I can also confirm that the rapid charger is loud and annoying. It also gets pretty hot but that's expected I guess.

My single rapid charger is also loud. It's kind of a buzzing noise (think overhead power lines, old florescent light bulbs, etc. It definitely sounds "electrical" and not fan like.

Maybe the electrons are running around faster? Haha.

I am surprised HD does not have a better deal than the $150 promo on the 2897 at $399, they are supposedly a big Milwaukee partner. The promo is the same as last year even though in Jan the 2897 dropped to $349 still with the $150 promo and the kit price stayed there until now. Acme has their 2897 holiday promo up, kit at $349 and free fuel grinder, fuel sawzall, or free two 5.0 batteries.

HD's deal if you chose the 2897 and 2720 sawzall 399+199-150=449. Acme is 349+free=349. So the HD 150 with the sawzall is 100 more. Though the flexibility of the HD promo to use with almost any tool (I tested searchlight, M12 rover flood, and new M18 vac and they didnt work) is good, they should be running the deal on a $349 2897 kit.

It looks like Acme is running the 2897 for $399 right now.

I think I am going to ask Milwaukee about this, would be weird if this noise is normal and expected. Hopefully all our houses dont burn down.

Paging Frontierajl

Hows the new light holding up. Any slop once you set each individual head in place.
I'm going to presume each head is 1K lumens rated = 3K.

I don't really need one but.....

It's been great so far. The pole clamps are much better than the original ones and hold great. The adjustable heads stay where you point them and are nice and bright. The light is slightly cooler than my original one. I still think it feels sturdier and better than the original also. It's a nice light but I honestly think it should be cheaper than $400.

Has anyone done the 150/200 HD promo and returned just the kit like prior years yet? The vacuum would be $64 this way. I doubt they closed the "loophole" since it's their main selling time but could be wrong.

I dont think they will ever close the loophole, they would have to say no returns on promo purchases to do that. When you add to cart online it adjusts the price of each piece, so should be no problem doing that. But the new 0882-20 vac is out of stock, not sure if it will trigger the promo. The new lights 2364-20 and 2354-20 do not currently trigger the promo.

I posted this a few pages back when I got my rapid charger. Mine does it as well. I called Milwaukee and the lady I spoke with said it shouldnt be making a noise but also sounded like she had no real clue.
If you guys are experiencing the same thing it may just be how it is.

Did anyone with the miter saw have a Fuel entry promo ticket in the box? The go to website, enter code, drawing, etc. I only took out my batteries and charger, usually its on the charger, didnt see one.

Think I entered 6+ last month, hopefully I win more than a T-shirt.

Any chance one of you guys with the rapid charger could open it up and get a good shot of the top of the PCB? That sound you are describing sounds like inductors/coils whining. I wish I had one to investigate.

I went through the whole box thinking I'd find another blade and I didn't see one. I've entered So many times I stopped and still have a stack left I should submit. All I ever got was about 6 shirts and on Phillips bit with each shirt. I was hoping to at least get a marker lol.

Pretty sweet deal I got over the weekend. Spent several hours at my bro in laws new house running data and coax cabling. Was not really expecting much out of the deal, which was fine. He surprised me Sunday with the Fuel Circular saw with 9.0 battery package. That was mighty nice of him. BTW, my rapid charger is noisy as well. I thought it sounded more like a fan.

Yes I have gotta HD to match Acme, even gotten HD to match their coupons. I did get an order in last night at $349 w/ free fuel sawzall and it shipped today!

It's showing $369 in cart now...

I wonder if Home Depot would price match?

Couldn't you buy the kit get the free tool and then take the kit back? Seems sketchy but someone could do that.

LOL I saved ya $100 and now you wanna save another $15 or so after you add tax.

Haha! Not really I'm actually happy with the price from ACME thanks to you. Plus I can avoid having to return anything. For the price and no tax I'm glad I supported ACME instead of HD, I plan on using them more in the future when they have their % of sales.

Your not understanding how this works.. You're NOT getting something for free.

What they do is spread the discount across both items, proportionally across both, according to their cost..

So if you bought a $400 item, and combined it with a $200 item - when it gets rang up at the register (just say it was a $75 discount for easy math) - $50 would come off the $400 item, and $25 would come off the $200 item.

New prices would make them $350, and $175 when you purchase them together - and this is all printed on the receipt..

If you then decided to return the $400 tool - you would only be refunded $350, cause that's all you paid for it. You would have gotten a $25 discount on your $200 tool you kept. That's it..

Instead of just offering say a 15% discount across all tools, they are trying to encourage you to buy more, but there is nothing that binds you to having to return both items.. The item you paid $350 for, then goes back on a shelf with a $400 price tag attached to it.

This is tempting though, with the 9.0.

So with the 199 deal, they would spread that between 3 tools. You could buy the kit return it and get the "free" tool for 66$

Damn, wish you hadn't posted that. I bought two kits off ACME for $225 each, that would have saved me $50. Still, worth it to support ACME? Probably.

Also, weird that the saw even works with the discount. Guess it squeezes in because the bare tool is included in the list of eligible extras, just not the 9.0 kit. Sneaky...

Often, sometimes the opposite too, at the great price of 199 for the 2597 kit you could end up with it for 135 returning a free 100 item.

I wonder how many people buy the deal only to return the main kit?

Anyone want a pair of 9.0 batteries if I buy the miter saw? Already have 9.0 batteries and rapid charger.
Pm me if so and I will go pick up the saw.
