Today when doing yard work, the blower with a 9.0, I noticed a dropoff in power when the battery went to 1 bar, was surprised by this. Put a volt meter and got readings of ~13v, ~14v, ~15v at the 3 positive terminals, shouldnt it read closer to 18v even at low level. After fully charging it was ~18v, ~19v, ~20v. Why isnt it consistent on all 3?

I only learn about how stuff I own works after I start having trouble with it. I haven't had trouble with any of my Milwaukee stuff, so my experience is with other brands and laptops. There are usually only one terminal connected directly to the negative and one connected to the positive terminals of the battery pack. The others have various functions to "tell" the tool (or charger) the condition, charge level and temperature of the pack. One laptop battery pack had 2 connections each for positive and negative, I guess to spread the load over 2 terminals.

Here's a very good overview of the string trimmer:

I didn't know it was greasable until I watched this. Very cool.

Man I have been cranking out my 2891-20 all day, I brought it to my market job today. Plugged in a fully charged M12 4.0 before I left this morning and have been playing it virtually nonstop since 7 am and it is still playing steady now down in the garage after I got back home well past 6 PM.

I will check the state of charge either after I shut it off soon by 9pm or just see if does quit on me before then.

It's been on like 2 clicks below max all day too!

Pretty awesome my boss checked it out (when he come with big box truck me and him load up the weekends market goods to go back to the greenhouse)

He really liked it and asked me all kinds of question about it and this is they guy that always hated me cranking out my Milwaukee M12 radio at work too! :D

Wow just pulled the 4.0 battery from the speaker and stuck it in a drill to check how much life was left after using it for better than 8 hrs and probably much closer to 10hrs yesterday.

Now that is a slight drawback on the speaker and I didn't realize at first...there are no battery indicator lights that come on when you insert the battery, geez even the little speaker has that!

Just a low battery light go figure. Though I like the speaker a lot this thing needs a Gen 2 revision from the get go. Most especially a way to hang it in multiple positions, along with battery charge lights that can be read by a push of a button. One other thing I notice also is that if switch to AUX either intentionally or more so by accident pushing the wrong button (it is right next to volume down) it doesn't easily go back to blue tooth status and I usually have to power off on and the recouple the BT.

So 2 lights are still showing I'm out in the field planting now so will how much longer I go with it :D

What are you guys using as the source of your music for these speakers? The radio?

I use my phone typically for my music and the speakers are so good on the new phones that there is pretty much zero need for an external speaker. I might use one if I was throwing a block party, but it is much easier to use my phone than to worry about another speaker for normal use. Battery lasts all day as well.

The specs don't say the bluetooth version. If it's not 3.0, 4.0, or 4.1, etc (maybe 2.1 is ok)., the wireless audio is pretty bad; no highs, lows, or detail. Fine for familiar songs in places where there isn't decent listening, but pure s*** if you're listening to the news, sports, talk, podcasts, or interesting music in quieter environments. You're better off having a nicer wireless earbud in one ear.

It looks like the little speaker is v4.0, this one is probably OK.

Music stored on a laptop, or phone, streamed music from amazon or radio app. Most cell phones actually have a radio tuner built in that most people are unaware of.

the reason to go with an external speaker rather than use the phone speakers is that you will drain your phone battery much faster using the phone speakers. the bluetooth speakers i use also interrupt the music for the ringing. the phone i have doesnt seem to have the same volume for the ringer as it does for the music.

I have most all CD music on a cheapie Riuzu MP3 player filled the internal 4GB and then an 8GB micro SD card. About 2200 songs all together

Plus it has FM too. So it can BT stream or use the AUX and charge it as I'm using it too. I like what I got if I need to get another now they have some models with 16GB. My phone is free for work calls and texting

Most FM Radio to me is a nuisance and nothing but commercial sh*t plus reception is terribly limited at the orchard and my home because of all the mountains. Cripes one day some summer help kids had M12 radio out on a second story window ledge trying to catch a station

I know a lot that have satellite radio instead like down at motorcycle shop and including the 72 yr ld old woman that owns the greenhouses and farm has it in her business van too...that surprised me.

I'm not paying for that. I'll just use Pandora and customize a playlist if I'm on the internet

Ear buds wouldn't work for me while I'm working and talking to customers plus they all like to hear the music too :D

My Amigos like their own music though.

Oh man this is unreal it's still playing on the same battery. But I had to plug in and charge my player already.

