQ FT of this.

http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2016/04/11/milwaukee-tool-to-add-nearly-600-jobs-with.html

How cool would it be to work at corporate, dont think I could convince the wife to move to WI. I really need to find a job for a company I like, bored with finance/banking, would rather work for BMW, Milwaukee Tool, Ferrari, Michelin, Monster, or any other company which I have a strong loyalty for.

Working at a company that makes cool stuff in R&D isn't all it's cracked up to be... Or almost any it's cracked up to be. You might get to work on cool stuff but they all do things that **** to their employees, they all are a drag sometimes or all the time, they're stressful. You leave depressed and disappointed a lot. Life on the big blue marble.

I really like Milwaukee, but I have some very good first hand ideas on why it would probably **** to work there.

Like a Torque Stick commonly used in tire stores when installing wheels back on cars. Different sticks have different amounts of twist that limits the torque.

Looking to take the step and get my first Red tool. Going to use around the house. One big project coming up is installing new kitchen cabinets.

Trying to decide on the:

m12 fuel drill/driver impact combo set ~ $220

m18 drill/driver impact combo set ~$170

Or just the m18 fuel hammer drill/driver only ~150

Will the m12 fuel do the job? How big of a jump from m12 fuel to m18 to m18 fuel?
