Surge kit with two 5.0s $239 or with Fuel hammer drill $319, HD pro buy of the week.

http://www.homedepot.com/b/Featured...ithium-Ion-Brushless-Power-Tools/N-5yc1vZcgdt

Damn you, thanks for costing me more money. In for a Surge kit at $239.

I was initially skeptical of the lower power numbers on paper but feedback from actual users seems positive, so now I gotta see what all the fuss is about. I'm not even a wood guy, I rarely drive wood screws. But I do use impact drivers for self-drilling sheeters a good bit.

It's kinda funny on the HD site 'cause they still have the kit with one battery at $249, or the kit with two batteries is $239. The tool alone is $149. I wish this kit had a rapid charger but oh well.

If anyone wants the hard case PM me, can't stand the damn things. I used to recycle 'em until my city got stupid and made recycling way too difficult (which was their whole goal IMO) so now they go in the trash. I will only go so far to "save the environment." But I always pry off the metal clasps and they go in the steel scrap (which actually pays me - what a concept!)

How good are the impact drivers if you use the adapter to put a socket on? I'm assuming good to tighten but how good for busting a bolt loose?

Obviously there not as powerful as the dedicated impact wrenches but within reason most 18v impact drivers and especially the Milwaukee's work pretty decent for a lot of mechanical nut and bolt removal using socket adapters. The main weak point being the adapter itself. Often it will be that part that will fatigue thru the shock forces and eventually twist and break over time. Plus using any type of extension can reduce a tools power transfer by a certain amount also.

That said in the 18v platform they can and do often handle most clean and properly torqued lug nuts found on many passenger cars and small trailers.

And the even the 12v units can easily handle a lot of smaller fasteners like with general engine work, lawn mowers, small tractors and other outdoor equipment.

There are a lot of videos showing impact driver removing tire lug nuts (or not) :D

Don't know if you have following some of the more recent posts here but its worth mentioning that battery size ah rating can make help make a difference in a tools performance also. That's documented the RTR video Ign recently posted and the same Ridgid impact driver in the video I attached was more successful in removing the same lug nuts using a larger battery in follow up video by the same reviewer.

I got the latest fuel kit with impact and hammer drill. I have the adapters but haven't done any auto work lately so I was curious how it does. Thanks for answering, that video is pretty much what I was wondering. Gonna hold off getting a dedicated impact until I try this out.

Thanks for posting that Dacan. I have been waiting to get the 2897-22 kit and it's 349.00 Is the surge a more powerful set? From 429.00 down to 319.00 looks like a better deal

If I didnt already have the v2 Fuel hex and the OK one I would prefer the Surge, while peak power is less its a better hex impact. I am even thinking about getting it and selling my V2, if I need a lot of power in a hex I can always put the hex adapter on my Fuel 3/8.

Doubt it at $239 or the $319, that would be an incredible deal.
Cool I've been waiting for a deal on this! What's the chances there will be plus a free tool with this soon?

Oh boy. I LOVE my Senco collated gun. All my batteries are 5.0s and 9.0s though... think I'll want the compact kit for two slims. Can't wait to hang drywall again :)

Toolup sale - $20 off any Milwaukee order over $100

Coupon code: CHOP20

Ends 3/1/17 @ 11:59pm

I absolutely agree...pretty much the only reason why I'm not getting the new impact now. It'd be a different story if I didn't buy a **** ton of Milwaukee locking pliers/clamps from Acme last week (will post about those when they're all in...a few are "special order"), I'd throw a few of those in the mix to make the $200. Or if they had the boot.

Speaking of which, Milwaukee needs to kick their boot production and distribution into high gear. Why you can't effortlessly order it with your new impact is bananas...

After the question came up yesterday on the impact drivers nut busting capabilities I watched several of the Toolboss videos where he pretty much tested 4 of the better known brands Milwaukee, Makita, Ridged, and Dewalt. And he seemed to have pretty fair results with the basic 18v Milwaukee 2656 driver.

Now I have the two speed version the 2657. It was an HD deal of the day -22 CT kit 1.5 AH batteries for $89 a couple of years ago.

And I also have storage trailer in the yard hasn't moved anywhere in 10 years so the wheel lugs on that were pretty rusty from the weather and generally every winter the trailer gets buried up to fenders in snow etc. So I slapped a 13/16 impact socket on a 1/2 in adapter and went at it using a 5.0 battery. Guess what...it only took off one lug the first one I tried, maybe located at the 11:00 mark. Didn't budge 3 others I put it on going clockwise around the wheel so I went and got out the 2655B which had a 4.0 AH in it. Put the socket on that and moving clockwise around the wheel once again that took the next two lugnuts off instantly.

Now I got curious and I do have a 2653 3 speed FUEL impact driver so I transferred the socket, adapter and 5.0 battery over to that and without a problem it also easily removed the last two wheel nuts just not as quickly as the "B" did So that was an interesting little experiment.