Just got done transplanting about 75 tomato plants and 120 pepper plants plus some squash and brussels sprouts thru a 3 cd set of Gary Allen and one Highway Men album

Time for lunch!

Oops low battery indicator light just finally started flashing...I'm impressed with the run time

I recently sold my well used makita 18v brushless set of hammer drill, impact driver, circular saw, blower with 3 batteries to buy Milwaukee M12 tools. Due to the sales at HD and a rep being there I did ok on pricing.

I picked up the m12 fuel set with hammer drill, impact driver, 2 and 4 ah batteries. I managed to get a second free 4 ah battery and bit set from the rep for free. Also through HD got a 6 ah batt free. Then I added a circ saw, jig saw and multi tool and received another 6 ah batt free. I have a battery for every tool now.

So far I really like the tools. Only things I want are the fuel hackzall and a faster battery charger. The makita 15 min charger was nice.

So far I'm not missing the weight and the m12 tools seem ok for my normal usage.

Also I need another cordless blower of some sort.

i have only seen the rep once, i had 450$ of milwaukee stuff in my cart, and all he was good for was a hat and a t-shirt.

I talked to the rep last fall in a HD store, and despite my indication I was going to buy the leaf blower and hedge trimmer when they came out, and me telling him about the other M18 and M12 I had, I got nothing.

Well, I have to say one of the Milwaukee products I am most impressed with is their inkzall markers. I have always used sharpies instead of pencils for marking cuts and writing figures down. Some moisture and they quit writing and I go through it seams one a day on some bigger projects. I bought some of the inkzall(2 pack) in Feburary. I am building a 1450 square foot addition with a full basement and a 750 garage. So it gets used every day. Yesterday after marking a lot of holes for rebar on the concrete walls I realized the marking felt was worn nearly gone. Still writing. Replaced it and forgot what a fine point they start out as. Definitely won't buy a sharpie again. The milwaukees are an awesome value.

Anyone else notice the case for the 2897-22CX kit is smaller than the regular 2897-22 kit? Still holds both fuel tools charger and 5.0 on each. Case is same width but about 4 inches shorter.

Also the new Miter Saw stand looks awful cheap, like a modified saw horse, dont know how its not less than the previous one, $199 seems like a lot.

I'm not a big Harbor Freight fan but I spent a few minutes one day awhile back checking out their miter saw stand. It was pretty impressive IMO.

I have been eying that HF stand also but I have not had opportunity to check it out it first hand. So you think its pretty decent but also should be for the price I would say. Reg price $120 I think. I seen a coupon on it for $99 though

I wouldn't spend too much on a miter saw stand unless you are looking for something in particular or need some detail adjustment. I have a reconditioned Skil unit and have never thought anything of it either way. If you're not going to transport it, Craftsman has a 4-roller unit that looks nice for keeping things from dropping.

I'm all red except for my OPE gear. Had had the 40V Yellow Hedge trimmer for about 1 1/2 years now. The new POLE Yellow Hedge Trimmer just came in. Quite nice....

After reccomendations from members on that one I was waiting for a deal on it or the red one whichever came first, its all TTI and orange is close to red.... Unless I found the Bosch gravity on clearance at one of my HDs...

I have this one and have had zero complaints. Super easy to setup/take down/move around in my shop with very limited space.

Re: M12 battery connectivity issues (which I say is "a thing"), my 2438 RAID has always not played nice w certain batteries. It'll work until it impacts a couple times then cuts out.

I had some time to play w it today and found that this battery slips down just a little (well under 1/32" I'd say) and loses contact. Another compact battery moves just as much but does not lose contact.

That TINY gap in the photo is make or break it.

edit: the retaining tabs on the uncooperative battery are not damaged and it will not come out any further than shown without squeezing both tabs.

So do you think its losing the middle connection with the internal C1 +/- blades or the outside contact blade point marked "T".

Looking at the connection points I have wonder if that little outside blade up inside the tool handle can be bent inward just slightly for a better contact.

Unless its the T terminal on that one battery that is problem

Made a 3" roloc backer pad for my M12 polisher. Ran an M6-1.0 into the brass insert of the 3" roloc.

Had to use an impact gun to break the threadlock on the oem 2" pad.

Works freaking PERFECT. $6 investment in the 3" pad.

If I had a lathe... I would turn a new adapter M6 on one end... M9 on the other.

I have an m12 impact that does same thing. Haven't tried to mess around with it yet. It's annoying
