Tell me more about converting the old 3/8" ratchet to 1/4". Is it as simple as popping out the snap ring and dropping a 1/4" drive part in? I got the new 1/4" Fuel, but it is more powerful than my old 3/8". If I convert the old 3/8" to 1/4", I could justify selling the 1/4" Fuel and picking up a 3/8" Fuel and 1/2" Fuel instead.

Its pretty much that easy. Remove the snap ring, pull out the 3/8 head, install the 1/4 head, squeeze everything together & install the snap ring.
The directional switch was being hard to change & I use the 3/8 allot at work. Was going to get the 1/4 fuel, until I found out I could just change out the anvil. For $17.65 it's better option imo, then buying a new 1/4". :3gears:

Here's the link to the 1/4 anvil.

M12 inflator but no M18 one? Fail Milwaukee. Ive been waiting for one for years. Got tired and also jumped on the Ryobi bandwagon, since they have very good inflators for cheap.

The 18" US General side locker I just got last week is gonna become my dedicated Milwaukee tool cabinet at home. I need something to put all this **** in..

Oh - and I'll post these drill holsters too.. I bought 2 of these, combined with a husky pouch and work belt from hd has become my new cable clamping tool belt for work.. absolutely perfect for working off ladders or just keep my hands free.. What's nice is the holsters are both left and right handed - so I can keep my m12 Fuel hammer drill on one side, and the m12 Fuel impact driver on the other. They also have magnetic part holders on the outside, which I didn't think I'd use, but I was wrong about that. Very helpful. If anyone does ladder work, or wants to carry both a drill and impact, and a parts/handtool pouch- this thing is great.. cheap too, like $12 a holster.. I'll post links to everything.. $40 for the whole setup.

Drill holster - $12, bought 2 of these.. love these things.. really.. the magnetic patch outside is great for screws, clamps, anything small. The m12 stuff fits great inside.
MagnoGrip 002-580 Magnetic Drill Holster - Left and Right Handed, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P9AVTZQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20
71ElRtEXHRL._SX355_.jpg

Husky quick release work belt - $5
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-2-in-Quick-Release-Work-Belt-HD335320/202311429

Husky 9 pocket pouch - $10

So basically I have a holster on both my right and left side, pouch in the middle of my stomach, belt clip at the small of my back. M12 Drill and impact fit perfect, enough room for a few hand tools, screws, plastic anchors, cable clamps, tie wraps, and has a metal hanging electrical tape holder too. Pouch is nice and wide, easy to get a hand in, but doesn't really protrude out - so it's thin enough to not get caught on things. Second pouch is not real wide, so it keeps pliers and cutters close to you. I can fit 14" long tie wraps through the screwdriver holders. Tape, and whatever else too.

Somebody actually asked me if I was sponsored by Milwaukee the other day..lol.. had on a Milwaukee high vis shirt, hat, demo gloves, fuel drill on my right hip, Fuel impact on my left, hardline knife, Milwaukee Marker, and Milwaukee pen light hanging out of pocket, hardhat with Milwaukee's hardhat light on it.. I thought, "yea, I kinda look like a walking billboard don't I".

kinda disappointed the air inflator was not a dual 12/18v like some of the radios. looks like the way its designed it could have been incorporated.

also, it bugs me whenever im looking for a tool, rigid or ryobi make it and not milwaukee even though there affiliated. also, ryobi has a lot of 'cool' home owner tools and products. it would be nice if milwaukee could at the very least just 'change the color' of ryobi tools so i can use with milwaukee batteries. perfect world milwaukee would make it and as a given be an upgrade over ryobi.

this year will definitely have 'new' batteries/upgrades/36v and lots of new tools. most will be pretty easy and just copies of dewalt. its my understanding dewalt 20v (which are ~18v) batteries use bigger and better cells and therefore have some better tools.

Agree about some of the Ryobi stuff.. bigger inflator woulda been nice, but ya never know - since the m12 is a "compact" inflator, and not just an "inflator", it seems like they may have left some room for something. Wish Milwaukee had a vac with a powered brush.

Don't put too much stock into the "Dewalt has better batteries" or better tools.. only area right now where Dewalt is beating Milwaukee is the outdoor power equipment area.. beside that one area, Dewalt has been trying to keep up, - which is why dewalt has about 5 different battery platforms compared to the 2 Milwaukee has invested in..

i too bought the ryobi pistol grip inflator last year, wasnt impressed and returned because didnt want to invest in ryobi batteries. ryobi makes at least three different inflators! thankfully milwaukee is coming out with something

was considering getting the as seen on tv Air Hawk Pro, home depot actually had it but didnt want another charger and batteries. anyone have or try?

just sayin dewalt has a couple good things here and there but no match compared to milwaukee and i think this year there going to gap them pretty good

theoretically "better" batteries, milwaukee uses 18650 cells vs dewalt 20700. new milwaukee will be minimum 20700, but more than likely 21700 and "flex volt"

Ok guys. I got the M18 to Ryobi 18v adapters from "plc268"

Here's his user page: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/member.php?u=304851

They are frikin AWESOME!!!

They fit great, they work great, I highly recommend them. plc268 said I could share prices with you as well.

I spent $35 for the 1st, and $30 for each additional (when shipped at same time). I bought 2...may get more.

I have the Ryobi fan and Glue Gun...time to get the little sanders, big blower, and ???

(The things pay for themselves with pretty much each tool. M18 fan is $80ish, Ryobi is $40... and the Ryobi stuff is constantly at the swap meet for RTV and on CL. I paid $25 for my Ryobi fan)

Here's a pic.

