It's only 96° here in AZ today!Haha...that explains it.
We have a shot at 70 today...so thats nice.
i have a 2403 M12 drill. up until now, it has been used lightly.
today, i tried to use it "all day". not continuously, but regularly (drilling holes to make driving the screws easier). it worked for two or three hours ok, but then started to not work. no "trigger" light when i squeezed it, not motion. slapping it with my hand had no effect, but unplugging the battery and putting it back in seemed to fix it. after lunch, it worked for awhile, but then it completely stopped working. swapping batteries with the driver did not help.
the tool body was not hot at any point in this process, so i dont think a thermal switch is the culprit, especially since it got worse after an hour of down time during lunch . . . .
it seems i have read about this before, but i can't remember the details. before i figure out how to get it repaired (assuming it continues to fail and just doest start back up without issue tomorrow), i was wondering if the collective had an idea of what was happening.
anyway, thanx for any light you can shine on this . . . . .

Anyone used the Milwaukee 9.0 amp battery line trimmer ? I think it's model 272521 HD . How long does the battery last when using it ? My BIL is thinking about it. Wonder if the battery stuff Stihl makes is better choice .
Thanks

Dewalt announced 12.0 battert and Metabo 4.0 compact.... Both perhaps trying to steel NPS18 hype.... Now I am worried I will be disappointed in the news
x2Let's say a 16ah M18 battery was released...
will you be even using it, just short of for light applications
5 IMO seems to be a sweetspot ?
I'll grab the 9's if I'm running the grinder and such, but even then depending on use, I might swap to another 9 , mid use just to keep the batteries cool

Yes! For my Vexilar K-Drill ice auger. See here: https://kdrillauger.com/. Also would be good for any type of Milwaukee M18 tool that you don't necessarily need to hold all the time. Lighting, vacuums, radios, etc.Let's say a 16ah M18 battery was released...

My 9.0s overheat fairly fast on the grinder, and they seem to fault until they go on the charger, even if they are near full charge. The only too they seem to overheat on is the grinder. Now I generally use the 5.0 on the grinder and save the 9.0 for really anything else. Vacuum, weedeater, blower, drill, circular saw, etc, no problem. I have the same experience with the 3 9.0 batteries I own.Ya I find M18 4.0 and 5.0 XC the right balance of power/runtime to weight for most of the handheld tools except maybe the grinder and circ saw but I prefer the 5.0 still on the saw. Wet dry vac, lights and water pump are the big exceptions for me and maybe the fan or my music tooas would be the stationary miter saw if I had one. [emoji38]_hitti
Of course that OPE stuff needs all it can get too [emoji14]
I would eventually begin to wonder about heat buildup I guess. but for me the bigger that battery also the longer the recharge wait and depending on the work your doing waiting for long recharge may not be a good option
That's odd, I only use 9.0s in my grinder and there'll be days I'm too lazy to plug in my metabo and I'll spend 2 hours grinding non stop just swapping my 9.0s. I said non stop other than swapping out batteries. I get 45 min of heavy grinding or using a flap wheel. If I'm really aggressively grinding down something continuously then it's closer to 30 minutes. It is crazy to me that I can run an angle grinder for 45 min but can only run my shop vac for 20. They need to come out with a fuel vac. I'd gladly pay a good mark up if they could produce even 1.5-1.75x runtimeI can’t grind nonstop for 2 hours with my m18 grinder using a 9ah. More like 20 minutes. It seems about like a vacuum — high consumption.
I have the paddle switch without the brake I'm pretty sure. If it does have the brake it doesn't work very fast. I love it though. I tried the brushed version first and it was unusable(for me at least). I got less than 10 minutes with a 4.0 or 5.0 and the power was very underwhelming. I returned it immediately, wasn't even gonna bother with the fuel but a couple days later I went for it and its def one of my top 3 tools now. Great power, and I only use 9.0s with it and i get amazing runtimeWhat model grinders are you guys using?
Sounds good, yeah I've been eyeing them but would probably get more use out of the mid torque impact, so will probably pick that up first. I've been really impressed with the circular saw and the reviews on the fuel grinder look pretty good so I've been thinking about getting one of those too
I just got the M18 Fuel 7-1/4" circular saw today and that thing is a beast.
I have the same grinder at home too, I will take the 9.0 home and give it a try. That's odd, I only use 9.0s in my grinder and there'll be days I'm too lazy to plug in my metabo and I'll spend 2 hours grinding non stop just swapping my 9.0s. Might be an issue with your grinder.

In other news, just got a shipping number for my M12 inflator. Good timing, all the snow is almost melted here in MN.
So assume HD 12.0 is real,M18 XC 6.0 is gone but was never real anyway lol, we get XC 8.0 and we all wanted M18 compact 3.0 but will get a compact 4.0 instead..... Plus maybe a compact M12 4.0?!?! I am all in for that! While a M12 8.0 is a possibility, I am loaded on 6.0s and all good there.

just picked up the 2780 grinder after dragging out 100ft of extension cord the other day really pissed me off.
Have heard mixed reviews, but I'm already "balls deep" in the M18 line so why not.
If you really picked that up for $90, congratz... now I have to find one around that price!
Where did you order the inflator? Home Depot's site is backordered, and I talked to their tool guy at the store yesterday, he said they were on order and should have them within a couple weeks but didn't know if they'd be the $69 bare tool or the one with a 2.0 battery for $79.
