I don't how money is for you but an idea besides the $550 kit at cpo when you want a Fuel sawzall is the $250 kit has a 9ah battery. Wait for a coupon. I paid $207 after 20% off.

If I did the HD deal I'd probably pick a 3rd (5ah) battery. I already have the Fuel sawzall & 7 1/4" fuel saw, lol.

How do you get the coupon code? Newsletter?

My main concern is getting the miter saw with at least 2 9ah batteries. My hope is to maximize savings or get more tools on hand.

I’m curious what the HD Black Friday sale will look like for the miter saw

The code was in an email from Acmetools actually, 4 or 5 months back.
I'm not sure about Black Friday deals, but the $600 2x9ah miter kit is on for a while.
I think it said til Nov 8th maybe so time to choose sawzall or circ or battery, whichever is a priority.

Edit : http://www.acmetools.com/
Edit: Some places send out birthday coupon codes and codes a couple times per year.
Maybe signup at Acmetools & cpomilwaukee or CPOoutlet.
Although Home Depot might be easier exchange/return.

Sent my 3/8 ratchet in for warranty repair to a local shop going on three months ago. Every time I call to get a update he says had to order more parts. A call to Milwaukee support hasn't helped even after they were supposed to get my info to district rep. Other than going there and demanding my tool back what resource do I have to get the tool repaired or at least back in my possession so can be sent elsewhere?

I think you’re gonna have to go get it. Then send it in to Eservice via milwaukeetool.com. Worst case you’ll have it back in 2 weeks.

I just bought my first Milwaukee power tool. I got the M18 2656 21L for $89 at HD. I've got the little Dewalt 12 volt driver (DCF610)which works fine and a 18 volt Dewalt drill. I got great deals on those and they've been very good tools. I wanted a dedicated driver that had a little more oooomph. Kinda ****** that the kit has one battery but it does have the light included which is a plus.

:) That's a fine deal, toolup or cpo want $119. I got the driver bare for $60. Drives 3" deck screws great.
If I also bought the light, a charger & battery the total would be $130 easy.
For batteries, I recommend amazon or ebay sometimes. The 5ah battery is heavier but for $65 or less is good.

Hey guys, I am a tool keeper at a major mechanical company and in the last year we have bought around 150,000 dollars in Milwaukee tools and the tools are great but there seems to be one common problem. The sawsall are having problems with the blade release. I have sent out roughly 38 warranty returns, and over 30 of them have been the sawsall lock mechanism. Is anyone else having problems with them?

I would contact Milwaukee via Facebook and post your experience. This doesn't seem to be normal by any means.
I had a tool disappear in the Milwaukee warranty system and contacting them on Facebook was kind of a last ditch effort. Whoever mans the Facebook page was very sympathetic and promised to look into it. I waited and waited, followed up and waited, and they just ignored me. I did finally get a replacement after four months, but it certainly wasn't as a result of any effort on the part of their social media people.

Which model is giving you the issue?

Yes I have a fuel sawsall with a broken blade lock mechanism. I don’t know when I bought it and have no receipt. I was able to find a local HD that did an exchange for me.

For me the tool was never used and when I took it out the box to use it, I noticed the lock mechanism that hold the blade broke (the blade does not lock in place). I think because the tool was never used HD agree to exchange and rtv the broken sawsall to vendor.

My lesson here is when you buy a tool and don’t plan to use it right away, you should inspect or test it out and not wait until the day you need it and find out it is broken from factory.

I don’t have great confidence with the sawsall lock mechanism now that you posted your issue.

Done.......we'll see what happens

When I posted something to their page about a bad experience, it took them a while to get back to me, but they contacted me via Facebook messenger and made it right. They more than made up for it. Milwaukee has a good reputation of trying to keep customers happy, but I think your issue is really with bad service at a retailer. We'll see what happens. Hopefully they reach out. That's one good thing about social media.

I'm contemplating what my next purchase might be.. I'm thinking the heat gun, or the m12 stapler.. the stapler I think I can squeeze in under a company purchase, heat gun would be for home.. I'll wait to see a few reviews of the stapler...

I have a feeling a gen2 sawzall is not far off.. just a guess since it's been out for a while now.

Problem with next versions/generations of M18 tools is when theres a Fuel model and One Key, multiple updates, which is why I think when a new version of Fuel comes out it will be OK only.

So the deal for the 10" compound miter and two batteries is for a free "fuel" tool. You have to find the old boxes with the second battery inside the box or your SOL on the other battery.

Still undecided if thats a deal with plummeting 9.0 prices. That saw plus two 9.0s has been ordered for for $450-480 shipped tax free, even HD had it online for $480 few times, so $640 about with tax is meh.

The OK combo back up to $499, some new stock comes with free hex flood, dk if that is eligible for free tool, even if it was its still meh deal.

I am looking at the mid torq 2860 (pin detent) or the 2861 (friction ring). Is there one in the 1/2 fuel mid torq with a ball detent? I would prefer the ball detent rather then the pin. My second choice would be the friction ring. I would be changing socket rather often and not really interested in the pin detent but not sure if I would like the friction ring. I have never used a friction ring model.
Thanks

Friction ring and ball detent are pretty much the same, in actual use.

With that said:

Only my opinion, but the friction ring is replaceable. If the ball goes fubar (have one in for warranty currently), from looking at the parts schematics it looks like the whole anvil has to be changed.

I definitely want the extra torq and smaller size of the mid torq so the friction ring it will be. Thanks for comments.

I picked up a new 10 inch miter for $375, tool only on craigslist. Not a bad deal, but I do only have one 9.0 battery.

I'm interested in the new miter stand (48-08-0551), but its kind of pricey at $199. I also see they sell the mounting brackets (48-08-0554) separately. Are these also needed?

Any deals on this stand anywhere? Maybe I should hold out for black Friday.

$375 is about what they're worth... hard to find deals on the bare tool though.

The way I look at it is: you can still get a 21HDP promo with two 9.0 batteries from HD for $599. Right now there's a Menards 11% rebate, so you'd get $66 back in a gift card. Assuming you can find something else to buy at Home Depot, 599-66 = $533. I figure about $100 each for a 9.0 battery, unless you know somewhere cheaper, and maybe $20 for the charger. That puts you at about $310 for the bare tool price with the combo.

In here for this!

I have the new brushless ratchet and it is sweet! Just waiting on the Gen 2 M12 impact driver.
What size did you go with. I'm thinking the 1/2 seems like the one for me. Most of my impact sockets are in 1/2. The 1/2 m12 has the most torque and is only slightly bigger than the 3/8.

Yeah have to agree, I got 2 on crazy deal, thought they would be easy sell at 350, took 3 months to sell them and let them go for 300 each.

Agreed. I see the batts for about $120 so $600 minus $240 is $360 for saw not counting any rebates & tax.

Hd Online special now exp 1/28/17 for some $400 kits of the Fuel impact, drill & free tool.

Example is mo # 2897-22-2731-20 I think.
After tax the impact/drill kit is $200-250. Decent deal.

what is the collective wisdom concerning storage of M12 and M18 batteries in unheated buildings over the winter, when temps will go below freezing, but not below, say, ten degrees Fahrenheit?

I went with the 1/4 fuel ratchet, no complaints so far.

Just a note, looks are deceiving. It looks way bigger than it is, it is barely longer than the non fuel ratchet.

That little guy looks like it would be very handy for assembling stuff or anything with small annoying fasteners. These Milwaukee tools are like Pokemon "gotta have em all"

I’m really kicking myself for getting the 3/8 instead of the 1/4 fuel ratchet. The 3/8 is significantly larger.
