I'm looking at my email from Acme Tools, and the product pages with the string trimmer, and it doesn't seem to say anywhere that it's a preorder. The email even says my items will arrive in 7-10 days. I know for sure this isn't available, it's kinda odd though that if I found that page and ordered without knowing, I'd be in for quite a surprise.

Thank you for this heads up! I just ordered the string trimmer kit. I have been wanting another 9.0 battery and charger. I used code MILW2016 to get $20 off $100 Milwaukee purchase. It basically covered the tax.
Thanks for sharing the code!

Thanks, I didn't know it was available for preorder yet. The code got me $20 off and a pair of gloves. I got some of the the Milwaukee 0.95 string to try it out also.

I'll be kicking myself if a better deal comes along, but with the 9AH I don't see it getting much better than $280.

yeah that was my conclusion too! just placed my order for the trimmer kit. Plus Google offered the 60 day price protection and my discover card has the 90 days price protection should the price drop

I'm hoping that the $200 off with $399 kit purchase is still around when HD has the yard tools available.

you are reading two different sections. Once you click on the trimmer/blower it says it's a pre-order and estimated ship date is January 10th. :)

I still think they'll do a spring promo. I agree $280 is good for the trimmer and a 9.0 but they'll have to do SOMETHING to push these in the early spring. You'll surely pay more than $280 but you'll get a lot more too (I predict).

I bought the tower light right away at $250 and what was the recent deal.....$199 and a 5.0 and charger? I bought the 9.0 starter kit when they first came out and now they're offering that with a Sawzall or 7.25 circular for same $$

Point is Milwaukee never offers their best deals on day 1 of any product. And I've never known Milwaukee to offer "introductory" or "pre-order" pricing. They don't reward you for getting in on the ground floor.

That said, I don't think anyone will be massively disappointed at $280 for the kit. I just don't need a string trimmer w a high temp of 31 today, and they've gotta know I'm not the only one.

The M18 Surge is in. It's very quiet compared to a regular impact driver and the power is very controllable. It hasn't seen a ton of use so far but I'm very happy with it.

I agree. I've been using mine for a few weeks now and am loving it. I was very surprised how quiet it was.

It's even a bit smaller than the regular Fuel version.

I've read all of the literature on the Surge driver compared to a standard impact driver. But does anybody think the Surge will be "easier" on bits/drills? Meaning, do you think it is "gentler"? Will bits last longer using the Surge? Milwaukee doesn't say anything to this effect in the literature.

I guess I am different. I could not pre-order the trimmer unless I have physically try it out. I don't want to get stuck with a trimmer that I don't like.

I really like to replace my Echo trimmer with the Milwaukee! But I am going to wait and see how people like it after a solid summer of yard work.

I wonder if they will make an hydraulic "surge" type impact wrench? :headscrat

The "hydraulic" drivers are not really designed to be used on large fasteners..

They way they work, they apply lower torque, but for a longer period of time on each impact.. so instead of a HIT-HIT-HIT-HIT-HIT, it's more of a h-i-t,,,h-i-t,,,h-i-t,

lower torque, but a longer application of force.. not ideal for breaking fasteners loose I suppose..

It would seem the combination of the line of work you're in, the amount of Milwaukee cordless tools and lighting products you own/use daily to do that work and how strong of an advocate you are for the durability of those tools that you would be the perfect candidate to have one of those cable cutters to demo and review. I guess by now they've probably already put it through its paces though, otherwise it wouldn't be heading to market soon.

What's the chances of bribing your vendor for something that expensive?

Honestly, I COULD prob get it.. but he just dropped off what's probably gonna wind up being 5 grand in lighting, and I don't wanna ruin a good thing.. maybe in a few months, and there is a model without that remote control that I really have no use for, so it's prob cheaper. plus your always gonna have the guy that's in my bosses ear saying "why did we need all this". - meanwhile it's the same one or two people that complain about everything else, and compete to be the shining stars in our managers eyes. It's like I literally have to say - you work on a truck with no work lights, no electricity, and complain about working in the dark - so yea - I dunno why I asked the guy to get these...

Kinda tough to say until it comes out.
I'm thinking it'll be better than the current M12 offerings and I'm probably going to pick one up.

I'm thinking the new BT speaker will be quite a bit better

I put one on preorder during the last ACME sitewide discount offer.
First time I've done that! :scared:

And hoping the price doesn't drop soon after it hits the market though! :D

Sometimes it pays to wait a bit. I just got a Tower light for like $100 less than they originally hit the market for.

