Heffneil - I want to hear how the M18 multi tool works out. I am thinking a bout one for removing tile grout but worried about to much vibration in my neck. KC - How bout some pics of the rest of the Dually ?

These are back when I drove it everyday. Trying to revive it, hast been used in a few years now.. needs rear leaf spring hangers and rear tank. Have those parts and bought new rear shoes, drums, and wheel cylinders for the hell of it. Been feeling guilty about neglecting it since it hasnt moved in a long while now. wanna do injectors too if I get to them.. I must get a note or knock on the door every few months asking if it's for sale. With the price of the new powerstrokes, the old 7.3 diesel trucks seem to be gaining value..

Just for the hell of it, I messaged Milwaukee with a pic of that underhood light asking them to elaborate, and the response I got back was "check social media for updates". So I'll assume that means that they are actually planning to release it in the future, instead of just being an experimental project..

I was trying to think of any other red things I can justify a purchase on, but I'm really running out of stuff I can even lie to myself about needing..

Also, I know this isn't a big deal, but I believe Milwaukee either changed, or there are slightly different versions of the flexible wand for the original m18 blower floating around.. doesn't surprise me since Milwaukee, Dewalt's, and Makita's models are essentially the same - obviously from the same manufacturer. I got a second one for work, and I can swear the tip is slightly wider than what I have at home. I think mine is 1.25" wide, and the other for work is 1.5".. not a big deal, but that kinda makes a little difference for what I wanted to use this new one for... I'm gonna get them side by side tomorrow and check to see if my eyes are playing tricks on me..

I already stated that it's slotted for a June release

The charger charges faster so if I forget to put all my batteries on I can charge one fast. I had the dewalt 15 minute charger and that thing was super handy when the batteries were dead. Despite what everyone says the lithium batteries still die sitting on the shelf and a dead battery is a dead tool.

A lithium battery can sit for a year and still retain most of its charge.. they are leaps and bounds above the old nicads

Just got the M18 Lantern 2363-20 for $39 ($64 clearance + $25 coupon). Check your HD's clearance section if you don't see it in the Milwaukee isle.

Whered you find that? I can't even find anything online about any new tools slotted to the second half of 2016.

You won't find any information online about it, but I got the info and the pic from a trusted source. I haven't gotten any word as far as price yet.

I bought my wife a heated jacked for Christmas and that got me looking at the M12 line. The recent sale for the Fuel hammer drill and impact diver and the need to do some overhead work convinced me to get it. Very nice set and I really like how light they are!

My cordless stuff at home has really proven its worth the last few days.. Really nice to not have to drag extension cords around to grind bolt heads off. The fuel grinder was great, and the little m12 rotary tool was able to cut a bolt in half that nothing else would reach.. this is exactly why I bought this stuff - to make life easier when the occasional headache comes around..

The mid torque is great when it can break stuff free, but I've had to resort to the big guy for a few things still.. betting it will do alot better on the small suspension stuff..

Guys I used my surge today and I have to say even set on low it has TOO much power. I was doing a job and stripped out the drywall anchors. I know it was too much driver for a drywall anchor but I was disappointed it was so strong. The other problem is that there is only one light under the bit. My little dewalt 12v driver has three lights all around the end. I have to say I find this a better configuration for lighting up what I am working on...

My surge on 1 is very slow and tame. Use it to put on plastic face plates for switches and receptacles without issue. Can't feel any torque through it however, have to watch it.

Agree on the light. I also have a 12 max and its superb in that respect. Can't say it's better in any other respect.

I hear that. Have to remind myself to show my old Holeshooter some love once in a while after upgrading my cordless drill driver to the M18 Fuel. I'm spoiled with torque.

I have to say that I absolutely love my mid torque impact. It fits the bill perfectly for a cordless impact. For the heavy duty stuff (which really used to be 3/4 drive impact territory) I'll just break out the 2235. This was exactly the cordless impact I have been waiting for.

My only gripe with it is that I wish setting 1 was a bit faster with a bit more torque. That would be the perfect setting then to snug up lug nuts before getting the torque wrench. It still works for that, I just wish for a little more speed and torque.

So I have Mondays off right now because they are my wife's clinical day at the hospital this semester. She's gone 13+ hours so I get everyone to and from school and hang out with our 3 year old during the day. More often than not her and I have a nice lazy day and I of course do my fair share of surfing GJ and scouring for Ebay/Craigslist deals.

Today though it's spring cleaning day and other than a couple cups of coffee this morning my Milwaukee M18 compact vac is the MVP. I've had it for a couple months now and we've used it alot around the house, especially as a floor vac. This morning though I have used it to vacuum base boards, blinds, ceiling fans, air conditioner filter grate, and sucessfully vacuumed behind the washer and dryer without having to pull them out. This thing is awesome. Obviously all this can be achieved with other types of vacs but the Milwaukee 0882-20 makes all these tasks so much quicker and easier.