In the video he was removing 90 ft lbs pretty much like nothing and even did manage 128? on the Dodge Ram too. So I using my Craftsman click style 1/2" torque wrench adjusted up to 90 ft lbs I reset the wheel then went at it with the 2657 again with all the same setup. This time it did take all of them off after a couple of seconds pounding on each. I did only use a standard shallow socket and in the videos he was using a deep socket that might give a bit more inertia to I dunno. :dunno:

So what else do you do on nice day hey :D

I think I will have to **** it up and order 2 M12 Mag/Hardline combos and sell the 2nd Mag.

I upgraded my bar clamp inventory, got sick of my old HF ones. The 5% of my tool exp not spent on Milwaukee. Next is maybe hammers, was gonna look at usual players, now I hope HD will get the Milwaukees to check them out.

Finally got the back ordered performance gloves, nice lighter version of the demo gloves, the fingerless ones are the same type as the performance ones. Not sure why HD stopped carrying the Milwaukee gloves.

Also I am missing a new pair of demos, wonder if KC has been in my neighborhood.

I used a 2530 M12 Fuel circular for the first time tonight. I cut up 2.5 pallets and was actually pleasantly surprised. I was using a 6.0 and it still had 3 bars when I finished.

Wish so... my second pair finally got their first rips on the inside of the thumb and index finger.. honestly I've gotten them caught on so many things I'm surprised it took this long. Still using them though..

If KC sees the picture in your prior post, he will be wheeling that back to NJ. Gonna have to look into a pair of those gloves.

Bessey clamps are nice [emoji106]

For hammers, I'm partial to Estwing. I have no doubt that the Milwaukee ones will be pretty nice though.

I just picked up a pair of the straight scissors - the hype is real!

Wow WHAT is up with the CPO pricing hey

Free shipping offer (MILFREESHP) on new condition Milwaukee right now but oh boy some of the prices are higher than have ever seen them before. A few things are still ok though but very selective.

Back at the end of January I bought from them the 2352-20 18V LED on a free ship offer The light was at $59 and that was the total price to my door, Today on the website that same light is $99 WTF! And it never was $99 even new. $89 has always been the normal retail for as long as I can remember. Even the M18 flashlight is listed at $10 more than its usual $49 price.

But the 49-24-2735 M18 flashlight and 4.0 battery combo is just $79 along with free ship

Yeah thanks for this info! I just bought the driver drill combo! I was about to piece it together on ebay but this was much cheaper!

I just unsubscribed from their junk emails. I'm tired of their price structuring BS. Just last week we all get the "New lower prices" on the 3/8" ratchet. Down to $79 now! This morning I get the email about free shipping on Milwaukee. I was going to pull the trigger on the ratchet for my son. Until I went to the site and saw the price jacked back up. Screw 'em.

I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the new hammers. I almost bought a new Estwing Ultra. My hammers have always been steel

The more I'm looking at them I'm liking the new 19 oz fiberglass though.

I like mine as well. Used it a few time on a 4.0 batt to cut up some compressed mdf type boards to make shelves. The fuel has enough power for home use and not have to worry about cord or charging with a 4.0 or higher batt. I like the fact it is very light!

Next time, I need to just test cut a few 2x4 to see how it perform. I hope I will not be disappointed on the 2x4.

I've used my m18 to cut up 2x4, did awesome. I'm guessing this is an m12?

The M12 handles 2x4 fine as long as you don't push it too hard. I use mine mainly for sheet goods but it can handle bigger stock ok.

Here is a full list of things I have thought about buying from the Milwaukee m12 and m18 lineups. I get confused when people talk in part numbers so I added them beside each tool.

I have the bare tool cost if the item doesn't come with a case. I know some people don't like the case but they are great for me. The price isn't the lowest available, it's just what I found easy on Home Depot or CPO.

I haven't had time to get m12 prices yet but will hopefully do that soon.

Everything I have underlined I am more seriously thinking about getting and everything highlighted is what I have so far. I also have some other Milwaukee hand tools, brushed versions of things, and the lower Milwaukee box. I haven't been lucky enough to get a cheap top yet.

I figured since I wrote it out I could share on here if other people were needed part numbers and to show my addiction as well.

I still have a Ni Cad 8v HF 5 3/8" saw I mainly use it up at the orchard. The overall size and weight of saws like that make it a perfect fit for maintenance of the hundreds of wooden harvest crates I have to constantly repair each season.

I have to believe the Milwaukee M12 fuel would be superior in every way

Eventually will have one...

Sure be a great bare tool buy with a free 6.0 battery offer :D

Some HD's are clearancing (tool only) for $75. Even the "new" price at HD.com is $129. Not too bad.

I need another cordless circ saw like I need a hole in my head, but if I could find it at 75.00 Id buy it just to complete my set of Milwaukee fuel circ saws (already have the 6.5" and 7.25" M18 Fuels)
