It works fantastic for exactly what you're talking about. I mostly use mine with Roloc discs for cleaning off gasket material from valve covers, and stripping metal to weld. Also have ground off some old welds with sanding discs, and polished up an old Snap-on box coated in overspray.

It's very obviously not a random orbital, it just works like a die grinder.:dunno:

i just got one. for sanding, the only option appears to be 2" roloc disks. for a tool that has been out a few years now, i am kind of surprised that there aren't more options for attachments, either from milwaukee themselves, or from some third party.

i dont really understand the whole roloc thing. there are pads that appear to be like sandpaper, and ones that appear be to like scotchbrite pads. and there are green scothbrite and brown scotchbrite pads. i have not been able to find a discussion of what the uses are for the various types, although i admit i have not put substantial effort into looking so far.

The Roloc term refers to all of those different types. The sandpaper ones should have the grit number somewhere on them. As for the scotchbrite pads, green is the softest, almost just a polishing pad, the red are decently abrasive and are probably the most common for clean up. The brown are the most abrasive.

How's the battery runtime on it? On a 4.0 or 6.0 and while sanding? Also so it's good for weld cleanup, it fares well on gasket cleanup as well?

Upper right... 2" and a fabricated 3" roloc the polisher is in the middle top with the side handle

Do you really need the extra handle to use it?

Are the RPM's of it comparable to an air angle grinder that I've been using with roloc pads for years?

Not really... I did for some sanding ... I kind of like the handle. Think it depends on the task... pretty sure it will be like... oh yeh need the handle for this.

I use a random orbital air sander... so can't answer the 2nd part

It spins at around 8700rpm in sanding mode, compared to an pneumatic die grinder which is between 20-25,000rpm.
8700 is still sufficient though.

Thanks for posting, a local Lowes has them for pickup, resisted and only ordered 1. Lowes.com has 10% off today and tomorrow. Wish I had spare time to paint it red....

Not necessary, Not Milwaukee, but this is a good option for floating floors or hardwood. thats what it's made for. I THINK Ryobi makes/made one, but this refurb from cpo is a cheap option.. it's nice cause from what I understand, you can set it on a workbench or just leave in on the floor.. the cordless m18 shop vac would probably work good with this too, to help keep the dust down.

Cool tool but won't be able to make the cuts I need around doors and pipe and other obstructions. The plus side is I'm not buying he tools but get to keep them so adding Milwaukee will be nice. I know I can make the cuts with a jigsaw. For straight cuts I'm thinking I can clamp a guide to run the saw against.

All I know is I'm buying the Milwaukee high visibility shirts off acme right now for $29 a pair, and for every shirt you buy, you get a free pair of large Milwaukee "flex" gloves ($15).. I thought they were the demo gloves, which woulda been a killer deal.. but I'm still gonna buy a shirt and try the free gloves..

so, when you say "pair", you mean a singular item, right? when you mentioned a pair of shirts, i assumed you were talking about two. . . . .

if you are getting a pair of shirts for 29$, can you post a URL for me, cause i can't find it . . . . .

M12 underhood light and M18 fan are amazing. I do not know how I lived without them. They make working in a stifling, dark garage not just doable, but a pleasure. Got a DCT and Oil cooler installed tonight with them, along with M12 impact and 3/8 ratchet.

I ALMOST, just bought the m18 RA 3/8 impact wrench.. I talked myself out of it a few hours ago

Is brushless performance necessary with offerings they already have? :headscrat


Are they generally underpowered or is that maybe an increased run time is more desired.

I personally haven't used my jigsaw/scroll saw in ages it seems :lol: though I do have big corded Craftsman. Remembering back to the days when I have used it more I can see how having cordless one would be really great.

There is an M18 jigsaw right...so is there a m12 version too?

I always use the compact battery on the vac cause it lasts a long time, threw a XC 6.0 on it yesterday and its more powerful, sounds like a Fuel version now.

Well, the M18 jigsaw is far from perfect. For one, it doesn't have a light. Come on now! Two, the base seems wobbly-ish...not very Milwaukee of them. Three, those two things right there have kept me from buying one for a few years now. If they're going to take the time to upgrade the tool, they mine as well make it Fuel.

I know the M12 version has a light, yeah yeah...I want an M18 tool. Bah humbug :bounce:

I have the Ridgid 18V portable vacuum... it really ***** great. Doesn't last real long but is great for quick clean ups...