One thing I have noticed about it though is the filter gets clogged up pretty fast and its so big in the canister that when you empty the vac not everything wants to come out. My solution to this is that each time I empty it I simply twist and pull the filter out allowing everything to fall out and for the 1st time today I took some extra time to run one of my seal removal tools down each pleat to clean out the trapped dirt and dust. Once the majority of that was removed I just took it outside and blew the rest out with my M18 blower. It's quite amazing how much that filter will hold and equally so how much the full suction is restored now.

My Milwaukee M18/M12 tools are the stars of the show for most jobs I undertake on our vehicles and around the house. I think this compact vac has become the most used now though. My wife and our older daughters are using it daily and every time I do see why!

EDIT: It should be noted I am pairing the Milwaukee vac with a couple other vac attachments that aren't included in the 0882-20 kit. The main one being this brush which is used for the blinds, fans and ventilation grate.9d9097640c0ca3da749ed8d74059aecc.jpg

I did get an M18 Finish Nailer (2741-20) and used it yesterday. Worked great. I picked it up barely used from eBay for a pretty good price.

Does anyone have both the compact and wet dry vacuums? I can't decide which one i want. I'm planning to use it around the house for cleaning dust off stairs, vacuuming the cars and general small garage tasks. Anyone got a recommendation one way or another?

Several others in this thread who have both have stated they prefer the wet/dry due to its performance.

The two main advantages I think to the compact are portability and the ability to use it as a cordless floor vac (like a Dyson or Shark vac). It is also commonly mentioned that the wet/dry is extremely loud.

Just got back from HD, purchased the Milwaukee String Trimmer (Weed Wacker) and Hedge Trimmer, with two M18 9Ah batteries.. Time to upgrade and what better reason for the new high duro batteries?

??? Pin detent of the M18 Fuel Mid Torque 2860 .... Do you need a tool to set and remove a socket? Because the stock photos sure look like a ball detent and not a pin detent.....and if it is a ball detent, I may rather get that than a hog ring (2861).

Thanks,

(BTW, can't find one review talking about setting and removing socket from the 2860)

A true pin detent requires a tool to remove the sockets. That said, Ridgid and Ryobi's pin detent acts more like a ball detent as far as we are concerned from the videos I've seen.. the Milwaukee specifically, I don't know.. you could always buy online from HD and ship to store, so you can check it out before you leave with it..

IMO chances are you will need to use something to release it. It's supposed to be positive retention with no chance of it falling off in overhead work.

I have the actual ball pin on 2655B and even though its supposed to be tool less release it often times it depends on the socket itself and some seem to come off easier than others, especially my most used ones. Of course can be a PITA if your not expecting to fight with it, though not that big of a deal. At least there is the hole in the impact socket (imagine getting a reg. socket locked on )

The pins do seem to have changed a bit over several different tool releases and the latest looks to have a bit more taper around the tip than just a flat end cut.

I suppose you could always try to cross reference the pin part# to see if it matches up to a different model and if it did maybe you could find a better visual or review.

Overall I don't mind a pin as I work outdoors a lot with the tools and don't need to be dropping sockets in the high grass or the mud. I also have the ring on couple and a lot times again depending on the socket itself, wear or brand the fit can be pretty loose and doesn't take much to pull a socket off

But at least they don't just fall off :D

The ball pin is definitely round

The 2860 pin detent model has a faster mode 1. I guess one could always get the 2860 and order the friction ring anvil. Or you could just throttle down mode 2 by feathering the trigger. I know a couple mode 1 wacks on my 2763 (spec wise very similar to the 2861) puts me pretty close for torquing wheels to 90 lb/ft with a torque wrench. I'm surprised the 2861 doesn't do that for you...bummer.

Speaking of the anvil, I noticed the other day that Milwaukee finally uploaded the parts diagrams for the new Mid Torques and they apparently went back to the old square anvil/hammer design. The "tear drop" design is what has been used in the 2763 and the Gen 2 compact impacts, where it has more surface area contact providing more power and tool longevity. I wonder why they returned to this "inferior" design?

I had 2662 with the pin detent and it definitely needed a tool/pick/etc. to get the socket off; it was actually quite annoying for automotive use so I had the anvil changed to the friction ring so my impact gun is now effectively a 2663 (and now own a 2763 as well).

Just snapped an M18 9ah battery in it, went out and cut back the "small" growth on my bushes. A bit large so it will take some getting use to, vs the smaller (shorter) corded Craftsman it replaces, but it made quick work of the trim.. Nice maneuverability, great power and speed. Not a lot of work yet, but a good small sample. Told the wife, You'll want to trim the hedges with THAT tool... :rocker:

Also just got the 2363-20 LED lantern from Zoro... BRIGHT.... Also works with M18. Perfect addition to the weapon safe.....

Would be a hell of a raffle, win the truck and the bed full of tools.....I'd go in for $100 in tickets.
