Right on. I'm leaning Milwaukee but a little hesitant because of 2 vs 3 speeds on the 1/2 impacts. I guess I could wait and see if Milwaukee upgrades to 3 speeds here before long.

I DO agree, and the 2763 is just to tear **** up. For the best of both worlds get the 2754 (3/8" w four speeds) or the 2755B (1/2" with four speeds) for most "average" work........unless all your work is fasteners 5/8"+ and heavy industrial or rust.

Recently on our GMT800 I found the 2754 on setting 4 (which automatically cuts off after about a second of hitting a non-moving fastener) put the lug nuts close-ish to 140ft lbs. It was nice 'cause I then just needed to swing my 1/2" torque wrench about 1/8 of a full rotation to get them all at 140ft lbs; IOW I'm just saying it got them close enough to 140 that it was very convenient and quick to then go bump each one to where I wanted it with a device actually capable of measuring torque.

OTOH if Milwaukee does update the 2763, then it (the 2763) will go on clearance at a lot of places. Still, the 2763 is big and heavy so not ideal as an "everything" impact IMO.

Got that light I'd had my eye on. I guess sending the girl a link to it while it was on sale worked :D

I can't even believe how bright this thing is--the fact that Milwaukee has one brighter than this is just crazy. It lights up my backyard just fine. The dog is sure to love it during the winter when it's dark by the time I get home (and don't have any other lights back there)

Also, staring the nephew out young, lol.. M12 drill/driver combo. He's been drilling screws into pieces of wood all day

im seriously considering exchanging my "free" 9.0 starter kit now.. im getting over the guilt.. fact is, i really dont NEED a 9.0 battery for anything - BUT i probably would not buy one again myself, so it might be better to hold onto it. im thinking of either grabbing that 7.25" saw with the 9.0 battery, but i have the 6.5" saw. im also considering the original tripd light with charger and 5.0 battery, cause i dont have that light at home - but obviously i give up the 9.0 battery..

only thing i could see myself getting later on is the string trimmer if my gas one ever died. i dunno, im gonna have to give this some thought.. suggestions??

I'd wouldn't trade it for the light. I have that one and I wish I had the newer one that runs of AC (and charges the battery). You don't always need to run the light off battery power (not every job has no power) but with that one there is no AC option so you have to chew through the batteries.

I am a plumber and when doing groundwork the 9.0 battery will last well over a day in the hacksaw. I love that!! I can't believe the tripod lights won't accommodate the 9 batteries. The things I prefer not to have to change batteries in for long periods are lights.

I so wish Milwaukee would come out with a cordless air inflator like ryobi has. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

I hate you all. I really hate you all. I need to stay out of this damned thread. It keeps reminding me that I need to build up my M18 stuff, but money is tight and I can't afford it, so all I can do is window shop the pictures of the guys lucky enough to afford it.

I'm with you TK. They just like rubbing our noses in it. I think they are spending the rent and grocery money on Milwaukee tools. I need to get off this thread also. Hope you guys all had a Merry Christmas.

Yea I have the tripod at work.. it is really nice, but I have the corded snap on lights mounted on tripods at home.. decesions decisions.....
My HD actually had 1 of the new lights, must have been a return.. it was $400.. I'm NOT spending $400 on a friggin light.. for like 50 or 60 I'm sure I could make a plug in power source built into a battery shell and use it on the original..

As far as I know, they do work in the lights.. they've said the only tool that it had an issue with was the old hex light, and they made a part to correct that..

The tripod lights have enough room for the 9.0 batteries.

That's why I said to swap the 9.0 starter kit for the 7-1/4" circular saw with 9.0 battery/charger deal. It's your best bang for the buck.

They fit no problem.

We had no power here on Christmas day for about 6 hours because of an ice storm and strong winds here. From 3 to 9 pm. Of course the house was full of 20 members of family.

I used my M12 Compact flood and M12 lantern and they worked like a champ. Set the Lantern in the middle of the living room floor and everyone opened presents and set the compact flood on top of the Fridge to light up the kitchen.

Took out my 2000w generator and plugged in a couple crockpots and the Christmas tree and we were good to go.

A memorable Christmas for sure! All the liitle kids loved it! Running around with my flashlights and Zebralight headlamps, they sure had fun.

