Picked up a good deal last night at home depot, was looking for the m18 octagon light and I was going to pair it with a drill set for the discount.
They only had 1 on the shelf with damaged packaging but showed 5 in stock. Well after looking for 30 min or so for another one the guy offered me the one with the damaged package for $60 :)
Also ordered a spotlight from amazon for $35 that should be here in a few days.
Still waiting on my 6 pairs of locking pliers to show up from a tool show a few weeks back.

I'm thinking about jumping on the $150 deal. Any downsides or dislikes with the 2897-22 kit? I need some tools and I'm new to the Milwaukee line but this seems like a decent deal for a higher end combo.

I think that the one key drill is worth the extra 50$ just for the torque shutoff if you are using paddle bits a lot but that kit is still solid

Okay I went into Home Depot on my travels today (was thinking about buying some 2x material to build a new garage workbench/storage unit but quickly walked away from that lousy twisted lumber) I'll get at the local yard when they open back up Monday....but on my way past the lumber racks they had a big display with 2 packs of the fine point black marker pens for $1.99 ea. so I just had to get some.

Finally! :D

Now they say they work on wet material so we will see. Just less than a week ago I was having a bear of a time making my cut point marks on some soaking wet rough cut sawmill lumber I had recently picked for apple crate repair down at the orchard farm. Just seemed like NOTHING I used that day would work...sharpie, wax crayon, carpenter pencil.

I carry one of those Markzalls every day. They write very well on dirty motorgraders when you want to leave a little graffito tag on the moldboard. I've tried it on a lot of different surfaces and it works well. They really do mark ALL. The only thing they can't write on is red hot metal. I tried marking a tie rod end position after heating it up to free up a stuck bolt and the ink just flashes off. Almost like invisible ink where you write it and in a couple of seconds it is gone.

Firworks thanks for that recommendation on the pens

Oh another really decent HD buy today was the Milwaukee Pro Deep Job Site Organizer (10 compartment) for 19.97. Some places still sell them for $30 or more.

At that price I should get 2! :D

I picked one up at that price a couple weeks ago. I like it very much. It's been organizing all my hardware for my 8x16 shed build. I might have to pick up another.

The wet dry, any coupons around?

I picked one up for my wife's transportation company awhile back. I went with HD.com for the free shipping over $45. But eBay may have decent deals on new ones, just depends on the day.

APOLOGIES if this was already pointed out, but the M12 deals w 2597 don't pro-rate. It rings up the kit $199 and the free tool zero.

I'm very tempted to jump on the Acme deal. My 18V XRP Dewalt stuff is at least 8+ years old and I am down to two batteries that are two years old already. I need to either buy batteries or a new line and sell off what I have.

Then the next question... What to get for free?!?! I'm thinking Sawzall.

That's exactly how I got started.. If you price Dewalt batteries ( it only makes sense to get lithium if you're gonna keep the Dewalt stuff) by the time you get 2 new batteries and a used lithium charger, youre approaching a kit price for some of the new Milwaukee stuff. My first buy was the gen1 m18 fuel drill/impact driver kit w/ 2 4.0 batteries refurb from cpo for $190 delivered.. It was impossible to pass up.. I sold off all the Dewalt stuff and just stuck with Milwaukee.. That was the best desesion I made as far as investing in cordless tools..

The day I was gonna make my purchase (from eBay they had a listing) they increased the price by $80. After 3 emails cpo honored the original listing price.. Now every cordless tool ive bought since then was Milwaukee..

Finally joined the Milwaukee family with the 399 kit and the fuel grinder. It's like pre-christmas.

I do construction and all of our tools are provided. We use strictly M18. Tools in sand, dirt, mud, rain, etc. and they keep on going. Where I notice it the most is when I use their Sawzall and when I am at home using my Dewalt. I bet I go through 3 batteries to their 1.

I won't buy any M12 stuff because I do have Dewalt 12V Lithium Drill/Impact that I just love.

Yea I bought the Dewalt 12v kit off amazon before the Milwaukee stuff. The "idea" was to keep a small set for light projects at home, but I wound up buying a bunch of m12 stuff anyway. It was worth buying one of the Black Friday deals just for the batteries a few years ago if you had a heated jacket. I have to say it, I do like the Dewalt grips better then the m12. The lighting is better on the tools too. I like using them, but I don't have the m12 fuel, just the regular brushed versions. They are about the same performance wise (Dewalt 12v vs m12 brushed)

The the thing with the lithium is that your getting a lot more amp hours out of a battery the same size as the old Dewalt 18v.. 2 m18 4.0 batteries get you 8 amp hrs of runtime.. You would need to buy about 5 (of the old) Dewalt batteries to get that.. ( I BELIEVE the old dewalts were 1.8 if you got the extended runtime versions)

I have some newer brushless and brushed Dewalt 20v stuff at work, they are outclassed by the Milwaukee brushed stuff I have at work too on a different truck.

I have been following this discount/return thing here. for a while but I have to say that is exactly the way they always did for me from HD (or others) when I bought something with "free" promo. The one sale price and add on was included NC :dunno:

And the time when I had a problem with HD ripping me off by substituting a different battery than the promo Customer lack of Service said I could return the whole thing if I wasn't satisfied

It makes sense actually; in the case of the M12 promo it's a "free tool." With the M18 promos it's $150 or $200 off certain combinations. Zeroing a free item is one thing, taking dollars off is different.

Is this a great deal? I've been looking at the hammer drill, impact driver and skill saw combo for awhile waiting for a deal

Ya I think its a pretty good offer. Just plugged in the drill driver combo $399 and then the fuel 6 1/2 brushless circ saw bare tool @ reg price of $199 so almost $600 total and checkout is for $448.

with 7 1/4 saw $478

Buying the brushed 6 1/2 saw its only $368 with rebate so even less than the price of the drill driver combo alone.

There is also a promo code option maybe someone knows of one. :dunno:

As for the tools...especially the Fuel products top notch :D

Getting this deal from different online vendor than HD may also save on sales tax depending where your located.