Thanks again plc268! (Now we need Dewalt, Makita, and all the others )

OH, nice! where can i get? rtv?

Here's his user page. Click "Send Message" and handle your business. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/member.php?u=304851

RTV is "Return To Vendor" .... everything that gets returned to Home Depot (and Lowes/walmart/ etc) is RTV.... but somehow it goes to auction where swap meet dudes buy it and slang it to us early birds.

(I still don't understand how it does NOT get "Returned" to vendor...but I'm not bitchin)

So theres 3 listings for the M12 inflator, 2475-20 bare tool $69, 2475-20P bare + 2.0 bsttery $79, and 2475-21XC kit with 4.0 $159. While that 20P may seem tempting, it should be priced at $69 like the bare tool, pretty sure it will be when it starts to ship, places have done this before to trick you into over paying on a pre order special.

Is there anywhere that has it for preorder and also is running any coupon codes? Strongly considering grabbing one to play with but a 10% or so would certainly push me over the edge.

Your understanding is wrong. First this is a thread for deals. 2nd, the quality of a battery doesn't determine the quality of a tool. Lights aren't going to be brighter, impacts aren't going to impact harder. Some might think a larger capacity increases saws' power, but it is more that it will not slow down under high demanding load.

All current battery packs use 18500 cells, as that was the only capacity available for a long time. Companies are slowly switching to newer cells though, as the 18500 is reaching it's limitations.

Lots of new tools? Such as... I'm sure there are a few new niche tools that will come out , and I'm all for it, but it isn't going to be tons. Maybe new models, not many actual new tools.

Copies of DeWalt? Where is DeWalt 12v lineup?. Non existent, so no copying there. The only thing copied of 20v DeWalt, is DeWalt 60v line. Milwaukee was the first with programmable tools (one-key), DeWalt a couple years later. Milwaukee has their own R&D (they can actually make & test a tool in Milwaukee). they aren't going to take a Ryobi and paint it red. One is designed for homeowners, the other built better for site abuse.

Only tool that I can think of exclusive to DeWalt is 60v table saw, arguably the 12" sliding miter too as Milwaukee's is only 10", but other than that I suggest actually browsing Milwaukee's tool selection

- Appreciate jumping into a Milwaukee deal thread, and then just bash them w/ no evidence to support it.

There was an offer for 30% off ordering through Google Express & Home Depot participates the other day. Obviously over, but there was two offers in my account for 20% & 25% for several more days. If you haven't used that, there ya go. Not every thing that they carry online is through the app, if that product is available when it comes out. Not a pre order, but savings

Ridgid has a mini 18v compressor so that might be the plan for 18v

That's what I'm thinking, and hoping. I already have a full lineup of air nailers; I'd rather have an M18 compressor to run them than buy all cordless nailers.

I'm fine with a M12 inflator. I'm sure it'll beat the Craftsman 19.2V I used to have or the Ryobi 18V on the market right now, especially with a 4.0 or 6.0 battery. I'll definitely be getting one to keep in the car with my M18 impact and a tire patch kit.

I’m no dewalt guy but they have some nice stuff Milwaukee doesn’t offer.

Track saw
Worm drive saw
Table saw
6” grinder
Crown stapler
Floor stapler
Framing nailer
Compressor
Radio for their storage system
Tons of rotary lasers

That’s off the top of my head. I have a crapload of Milwaukee stuff and they are way ahead of Dewalt in a bunch of areas but are not even close in others.

So I was thinking the other day...... What I want is a cordless compressor (like the rigid one) but I want the tank to be quick detachable so if I can go and pump up a tire without lugging to tank around. So it would be able to be used as an inflator that would only weigh a couple pounds and can still pump a large tire up in a reasonable amount of time. And it can click onto the tank to use with nail guns.

I went Milwaukee because they cater more to mechanics, the ratchets and High Torque were what sold me, but if I worked with wood more id probably have gone dewalt. I am very seriously considering the 60V grinder though. It may be worth waiting to see what Milwaukee's next move is

Picked up the M18 3/8 impact, led flashlight and a 9.0 AH battery at Home Depot today. Could have done better pricewise if I ordered online but I need the impact driver to get started on project. Power has been out past 24 hrs with storm and using an M18 Rocket for some light in the house ;)

Ouch I can't even imagine what you paid for that 9.0.. never buy individual batteries from HD. So many cheaper ways. Literally you could've bought 2 for the price HD charges

Looking to pickup an Impact should it be the M18 or Ingersoll Rand W7250?

hands down milwaukee...the 2763 is just as good as the ir, 2767 is the best thing out in the market now...ive got both...even the mid torque 2861 is more than enough...lastly price cant be beat

per the milwaukee rep at HD, the milwaukee nailers were a dud, he only recommended the 15ga brad nailer

This may be interesting... bought the M12 USB jacket adapter... to make a back up battery for my 12v Nebulizer.

I look at it this way... A nebulizer battery is over $100... M12 batteries... I have a drawer of them.

I use my M12 batteries and adapters to charge or power stuff I never thought of before. I've charged my phone a lot, but I also use to for my wireless endoscope, FLIR One thermal camera, and some $15 Utilitech 12V worklights from Lowes that came with a 12v car plug. Way cheaper than the M12 lights, and they can be plugged into 120V AC as well.

I've also been looking at the Braun Underhood light at Harbor Freight for $40 and adding a M12 battery to that somehow. The M12 light is $199.

I don't think any one brand will ever have the lead in every category. I'm sure they put their R&D toward whatever they think will be best for their market.

A Milwaukee cordless framing nailer and compressor would both be nice, but I don't see the appeal in the others. I guess a table saw would make sense to go along with their miter saws, if you really needed portability.