Everyone commented on how they loved the Milwaukee lights. A Christmas saved!

Looking at the HD website and they don't list the m12 fuel combo with the free ratchet anymore, is that deal over?

Got the 2345 searchlight for Xmas. I'm surprised, it's really nice. Really the best of both worlds - the spot mode is impressive for distance and the flood mode would be fantastic in a basement or crawl space, etc

soooooo close to pulling the trigger on the 2763-22 from HD that also gives you another free XC 5.0Ah battery. I have $150 in gift cards from HD burning a hole in my wallet.

In the last couple of weeks I have added the 7-1/4 saw with the 9.0, the 1/2" Fuel impact, the jig saw, Fuel sawzall, multi-tool and just ordered the vacuum - all M18 of course.

I'm looking hard at the lights now.

I gave my corded versions of the multi-tool and sawzall tools to my son this past weekend. Next is a hammer drill and right angle cordless. Just more tools for the son I guess.

Oh, I've got a $50 Home Depot card just waiting for the next opportunity.

All the lights are pretty good.. I have most of them. Right now one of the best multi purpose m18 lights is prob the search light unless u have a specific task in mind.

Yea HD has the promotion til the 31st. It's a good deal. Funny thing is I already have 5 XC 5Ah batteries and one 2.0 as well. I could just order the bare tool and be fine, but to be honest three more 5Ah batteries is too good to pass up. I guess I'm just battery crazy

Been kinda abusing that $200 discount when you buy the one key kit at home depot. Haha. Great discounts, about 30% or more on all these tools. Paid less than $600 for all of these.

Finally joined the Milwaukee club. Got the m18 fuel kit with the hammer drill and impact driver. Used the discount towards the fuel sawzall. Picked up a 12 piece blade kit for the sawzall that was $20. Also got the jobsite backpack. While I like it I wish it was bigger and I really wish the main pocket zipper opened more. I was still able to get the charger, drill, impact, sawzall, and 2 batteries into the main pouch. Then a ton of tools into the front pouch. I need to pick up the multi tool which I don't see made in a fuel version yet. After that I'll grab a 1/2" impact. Also looking forward to the m18 blower that is coming out early this year. I really like the fact that the charger included in the kit does both m18 and m12 since it will make adding m12 tools that much easier.

I've been eyeing up the 2763, but the tool is only $200. Kinda hard to swallow another $229 for 3 5.0 batteries. Of course, I haven't priced them out yet, so.......

What do the batteries cost?

Forget what I posted above. wow that is a deal. :)

Anyone have any experience with the m12 sub-scanner detection tool? The online reviews seem to be very mixed, some people love it and other hate it. I picked one up fairly cheap on ebay and was curious if anyone had any tips or tricks for using it. Thanks.

I've got an acquaintance who's a sparky and helps me at the house when things are beyond my comfort level, and I can clearly remember him cussing that thing. If the reviews are wildly mixed I'd guess that either a) low reviewers didn't understand it's limitations, or more likely b) high reviewers with a desire to justify an expense that didn't turn out to be very useful. I think Milwaukee makes great stuff and sources some good stuff, I've heard their DMMs are good, but for something like that I'd go with a company known for such Instruments.

I've owned it for a couple years and I have mixed reviews about it myself, sometimes I like it other times I curse it.

I would second the opinion to go with a company that specializes in the device versus Milwaukee just checking off another tool in the platform.

On the 2704 hammer drill, I don’t think the chuck spindle is 1/2″x20. I just purchased a Rohm 893352. It does not fit. Now I’m unsure what size to purchase as a replacement.

I have used mine for basic stud finding duties with decent results. Our garage has 1/2" OSB and 5/8" drywall over the studs on the house wall and I was able to find them without issue. The screen displays the stud as you roll over it which is helpful too. Any other stud finder I have used over the years was a pain in the **** and inaccurate (many under $75). I splurged a bit on this one.

I have not tried finding rebar or doing anything more advanced with it.

If you want to save $200 and are just using it for interior studs, grab a strong magnet (rare earth/neodymium) and glide it over the drywall until it finds a screw head holding the drywall to the stud. Find a couple of screws vertically and you can be sure there's a stud behind it!

Not to get too far off topic but for basic stud finding the Franklin Sensors unit blows every other traditional stud finder out of the water.