Now if I remember right both the last M18 radio and brushed sawzall each had $20 price drops not long after they first came out too. But in all this time I have had a M12 radio I don't think I have ever seen that price dropped. Mine originally came with the 2410 drill for $129

Never know though sometimes you have to grab a bargain when they have it like when they had added starter kit with the old speaker for just $10 more than the bare tool was. Or when the 2360 worklight had a free 5.0 battery offer with it. :dunno:

It likely won't be a matter of price drops on the new BT speaker. They'll just throw it into a kit for free, or it'll be a free option you can choose among several. They did this repeatedly w the M12 stereo. And the M12 BT speaker.

Granted, I never saw the big M18 stereo/charger given away, though.

I just started with the Milwaukee (M12 fuel) tool line and so far I'm liking the compactness. Here's my list:

-vacuum
-Drill and impact kit with 2 batteries (4.0 & 2.0) came with free cordless ratchet
-Circular saw

*how's the power of the ratchet and impact for these 12v fuel tools? DIYer here!

This might be it for me with Milwaukee tools since I own plenty of 20v Dewalt tools.

**I might get the M12 stud finder and a 6.0 battery in the future bc my Stud scanner has been acting up the last few times I tried to use it.

I have the ratchet, it's not really powerful in the sense that it's gonna break fasteners loose, but it has a regular ratchet head so u can do it by hand and then spin the bolt or nut off with the motor.. for me, it's really just a toy - but alot of mechanics give it great reviews. All cordless ratchets are like that - unless u get a pneumatic reactionless or impacting version.

As far as the impact, The 18v is gonna be more powerful. I have the 3/8 fuel and 1/2 fuel both in the m18 platform. When I can use them on occasion, they make things easier.. it will all depend on what you're gonna do with em.. some mechanics really like the 12v, others prefer the m18.. everyone is doing different things with them, so really you will be the best judge of what will be better.

If you're the kinda guy that wants to do his own brakes, and bearings, and stuff like that the m18 might be worth it.. if your typical projects are more like lawnmower and home repair stuff the 12v is probably a better buy since you already have batteries.

I just used the brushed m18 sawzall to cut a solid 1" thick utility pole anchor below the ground line that we abandoned. Made the cut in seconds.. a 12v could probably do it , but Id be asking an awful lot out of the tool every time I had to do it.

Great input. I figured they wouldn't be too powerful. But they are great tools to have in your garage for light duties. I'm starting a farm shed this weekend for my wife's arts and crafts studio and I know these (light) Milwaukee tools are going to be very handy. Especially the light saw.

Its not really a radio, its a speaker, no AM/FM tuning. Cool thing is it is dual voltage M12 or M18.

I guess I'll pass on that then, I'd rather have the radio option than dual voltage but that's just me

Don't get me wrong, some pros use the 12v exclusively, it's just what they like. For their size they are suppose to put out decent power.. I was just trying to make the point that every tool has its place, and that a 12v won't do what an 18v can. Use your best judgement when considering what you "would like" to be able to do with them..

Mine was delivered about 30 min ago

Well thats good for you I had seen the pending charge against my CC earlier in the week but now there is no trace of the transaction.

Never received any email order confirmation either

At this point unless something changes it's looking like I got screwed here

Valid point.

I was chatting it up with local Home Depot Milwaukee rep. He said he won't get any garden tools till March the earliest.

I checked about 45 min after and it was gone (obviously given your experience). I'm not sure it ever existed, or an eBay seller snatched them all up in the first couple minutes. I get the emails around 4am, but that's 6 on the east coast.

I'm on the east coast but I always get the emails around 7:40-7:55 am. I just went back and checked the time stamps. I have my phone checking for emails every 5 mins in the settings.

Weird. All my recent Toolup sale emails ever since BF have come in roughly 4am MST

I feel like the m12 drill is more powerful than the impact. I tried to drill in a screw into a 2x6 and it only went in half way with the impact.
That's why I decided to keep the M12 Impact (with some screws) in my nightstand for convenience and when my wife asks me to do something that requires it. :D No regrets going with the Milwaukee line though.

Fuel or non Fuel? On setting 1 or 2?

The M12 Fuel isn't the most powerful impact around but it'll definitely sink screws into a 2X6.
